Start David Garrard this week (1 Viewer)

Either way, I'm going with Garrard today.
How did that turn out for you? Talent always wins out.
That's a very dangerous philosophy. Garrard outscored Flacco in 3 out of 7 weeks this season, so it's not like talent "always" won out between them.
BS
Why would you say BS to that? Check your own league stats. Did Flacco outscore Garrard every week? Do you think that the more talented quarterback always scores more points? Do you play in a league where "talent" is a measurable stat? What a boring league that must be.

I've been playing this sport for a really long time, and I know my ####. However, I try to respect the time and effort that the staffers here put in. I subscribe every year for a long time now. Against my better judgment, I drafted Garrard in all my leagues, because of the hype that surrounded him at FBG. I really wish I had listened to my own intuition...
PILING ON is the real problem here.Dodds Preseason Perfect Draft has Garrard as a MUST PICK, the PILE ON continues with Dodds projections for this week, which show Garrard ranked much higher (at #7) than (for example) my backup QB (at #21), Carson Palmer. Then Bloom's 2nd opinion projections show a difference of only 0.2 pts between those 2 QBs. Then Terfetilier shows Garrard as a value play, and also shows Palmer as overvalued. By the time we see Chase's posting Garrard as a must play, we've been hit over the head with FBG Man-Love.So YES, we expect the experts we pay for to be a lot more correct. 100% (no), but how many times has FBG recommended Garrard? There are 5 recommendations above. Garrard now has a TD. I'll be back to apologize to Chase if Garrard can get me one more and 200 yards. Still wish FBG had made Palmer their MUST START this week. Think they should know better.
there is a little too much man-love for Garrard (6) here, dropped Favre (12) to start him (Brady on bye).

I think Garrard just gave me a roster spot to play with in all the leagues smaller than 12 teams (and unfortunately I own him in a lot of leagues). Not blaming FBGs--they just echoed what I was already thinking going into the season. I'm just glad I didn't end up with him as my starter, which I was actually planning on in a couple of leagues until some better QBs fell too far.

Man, screw this freaking turd.

The only two games I started him all year, with Big Ben and Cutler on a bye, he lays an egg. Big Ben, Ochocinco and R. Moss on a bye this week and the turd and MSW bent me over. Oh yeah, and screw MJD and his seven billion yards on three carries bull####.

Hard for me to understand why Garrard is the 10th ranked QB on the cheatsheets this week. I dropped him in the one league I dafted him in. I know he's at home this week, but FBG... give up on this guy already. Now he has been handuffed, not allowed to audible out of some running plays to a passing play by the CS.

When wiil his weekly rankings reflect just how poorly he is playing this year? He isn't top 15 in any league I play in. He's getting very close to not even being top 20, in fact.

I have Cutler, Warner, and Garrard in a couple 2 QB leagues. I also have MSW in both, can I play this "turd"?

No rally this week? :(
I had to start him in 2 leagues (other QB is Schaub). Was pleasantly surprised by his 20 point performance away at the Jets.
Ha-ha, yeah, I finally got a trade made for Big Ben last week, promptly benched Garrard for the first time this year and did a little happy dance. And, of course, Garrard outperformed Big Ben by a mile. You gotta love fantasy football. That said, I think most owners would be wise to go with a better option if they have it. Garrard's lack of TD production is a constant worry. There's no way he's finishing top 12, IMHO. He's just so erratic that it's hard to start him and hope for a consistent fantasy output, which is key to consistent winning.

Anyone with the guts to start him this week?

Coming off a couple of solid performances and the Bills, while statistically good on pass D, may be in a little disarray with the Jauron firing.

Just sayin'...

Thinking of Garrard instead of Cutler/Hass (yeah, still carrying 3 QBs in a start 1 league; I know....). Garrard is probably "safer", but after facing Ricky Thurs night, I might have to roll the dice w/ Cutler for possible upside

I can't believe a Garrard thread had legs like this. He's a fantasy yawn. Might as well be a 12-page "Start Jason Campbell?" thread too...

you don't have to read it you know.in a 10 or 12 team start 2 QB league Garrard is someone you must be aware of. i'd wager he's 1 of the top 3 'backup' QBs in a start 1 12-team league as well.

Sorry...another bump. :hophead: Warner and his bruised brain are pushing me this way. He does play at home vs. Hou so he might do ok.Anyone else hoping for the "huge' game?

No choice but to start him over Ryan. However, he is at home this week and he has been putting up decent numbers on a weekly basis now.

Still not getting the hate. So far, after 11 weeks.

3 poor games (@Indy week 1, @Seattle week 5, and @Tenn week 8). Otherwise, 8 games of 16 pts or more including 5 games scoring over 20 pts. Averaging 17.5 pts/week. He's QB14 (high end QB2). He now gets 3 home games in a row where he tends to do better. The guy wasn't made out to be a top 5 QB. He was made out to be a good backup and/or a decent portion of a cheap QBBC. He's done that.

He's performed almost identically to Carson Palmer. The guy's price was ~QB20. He's outperformed his draft spot (again).

Again, I just don't get it

Garrard performs better at home.Houston has a poor pass defense.Hopefully he shines this weekend.
