Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

FWIW - Just saw on NFLN that Spencer Ware has a pretty serious $$$ bonus if he rushes for 1,000 yds.

Motivation? :shrug:

 
I would lean Howard over Ware, too, because of matchup, but I don't think there is going to be a lot of divergence between them. Both are at home, both are in very cold games, and both will be relied on a lot to set up the pass and simply because cold weather favors the ground game. 

Both will have the same risk of a heavy, stiff, and potentially icy ball. Both will likely get their carrries -- ~20 a piece sounds about right to me.

Ware isn't an automatic start over other guys like Blount or Murray or even Rawls. But I think he can pick up 80 total yards on volume if the gameflow goes the way I expect -- slug-out on D and pounding the ball on both sides. 

Over under right now is around 42. Vegas usually gets it right, but for some reason, have a feeling we're going to see a 17-13 kind of game.

 
Leaning Howard and J. Hill over Ware.

There's just no recent data anywhere that points to Ware having a big game. None. It's just wishful thinking that the trend will suddenly change.

 
Leaning towards JStew over Ware.  Better match up and has been doing well with Cam's injury. I don't have much faith with Ware lately. 

 
I went ware and Howard over gurley because I think KC tries to control the clock and keep Tennessee off the field with KCs d banged up

 
I'd like to see stats on how defenses have adjusted to KC in the second half of the season.  Hill's emergence coincides a lot with Maclin missing those 4-5 weeks, but KC still has not scared defenses from playing the game close to the LOS.  I think Ware won't be a great threat until KC can force teams into cover 2 or some form of   It's difficult to bench him bc he is guaranteed 15-18 touches a game especially when he is your RB2 or flex.  Though this week, I'm strongly debating on Dixon over him.

He's at 790 right now so needs another 210 over the next three games which is 70 yards per game.  ESPN is projecting him to reach 972 on the season.

What do you think MoP? You think Ware is ranked too high? Is he an avoid or simply right in the middle of a flex type option? I mean it's crunch time with players like Blount, Ware, Miller, Powell, Dixon, and Coleman into the mix. Where do you think Ware ranks with these guys? Somewhere in the middle?

This is my debate as well. I'm leaning towards Dixon. 

 
I have an extra WR in over Ware this week.  I tend to go RB over WR in the flex, but I don't trust Ware against the TEN Def.  Figured I'd get more production out of my 3 WRs (Diggs, D.Adams, T.Williams) than I would taking one out and putting Ware in.

In 1 pt ppr he's been over 11 pts 1 time since wk 7. And under 8 pts twice

 
I survived Ware's stinker last week because of Bell.  This week I need to survive Rawls stinker.  Have Ware in now ahead of Martin.  Need him to not crap the bed again.

 
I may play Crowell over him in PPR. I can't believe I'm considering this and this might be the type of decision that can haunt you for years but I've had about enough of these "Gurleyesque" 8 point games out of Ware. I know he looks like a great receiver but it seems Hill is getting more looks.

 
I think we know who Ware is at this point; an RB2 with an occasional opportunity to put up RB1 numbers. If he's your RB1, you'll be disappointed. He's my RB2, so I am OK with his numbers.

He is RB2 for me this week. Unfortunately, my RB1 was Rawls. :wall:

 
I have ended up with two RB #2's to roll the dice with: Ware & Coleman with Blount in at Flex. Now that Jimmy Graham sucked again I will need solid performance from at least 2 of these 3 and would really love to see Ware perform well and run like a #####! And perhaps catch a few balls that seems to be weakness of TEN D. Get Ware involved in misdirections, flats, screens, dump offs, something! And where does Tyreek Hill fit into the KC game plan too? Probably pretty big. Kelce, Ware, Hill.

That's how I look at it.  He and Gurley are my RB2/flex so it doesn't hurt so bad, you know you're occasionally going to get stinkers from those positions.

 
I own Ware in all 4 of my leagues. My decisions for this week:

1 PPR: Currently starting Ware over Gurley, Farrow, Kelley, Blount, Lewis, and Jordan Matthews. May reconsider and swap Ware out.
0.5 PPR: Benched Ware for Elliott, Freeman, and Rawls.
0.5 PPR: Currently starting Ware in last flex spot over Allen Robinson and Jordan Reed. Dixon available in free agent pool. May reconsider and swap Ware out.
0 PPR (but 0.5 points per rushing/receiving first down): Benched Ware for Ajayi, Hyde, and Rawls.

Obviously, starting Rawls over Ware in 2 leagues doesn't look like it will work out. And I'm not sure if I will stick with Ware in the other 2 leagues yet.

I just don't know what to think.  I keep seeing Ware running up the middle 17 times in this frigid game for 61 yds.  Kelley being my other option but I can see him doing the same thing.

This is how I feel about him as well. Considering benching him for Dixon, Montgomery, and Farrow.

The consensus is Ware is pretty average - 16-18 carries / 50 -70 yards rushing, 2-3 receptions / 20-25 yards receiving and a .5 TD chance. Dodd and Trembley pretty high on him, Bloom not so much. Depends on other options if you have any? Yes, I am looking at guys like Dixon, Montgomery, Farrow, or Powell. When is the last time Ware broke something and ran hard? Three-four yards and a cloud of rubber doesn't cut it. I guess we're resigned to a RB #2.

Remarkably similar situation for me.

Starting 2 among Ware, Ajayi, Hyde, Kelley & Dixon in a PPR.

Currently going with Ware & Ajayi but I see it as a dart-throw among the above (and, to be fair JustWinBaby, I would have started Rawls over Ware also if I had that option).

At the end of the day, I'm starting Ware because (a) he's going to get the opportunity, (b) it's going to be presumably a run-heavy game with the KC weather and (c) I believe regression will yield a TD for Ware this game (so many things have broken just wrong for him the past month...or so it feels).

At the same time, I would not fault anyone who wanted to start Kelley or Dixon or especially Hyde over Ware (the ultimate deciding factor against Hyde for me was the loss of SF's starting center).

Ware has caused much consternation this season. I understand arguments for people falling on both sides of the RB1-or-not argument. I'm hoping he does something exciting enough this week to bring that argument back a little stronger...

 
Trying to decide between Ware and Powell in PPR. I think I'll be going with Powell if Forte is out. I do believe Ware has a higher floor but not sure I can afford to play it safe with my match up

Agreed.  Take away their special teams and defensive TDs, and KC has only 1 more rushing and 2 more passing TDs than the Browns!  No doubt Ware has taken a lead back beating, but success has made Reid lazy.  Unless he gets more creative, I think your projection is pretty close.

I wouldn't think Ware has a higher floor? I think these two are about even this week or Powell by a nose. Powell catches a lot of balls out of the backfield.

On the other hand, without the DST scoring, maybe Reid would have been more creative.

 
Now that Landry is laying an egg (read: Moore) I'm assuming Ware has a higher ceiling than Kelley so I'm gonna stick with him.

Same boat.  Gotta pick 2 out of Ware, Dixon, L. Miller, Montgomery, and Farrow.  Miller and Ware have the highest floor, but I can see both ending with 60-70 yds rushing and no TD's.  Dixon is more enticing, but I really wish I knew Harbaugh was gonna stay committed to him and not revert back to West if they aren't playing from behind.  It's hard to bench 18-20 rushing attempts.

Dixon has turned the corner and his stats show it. Now, could I start him over Ware and Miller? Probably not. But, he is enticing. I may look closer at Dixon tomorrow. In one league I am starting both Freeman and Coleman over Martin and Dixon on the bench. In another league I have Ware and Coleman with Blount Flexed over Dixon. I would say that Dixon scores tomorrow. Just a gut feeling.

Benched him for Elliot, Hyde and Powell. Biggest problem is they quit using him in the passing game.

I'd start Miller. 

I've grown tired of his 60 total yard games and am benching him for Gates this week.  It's a tiered PPR where RBs only get .5 PPR and TEs get 1.25 PPR, so that plays a role in it.  For me I just think Gates catching 5 passes with a chance at a TD makes him a better start than absolutely needing Ware to score since his yardage and use in the passing game has been quite low for several weeks. Save for Gates' one game where he got no targets, he has an 11-12pt floor in this format while Ware's floor is about half of that.  I think their ceilings are comparable.

Think I'm gonna start Hill, Kelley and Tyrelle Williams over him one league. Starting him with Howard and Miller in another league. Only other options are Gillesse, Hopkins, Sheppard and Boyd so I feel like I'm pretty much forced to start him there. I'm fine with Ware as a flex play.
