Our upscale MVP service is totally unique in men’s hair care today and is the flagship service of Sport Clips. The MVP begins with our precision haircut followed by an invigorating scalp massage with Tea Tree shampoo, a Classic Steamed Towel, and finishes with a relaxing upper neck and shoulder massage. The MVP is the ultimate just-for-guys championship haircut experience that you’ll come back for again and again.
I went to this place recently. Got a haircut. Saw some dude with a towel on his face getting massaged with an apparatus by a hair stylist. There's something wrong here.

I got my haircut at one of these about a 5 weeks ago or so, and there was a hot 20something there working. Not the best haircut in the world, but not the worst either. Her lowcut shirt made up for it I suppose. I went back a couple of weeks ago, 20something isn't there, her "area" is cleaned out. I guess they let her go. So I proceeded to get the worst haircut of my life from an ugly 40 year old that was loaded to the balls on opium or something. She managed to cut a cowlick into my hair. HTF did she pull that off?

One of these opened in a strip mall near me last year so I gave them a shot. I've gone twice in the past two months.

First of all, there are always signs outside proclaiming "Sport Clips - No Waiting!", and I've had 10-15 minute waits both times. So false advertising right out of the gate. Next issue I notice is the talent is really marginal. I probably went in with the wrong expectations, but I assumed that since this place caters to men and has the whole sports theme, that it would be like Hooters for haircuts. The women were LESS attractive than my local Hair Cuttery and Supercuts, so that's a huge swing and a miss right there.

Both haircuts were decent, but no better than any other local place. On my first visit I did take advantage of the free MVP upgrade, so I got the scalp massage with the special stuff they use, and that was nice. But, the lady was about a 5 and it lasted about 5 minutes, so I don't see it as any great value that I would ever pay extra for in the future. And given that the haircut itself is not anything special and they charge more for it, this place overall is not a good value at all IMO.

As for the sports theme, I went on weekday afternoons, so the stuff on TV was nothing I cared about. First time it was LPGA golf, second time it was a rerun of a basketball playoff from a few days ago.

Then as I'm checking out, here comes all the upselling and other BS -- she's hawking the stuff she rubbed in my hair, gives me a loyalty card, coupons to give to friends for a free MVP service, asks for my email address (had to unsubscribe from all the spam they sent) and circles a phone number on the receipt so I can complete a survey. I have to nod politely, knowing it's all just paper that I'm throwing in the trash as soon as I leave.

So to recap -- lied to me about the wait, women are not as hot as other places, haircut is a poor value compared to other places, the sports theme offers little or no value, and they waste my time at checkout. In the end I really resented the whole experience and will not be back.
