Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (1 Viewer)

With Ron Howard coming on board I thinks it’s safe to expect it was salvaged. When has he ever made a bad film?

I thought Christensen emoting during his love dialogue with Natalie Portman was Oscar worthy. You could just feel the power

Someone on the Internet knew

But I agree with whoever said there is no Han Solo without Harrison Ford and really, what more needs to be said for his character? He had a perfect character arch in the original film. I guess if they wanted to stay true to his character he would just be a drug smuggling scumbag before ANH.

The opening scene should be other robots mining the different metal alloys and last approximately 30 minutes. Then it's onto the galactic software company.
I would also settle for a rouge one style movie that takes place after ROTJ to see exactly how C3PO got that red arm.

There is a comic book that covers this. It is hardly worth the google time to read about it....just another crappy attempt to sell more stuff (the comic in this case)

I would have liked to have seen the Baby Driver kid or Chris Pratt get a crack at young solo.  I think they have the charm and swagger to pull it off.  Lando also looks kind of lame.  I've been critical of the recent direction but I'll say I'm intrigued by the inital story point to have him training through the imperial program.

Every line of dialogue from young Solo in that trailer was cringe-worthy. He's not even attempting to mimic any of Ford's cockiness either, which is odd.

In his defense who could pull off a Harrison?

Ford is one of those actors that doesn’t have to act. He just plays himself and dazzles is with his charisma.

You're right about that. Just like someone couldn't pull off a young Denzel, Cruise, or Will Smith. Those guys are just themselves in everything, but it generally works. Can't think of many movie stars like that nowadays who are themselves the draw.

Pratt’s too old and has already carved out his own persona in Hollywood. When he was young and unknown maybe.

Ansel Egbort isn’t rugged enough for the part. Might be a good choice for the lead in the film about young Padme.

Rainn Wilson imo.  :karatemoves:

Lando looks lame? Glover is going to dominate that role.

Can’t think of any young actors that fit that level of charisma off the top of my head. It seems like one of those things that Hollywood no longer really has. It’s all looks and no substance.

I couldn’t see old school mans man actors like McQueen, Bronson, Shaw, Connery, Reed making it in modern Hollywood if they were starting now. Same for Ford. They are too masculine for today’s pretty boy, transgender, “toxic masculinity” climate

Remember Ford was already 33 in Star Wars.

It’s just the pimpstache that Billy Dee brought to the role himself. That wasn’t designed. When you cast Billy Dee the stache comes with him.
I thought he had other facial hair going with it.  Moustache is a given of course, but fur overcoat... I don't know... Lando could pull off a cape.

Billy could have pulled off fur. I think he did in one of the original Batman films.

If you care you discuss this further I suggest we do it over some ice cold, always smooth Colt 45

He looks cool as #### there. You're out of your mind.
Cool isn’t about how you look. It’s being cool no matter how you look.

Thats why Billy could pull off the cape. It’s unfortunate for the actors portraying the character after him that they can’t live up. I’m not blaming Glover or the films creators. Based on the info we have I figure it went like this for Lando..,

He was young, rocking fur trying to be a badass. He got involved with a two timing sucka like Han but got his life together and became the leader of Cloud City. He must have figured “ I put up with that #### and I’m running a mother####ing floating city. A floating city! I’m going to just wear a cape cuz the hoes want me anyway”.

Thats his arc.

The Rock.

Just wanna be sure Smack Tripper is the guy that said "They are burying all trailers for the Han Solo movie because they are embarrassed by it" while Disney puts the ####### trailer on during the Super Bowl.  This is the guy, right?

NFL Ratings are dropping though lol

Which, frankly, could still make for a fun film

The Rock.
Yep.

Hugh Jackman, but his talent is far wider ranging.

Jason Statham
