Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (1 Viewer)

I think there's a lot of purposeful misdirection in the trailer.  I think Snoke's whole voiceover is about Rey not Kylo Ren.  I think Luke is afraid of training her when he see's just how powerful she is with the force so early in her training.

He stoped a phaser blast mid-stream. Seems powerful to me.
That's the thing. He started off so bad ###, but as the movie went along he got weaker and weaker. He can stop a laser mid stream. He can't probe the mind of an untrained person strong in the force (Rey). Then at the end, not only can't he beat Rey, again who is completely untrained, but he can't beat Finn who's a janitor storm trooper.

Unfortunately the casting in the new movies are terrible. Lead female action character  :X . Main bad guy a whiney little teen  :X .
Really?  I agree that the casting in these new ones is awful however out of the whole group I liked her the best. Thought she was the most believable character in the whole movie.

Just my opinion. Between them using the same plot to horrible casting i am really disappointed with Disney. Hopefully they save it with Han Solo movie.

I think his problem is that he's crazy......sometimes he can do it...sometimes he can't.

Think kind of Jofferyish from Game of Thrones......but without the inbred stigma.

And it pretty much is a take on ESB....down to the big walkers attacking whatever.

Next movie we'll get Wookies helping the Rebellion defeat the First Order on some faraway moon while Luke/Snoke/Rey/Kylo will all be together and there will be a couple of last minute swerves in which people save/betray one another....

No doubt, especially since she confirmed that The Force Awakens was her.

I think you're 100% spot on here.

This probably makes the most sense - if you assume these are Skywalker Trilogies - with Kylo Ren coming back in the final episode to seek redemption and be the ultimate good guy...

But, one of the things that always annoys me about the whole Good v. Evil aspect of Star Wars is that they make such a big deal about the balance in the Force - which implies an equal amount of good and bad in the universe.  If you kill all the bad guys, the universe will be unbalanced...

As one of the bigger SW dorks, I have a bad feeling about the Han Solo movie. I have no explanation why. Just a gut feeling.

####### with the cool factor/mystique of Han Solo's background is a bad move. You'd have thought they'd learned from the prequels and Vader/Anakin.

Nothing they do can live up to the classic character of Han Solo. Just leave it alone.

Edit: Of course I'll still see it. But I continue to think it's a bad idea

Donald Glover as young Lando is enough to get me to see it on its own

Also - movie poster - Rey's lightsaber is pointing down, while Kylo Ren's lightsaber is pointing up.

Might mean nothing.  Might mean everything.

That's deep Fanatic.
I read a bunch of the books back in the day. Luke goes out into the universe in search of force users. He finds many different "sects" of force sensitive people. The witches that ride on the backs of Rancors like horses. The group that pushes amazing illusions on all around. He found some that didn't see the force as a dichotomy of light and dark. I think that's where this evolves to. But that's just me.

Not sure if they're going with book canon (kinda wished they did) but maybe you're on to something.

I don't think it will be the same way it went in the books at all. I'm just thinking that's how this story plays out. Instead of Jedi being only the light side, Luke will realize that they can be on both sides. That trying to stay monk like and only light side is unsustainable. Sorta like the Serenity Now guy on Seinfeld. Can't do that goody goody #### forever.

I'm glad someone else feels this way.   I feel like Ren should've absolutely trashed Finn in a second and Rey shouldn't have been far behind.

If he was trained by Luke from an early age, he should've had some very solid force skills.

It annoys me that Rey so quickly is able to use lightsaber powers and mind control powers with no training.

I'd like to think Disney will end up revealing enough for all of it to make more sense..  but they probably won't.

Granted, it was a little wishy washy that she could got toe-to-toe against Ren at the end of TFA.  That was her first time touching a lightsabre although she is pretty good with a staff.

I also think it's nit-picking too.  I still enjoyed the movie immensely and I don't think TLJ will disappoint.

they spent the whole movie showing how emotional he was.  obviously his emotion interferes with his abilities.   they then reinforce that in the new trailer

I can't be the only one who hears "porgs" and envisions some cross between pigs and organic porn. Like pigs in space.
