Start 3 IDP's from the same team? (1 Viewer)

I have Y. Bell on my team. I have the option of picking up Crowder if I so please, and to also pick up Roth and play him as a DL. What do you all think of having more than one IDP from the same team, let alone 3? Good strategy or bad?

Well, as a whole, I personally don't think that having 3 IDP's for the same team to be a very good strategy. You're kinda throwing all your eggs in one basket. There are only so many tackle opportunities in a game, for every tackle that one guy makes, you have 2 guys that didn't make a tackle on the that play. It kinda limits your upside. I can't really comment on whether or not to pick up Roth and Crowder as you didn't provide the scoring system or who you have on your team.

Depends on the players, i have done it with pat williams, chad greenway, and antwion winfield

A team in my league has had some success with Polamalu, Farrior and Woodley from the Steelers.

You make a good point. I was more thinking along the lines of a theoretical discussion and not specifically for my team. But what the hey, I'll post my team later this evening and we can take a look at it and see if those kinds of moves would make sense. :football: <---While enjoying one of those of course...

There's a slight risk of hurting yourself with a bunch of guys from the same team. In general, though, you should be evaluating each roster and lineup spot according to the best player available in your scoring system.

I've been rolling T. Cole, S. Bradley, and Q. Mikell (sp?) for a few weeks. They won a game for me a couple weeks ago on Monday night. That was pretty cool.

Sux this week though.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I was just trying to find out what others thought about having more than one defensive player from the same team in your lineup. I'll go ahead and post my roster, and you can see if doing that would work or not. 12 team league. Last year of a keeper league, so we're redrafting next year. It's go for broke baby!

Start 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB

Tackles - 1 pt

Ast. Tackles - .5 pt

Sack - 2 pts

Pass Def. - 1 pt

Forced Fumble - 1 pt

Fumble recovery - 2 pts

Interception - 2 pts

TD's - 6 pts

D Linemen:

J. Taylor Was

A. Carter Was

T. Brown Ten

A. Kiwanuka NYG

L. Little Stl

Available D Linemen: Juqua Parker Phi, Jamal Anderson Atl, Matt Roth Mia (plays OLB but DL eligible in my league), Jay Richardson Oak, Pat Williams Min, Ray McDonald SF,

Linebackers:

D. Ryans Hou

D. Harris NYJ

J. Harrison Pit

P. Posluszny Buf

Available LB's: Channing Crowder Mia, Pisa Tinoisamoa Stl, D'Qwell Jackson Cle, Thomas Davis Car, Stephen Cooper SD, Rashad Jeanty Cin

DB's:

Y. Bell Mia

A. Wilson AZ

S. Jones Cle

M. Lewis SF

I'm happy with my DB's for now, just picked up Jones and Lewis. Wilson is on a short leash, he's gotta perform when he gets back from the week off or he'll be replaced by someone like Marvin White Cin, Kevin Payne Chi, C. Ndukwe Cin, O. Atogwe Stl.

I'm really considering picking up Roth for Brown, but having a hard time pulling that trigger cause Parker is sitting there the top scorer for DL in my league. But Jene said Roth is the better long term and steady guy, so I'm thinking of going that direction.

Linebackers have been a little disappointing so far. Harris, DeMeco and Posluszny have underperformed. I think this is my biggest concern so far. With my league being tackle heavy, do I try to trade Harrison now while he's on a role, or is he going to perform as a top 15LB (where he is in my league) the rest of the season? Then there's the dissapointment with Harris, not getting near the production from him that I thought.

I'm still not in that bad of shape overall though, just trying to get my roster fine tuned to make a run in the playoffs. I'm 5-1 and with this defense combined with some pretty good talent on offense I think I can make a run in the playoffs this year. 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB, WR, TE). 1 pt=20yds pass, 1pt=10yd rush/rec. (TE's get 1pt per 5 yds instead of 10 yds like WR and RB) everyone gets 6 pts for TD's, even QB's. Yes there is a guy that kept Winslow and then took Witten in the first round... *******, I was 2 picks behind him and hoped Witten fell to me!

QB Rodgers GB, Cassel NE (Had Brady! Doh!), Garcia TB

RB ADP Min, Jacobs NYG, Slaton Hou, Stewart Car

WR Johnson Hou, Edwards Cle, Moss Was, Curtis Phi

TE Olsen Chi, Stevens TB

Sorry the post was so long, but thanks for taking the time to read it! :goodposting:

I think it depends on the defense of the team your guys are playing for and who they are playing against.

Week #4 (due to Byes) I started three Bengals against the Browns.

Ndukwe, White and D. Jones. - and won the game. Ndukwe had a big week.

That Bengals trio is going to be money all year, another trio I'm not thinking twice about plugging into my lineup is Indy's.Bullitt (Sanders)BrackettKeiaho

I would think teh matchup would play into it too. Over the years I would never start 2 or 3 players against PHI or NE because they dont run the ball the way i woudl want.
