The Finn character played like Samuel Jackson in Die Hard 3.You're pretty alone in not liking the two new leads.Opinions are not wrong, they're opinions.MOP really is wrong about everything, all the time. Impressive. Most impressive.
I'm happy folks are happy but there is definitely room for criticism and there is plenty around the internet if you look. Solo and Leia were both welcome pick you ups but the leads are once again sort of so so. I acknowledge that the KR guy might have played it as written so then we can take aim at Abrahams.
Let's start at the top, opening credits and then we get a ship passing that is eerily the same as Star Wars and it's supposed to be but again the original was bigger and more impressive even vs the modern film, it is/was.
Let's talk about Tatooine II or whatever they called it, Jackaroo. In the first film they had Mos Eisley and crazy characters with lightsaber duels in the bar...this place was like the set was still there but all the actors had been sent home. The ice planet was like Hoth but no At At walkers or whatevr. Remember the ropes going around the Imperial Walkers in Empire? They were trying to pay homage but in the process reminding us of better films.
Just an opinion.
Where were Finn's parents? His family? His ancestors? His planet? There were not many other folks that looked much like Finn. He kind of stuck out like a sore thumb but I'm glad everyone liked him. I'm surprised they didn't dress him up in a Michael Jackson leather jacket(they did give him a leather jacket) and have him moonwalk onto the Millenium Falcon.
When Finn starts bellyaching after Poe says they gotta go back to Jackaroo, felt like Will Smith in these alien movies, pick any one you want. It's like modern American but in Space. This actor is not American but he just seemed awkward.
