St. Louis Offense (1 Viewer)

Power outage?

The Rams' first team offense has underwhelmed during pre-season. Is this really a reason for concern about Bulger/Holt/Bruce/Jackson heading into week 1, or is the vanilla pre-season offense to blame?

Let's hear what y'all think as a lot of FF owners have Rams in key positions on their teams, or are likely to draft one or another for a key position on their team.

As a Steven Jackson owner in my main league (year five of a keep-four league), I'm slightly concerned. I'll be very interested to see how the offense performs against a sound defensive squad in Week 1 (Denver). They should be able to move the ball and score, but Linehan will have to open up the playbook to silence any preseason critics.

Jackson owner here as well and am a little concerned. Hopefully this is just preseason rust.
This is classic...two Broncos fans with Steven Jackson rolling Week 1. I guess we're hoping for a 35-28 Broncos' victory, with S Jax going for 150/40/4 TDs?Edit to change ph to v.

Just remember that last season the Steelers starters did the same thing . . . then they won the Super Bowl.

I don't worry about a RB being able to score behind Pace.

I don't worry about a passing game that includes two possible HOF WRs.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm reworking all my projections/rankings in light of week 3 pre-season results and wanted an outside perspective on St. Louis.

Do you worry about a former 6th round QB that up until this point has been a product of an excellent system rather than his abilities, running that passing game?

I'd be VERY worried. I'd drop EVERY Ram in your rankings. Then you can ALL get in a league with me and I'LL be the fall guy and have a chance to draft Bulger,Jackson,Holt and even Bruce.

IT'S PRESEASON!

FYI, the Steelers first team offense failed to score a TD last pre-season. Relax.

NoHe's had his moments.Spergon Wynn and Todd Bouman looked good throwing to HOF caliber WRs. McCown looked good last year and I guess even Navarre has had his moments. Probably plenty more. Hey doesn't Steve Bono have the highest winning percentage of any NFL QB in history or somesuch odd stat like that? That's it keeping it real simple. I'm quite leery of overthinking things this time of year.

Mark,I don't adjust the top 50 or so guys due to preseason games. Anytime I have, I've been burned that my original thought process was correct and I should have "left well enough alone".I'd be curious if you could look at last year's and see how you fared with your late changes.Injuries and or depth chart changes would of course demand a change, not referring to those

I would worry slightly about Sjax simply because he has looked terrible. But as for the offense as a whole, Linehan has always had very very good offenses better than Martz in fact so I wouldn't worry about it. They'll come around.

Yes, I agree that making wholesale major changes now is a mistake, barring injury/suspension/surprise cuts. Pre-season is after all, pre-season. But there is some weight to accord to the pre-season. There are developing situations that can tweak a guy up or down my positional rankings (Ie. Steven Jackson down a few more pegs due to the lack of red-zone success to date) that will move players around on my overalls a good bit. Last year, unfortunately, I had my old laptop melt-down right after the beginning of regular season, and I lost my 2005 excel files with all of my projections spreadsheets (I save them by date moving forward from my first set of projections/rankings...I do some tweaking/saving to versions between "bookmarked" dates, but anytime I do a revision of more than 3-4 players I set a new "bookmark" version. This year there are 11 bookmarked spreadsheets starting from Late April to now, with ~40 or so other smaller "tweaks" that weren't a bookmarked version). I wasn't dilligent about burning those particular files to CD last year (this year - different, believe me). I think your question is a good one, though - I'll put it in my calendar to write a 2007 article on the suggested topic ("when is it time to leave well enough alone when it comes to projections/rankings?"), although I'll need to come up with a better title than that...Maybe it could be a round-table type article with input from various FBG staffers who participate in the rankings/projections...I'll think on it.

How's that working for you? I have Bulger, Jackson, and Holt, and it's not working so well for me.Anyone know what is wrong with the St. Louis offense?

What is the issue with SJax? Hasn't hit paydirt, but has passed the century mark twice in two weeks. I took him 1.6 and am not disappointed.
