Steven Davis to Was? An observation from Panthers training camp (1 Viewer)

When I was at the Panthers training camp a few years ago I watched a guy pull out a whole sleeve of Davis' cards for him to autograph. I was amazed that he stood around with the guy and signed nearly all of them. Took several minutes. But then he didn't sign some cards. I was thinking, "what's up with that, you've already been overly generous with this autograph mutt, what's to keep you from signing all of the cards?" Davis refused to sign his old Redskin cards.

When I heard Washington was rumored to be in the hunt for his services I was a bit quixotic.

I'm not saying he won't end up in Washington but if he could use the Skins in this situation to drum up interest and salary I wouldn't be surprised. From what I observed, he wasn't fond at all of his former ballclub. Of course, a year's salary in ther NFL would change my mind, "Where do I sign?"

Davis was mad and took it personally that the team didn't keep him, but it was clear that Spurrier was clueless as to how to use him given his lack of a power running game.

There was no more bitter former player than Brian Mitchell in recent years and he now covers the 'Skins on a local radio show.

The players always tell us it's a business when they're holding out, and yet they forget that that's the case when they're released.

From what I have come to understand, Stephen Davis' agent contacted the Redskins, not the other way around, and the Redskins have no interest in Davis.

Correct. I neglected to mention that. I don't believe there's a story here.

After the big trade we won't see Davis there.
sorry but this wasn't a possibility IMO as Davis was bitter. I remember a preseason game between Wash and Car and Gardner trying to control his excitement scoring against his old team and Davis cheering him on saying something like "cmon it feels good, you know it does" and then a few pot shots in a post game interview. What I read was the Skins response to his agent was that they're evaluating their own players and not interested in acquiring a RB. Obviously BS now but both sorta give you a picture of their relationshipwrong quote, sorry bout that
