Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (1 Viewer)

Some lukewarm/disappointed reviews starting to trickle out.
In these reviews do they say if they liked 7 or R1 that much more, or are these people that also were lukewarm on those movies?

Going social media silent starting Thursday. Avoiding any potential spoiler material until then.
Yeah, the trailers for movies usually spoil enough.  We are going to see it on Sunday, so hopefully I can avoid the #######s online that get their rocks off by spoiling crap for people.

Anyone purposely spoiling themselves?? I’ve read a few spoiler free reviews, doing my best to control myself from finding out everything. I’ve read on the twitter that even some so-called spoiler free reviews, variety in particular, inadvertently include some spoilers. Beware.
No. Other than a couple good and bad reviews. Which is why I'll go in with low expectations and try to just enjoy it

Bought tickets today for my son and myself for the Thursday night 8pm showing right after his hockey practice.  Heading to Lake Placid with his hockey team for a tournament Friday morning, so I didn't know if I would get a chance to see it before Christmas otherwise and didn't think there would be anyway to avoid spoilers for that long. Only seats left were in the first two rows, but I was starting to stress over the spoilers. :nerd:

Btw, why would anybody purposely spoil themselves?
No self control. At least that’s my problem.  But so far so good, only two days left I’m going to hold out.

With the prequels the entire scripts were online and I couldn’t help myself I read them all, have to admit I looked once or twice for this movie and didn’t find anything.

We just had two major passings in the family Thanksgiving week and the kids don’t want to see it, is it depressing or nothing to worry about considering what they’ve been through recently?
It's not depressing at all but it's very emotional. They'd probably be fine but you won't miss out if you wait until it hits the streaming services.

another friend who saw it and was not in love with Rogue One or The Force Awakens

"Didn't think they could recapture the early magic but damn they did it.
This was like reliving the childhood all over again

T minus 8 hours 33 minutes for me.
Same here.  One of my companies suppliers (we are in tech so this works well) started renting out a theater the night before release and invites a bunch of their customers.  Free food, beer, and star wars.  They are doing for all the star wars movies now.

Skipping over the last few pages to avoid spoilers ... but the title of this thread is making me think:

Did Chewbacca actually whip out some English-language dialogue in this last installment? Don't answer me ... I'm leaving this post here for now so I can revisit after I've seen the film. But in Star Wars Universe logic, lots of alien species speak English (or Galactic, in universe). Some others don't, of course. So maybe having a Wookie grunt out a few words wouldn't be all that oddball -- yet it would send shock waves throughout SW fandom.

  bout to change the title so some people might not get what you are asking. But I hope he breaks out the English.

On the way to the 700 show

had to tell my nephew to not talk about the movie as we’re walking out.  He wouldn’t shut about Han as we walked out of TFA

Im pretty sure the people in line loved hearing about his death

Now sitting in my local podunk theater at 30 minutes to go time. Theater guy told me they had over 100 pre-sold ducats.

For $6.75, I got a sweet Star Wars pail.

Yeah I know what happens too.  I dont know why I look at spoilers but it's never ruined a movie or tv experience for me.  In fact, in most cases, it makes me even more excited to see it.

I’m gonna be posting live here. Begins shortly but the preemptive post is “music starts and story scrolls.” Come back every five minutes for a new post.
