IIRC, didn't Matt Moore and Smith combine a few years back when Delhomme was injured and wasn't it HEINOUS? I had Smith that year - I think it was a horrifying combo of Carr and Moore that utterly destroyed Smith's value.
I'll happily hope Delhomme stays the QB...
Steve Smith in the 3 games that Matt Moore started in 2007:Avegared 4.5 catches and 41 yards per contest with no TDs in those games.
Steve Smith in the 5 games that David Carr played(4 starts, one game w/significant mopup duty) in 2007:
Averaged 4 catches and 32 yards per contest with 2 total TDs in those games.
Those calling for Matt Moore probably need to forget that and start building the voodoo shrine out of chicken bones for Jake's resurgence. (Although, as lousy as Jake has looked it probably won't matter this year if they DO switch them up.)
I appreciate the good research. That's what I thought. I remember from that year that he not only sucked with them both, but he got NO DANG LOOKS. I think the magic between Delhomme and him is that Delhomme realizes that even when he doesn't look open, you throw to him and he proves that his superior athelticism/strength will make it pay off. Matt Moore and Carr wouldn't do that. When he wasn't open they'd just throw to some other dbag WR.
I'm not going to tell you that Matt Moore is Smith89's fantasy salvation, but this "research" is bogus.Matt Moore started the last three games of the 2007 season.
Here are Smith89's stat lines for those three games:
Dec. 16, 2007: vs. SEA, 8 rec. 72 yards
Dec. 22, 2007: vs. DAL, 9 rec. 137 yards, 1 TD
Dec. 30, 2007: at TB, 5 rec. 48 yards
Smith averaged 7.3 receptions for 85.7 yards and 0.33 TDs in the three starts.
