Injuries can't be predicted, but in Jackson's case I'd say yes. In his limited professional career, Jackson's been dinged up a little more then you'd like. Nothing major, but still injuries that slowed his production. His style of running might contribute to it.

Strains don't concern me much now as we are just getting underway and coaches will be more cautious now than in a few weeks.I expect a huge workload from him this year, and hopefully he can hold up. Whenever any one of my RBs gets a strained achilles tendon, I am concerned. It's such an important tendon especially to a RB. I own Jackson and was previously unaware of this until 2 minutes ago. It sounds like it's no big deal and he can just rest it. If it's just achilles tendinitis then that's pretty common (roughly 10-20% of all running injuries), especially for people who start running again after prolonged inactivity. Rest usually relieves symptoms, but pain can return when activity increases again. We'll just have to wait and see how this turns out. Hopefully it just goes away.

LT had one injury in 2005. Jackson had 3 different ailments, 4 if you count the knee which I know was bothering him on occasion. If it were one thing I wouldn't see the big deal, but it's always something different seemingly every week with him.He's more durable than LT2 at least...Ladainian Tomlinson 2005 16 Questionable Chest

(KFFL) Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (Achilles') has been bothered for several days by a strained Achilles' tendon but has missed little practice time. He took limited reps during Tuesday's single workout, Aug. 8. "He aggravated it again in the red zone period we worked Tuesday," head coach Scott Linehan said. "We kept him out, but he could've gone in. He'll be ready to go on Thursday," when the Rams play their preseason opener

A strained achilles isn't a lot to worry about. Most of you have probably had one and not known it. You can even get one walking. When you get one you'll notice a little sting when your walking when the injured ankle is at it's furthest point behind you. It can hurt alot when your running, but taping it helps alot. As long as you don't stretch the achilles it heals quickly. The best thing to do is to stay off it but I ran with a taped ankle and it still healed after 1-2 weeks.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about Jackson's injuries, but I do have a little concern.

Whenever Jackson has had 25 or more touches, the following week, he ended up on the injury report - and didn't do too well in that subsequent week.

there was a bye last year after his best game in week 8, but i don't remember any word about injuries over the bye. he also wasn't listed on the injury report week 13 (after 25 carries week 12), but had a terrible game.

No problem Joe.To begin with, my research shows that Jackson has not had any serious injuries, such as ACL, lis franc sprain, seperated shoulder etc, going as far back as his High School days.
This eliminates the possible concern of weakness to any specific area from an old, or known injury.
For example;
We know Ronald Curry has weak Achilles Tendons. He lost a season in College to a torn Achilles Tendon and has since suffered two more torn Achilles Tendons in the Pros.
Next I look at a RB and determine if he falls into the Fred Taylor - Chris Brown - Lee Suggs - Chris Perry - Frank Gore type of injury prone RB catagorey.
To me, Jackson does not fit that profile.
Then I look at the injuries he has actually had in the Pros and what I saw with my own eyes.
I did see the hit he took to the knee in the San Fran game and #1 it was unavoidable and #2 it would've rocked any RB. The fact that Jackson continued playing in that game after the blow to his knee and effectively at that, spoke volumes to me.
I did not get the chance to personally see what caused the injuries to Jackson last year, but again he either played through it, or returned the next game.
All NFL starting RB's will suffer the usual dinks & doinks and I see Jackson as having no appreciably greater chance of a crucial injury, than any other NFL starting RB...and less chance than some!

Tomlinson's groin and chest injuries seriously hampered his late season numbers. As far as FF goes those with LT were relatively lucky that they occurred when they did as I don't think he would have finished top 3 if they occurred earlier in the season.He's more durable than LT2 at least...Ladainian Tomlinson 2005 16 Questionable Chest

Does anyone else notice in the latest mocks he has been moving up the rankings like a firestorm? I think he was in the same situation as a month ago, I wonder what brought upon this change.

I'm worried about injuries with all backs who run this way, but it didn't stop me from owning Steven Davis, Jerome Bettis, Jamal Lewis, Mike Anderson, and even Bam Morris at various points in their careers.
I like that Jackson will almost certainly get more touches, but I salute the front office for assembling nice depth behind him. I suspect that Jackson will be given the chance to carry most of the load, but if it hampers his effectiveness like it appeared to at times last year, he will be spelled more frequently by Fischer and Moe Williams.
It's that last part that has him ranked lower for me than for other guys - I think that Fischer and Williams are really terrific role players running in short yardage and catching out of the backfield, so there's less incentive to try and force Jackson if he looks less effective with more work.
