Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (3 Viewers)

I'm not sure this franchise gets remade as such, but I agree with the bolded. We will see more and more of that.
How could it not?  Like the Star Trek universe, its creator wants to show how diverse the universe is, and so far, the most memorable woman is most remembered for wearing a gold bikini.  I'm sure this kind of reboot is on Gloria Steinem's bucket list.

Only because in 5 years, they will still be going strong with new movies. Usually a reboot happens on a franchise that has run its course.

I can't think of another franchise that got rebooted while still shooting new movies. That would be like reshooting Iron Man as Iron Woman right now while they are gearing up for Infinity Wars.
Yeah, you're right.  Sorry, I just felt like talking out of my ### for a while.  :hophead:

Eh, in this day and age, putting women in traditionally male-only roles is en vogue; within 5 years they're probably going to remake the story where all the leads are female except Leia, who will be played by Asa Butterfield.
You don't have to announce how threatened you are, you know

Spider-Man says hi.
Spiderman is a little different. They didn't start the second reboot until well after the first trilogy was done. And they didn't do the third reboot until they were strapped for cash and marvel had all that cash to incorporate Spidey into the Avengers universe.

Here’s to hoping the new trilogy is a redo of the original prequels and they dump the other one from canon

The trilogy will be separate from the Skywalker saga and "introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."

Got my tickets to go with my buddies on the 22nd (I'm out of town when it opens). Then will take the kids on the 23rd or 24th.

Taking my 2 boys (9&7) with Grandpa at 6am on the 16th. :bag:   Went to opening night of Rogue One and couldn't handle the chaos.

not directly related to the movie, but our local minor league hockey team, Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Islanders affiliate) had a Star Wars night last night. Wife and kid went, was planning on going but my oldest had her basketball playoffs and I'm the coach, so I couldn't bail on it.

Kids got lightsabers and everyone got either a Darth or R2D2 POP bobblehead.

R2 and BB8 were there (that my kid saw, may have been others)

Team wore these Darth jerseys that they auctioned off for charity afterward. It's a good thing I didn't go or else I'd have one right now.

I don't do opening night with the kids. The 7 and 9 could handle it, but not the 4 year old. We go on a weekend morning and everything works out well. That and I'm out of town the 15th so we are going the next weekend

it would be sort of neat to see the racoon guy from guardians of teh galaxy in one of the cantina scenes no speaking but just sort in the background that would rule take that to the bank bromigos

Impossible, Rocket would start a cantina brawl fo shizzle.

My son and I will be going sometime over the Xmas holiday.

Can't believe I'm a grown man going to Star Wars movies but damn, I was a kid when they started.  Can't stop now.

What’s the youngest that makes sense for this?  My near 7 year old daughter is really into Star Wars these days, and I’m considering taking her.  Too soon?  It also raises a bit of a problem with my 4 year old daughter likely wanting to join too, as she also watches the earlier movies with us, but that’s just way too young.

I first saw the original Star Wars when I was 7.  The only negative impact is that I now feel compelled to watch the rest of them for the rest of my life and complain about George Lucas in conversations with other geeks. You may not want to subject your kids to that agony...
