Stevie Johnson week 2 rank seems crazy low! (1 Viewer)

I figure the incredibly low rank for Stevie Styles is based on the assumption Haden is covering him. But Haden is suspended and won't play. Just wondering because I'm trying to decide between Johnson and LaFell this week, but looking at the rankings made me say 'wha?'Do I not know something?

I have Stevie pegged as a no-brainer top 10 WR this week. To be honest, he's ranked sketchily low on a lot of lists. What gives?

Maybe it has something to do with Chan Gaily stating how they'd like to run more but I doubt anyone has looked that deep.

Browns D not as bad as you think. Bills not that great. I don't think it's THAT low.
According to fantasypros, Dodds is going against the grain here. WRs are averaging 35 points per week vs. CLE. Who else is there to throw to other than Stevie on BUF? I don't know, I think he's at the least a high-end WR2.

5 targets, 2 catches last week. It was pretty epic.
Yeah dude, that 49 yard catch and run for a TD WAS pretty epic.
It was, and it saved his day. Doesn't really change the fact that based on your post, one might expect more than 5 targets. The same number that Chandler had, by the way. I own Stevie, and like him. I think he'll wind up being a WR2 when it is all said and done. But he isn't without some serious questions. Whether he is 100% healthy is a legit question, as is his QB play. The team has other targets. Jones, Chandler, and Spiller are all legit. And frankly, they might all be higher percentage targets than Stevie.

only 10 completions for the QB in a complete blowout win that was over early in the 3rd quarter. I'm fine with another one of these against the Browns. Andy Dalton did just light them up for 300+ and 3 TDs though.Looked to me like Dodds may be a little low on Stevie for this week but not drastically so. I'd probably rank him in the 10-20 range among WRs.

The QB play is or rather will be a real concern once the weather turns colder. Stevie felt the effects of Fitz's noodle arm last year, so I may look to move him mid season. As for the other targets, the fact still remains that CLE is still in the bottom five for fantasy points allowed to WRs and that is counting the game vs. PHI where Haden was active. Although Chandler is picking up some of the slack that Nelson left behind (some work between the 20's, but people are largely exaggerating his increased role) and Jones has stepped up his game to some extent, I still view Stevie as a blatant WR1 for this match-up. To be on the safe side I'm calling him a high-end WR2 but I'm very much expecting top 10 numbers.

You do know Joe Haden is suspended right? He's going against crap like Sheldon Brown, Buster Skrine, and Dimitri Patterson.
Yes, and I still think the Browns defense is not as bad as its perception. Keep in mind, it doesn't take very much to be better than the perception of the Browns defense.I also think it's reasonable to suspect the Bills to rely on Spiller over Fitzpatrick. Until Spiller isn't getting 10 yards per carry, there's no need for a heavy aerial attack.Won't surprise me at all if Johnson finishes top 15 as a receiver. We all know how FF works. But I guess I'm just not seeing where he's ranked as shockingly low. There's probably somewhere between 6-7 receivers I might jump Johnson over, but I'm not going to suggest I know more than Dodds when it comes to projections. What really matters is that whoever thinks Stevie is a good start this week should start him. I would, but then again, I don't use rankings as the sole arbiter of my lineup.

I think Stevie Johnson is being underrated as a whole because of of the early season matchups. With games against Revis and Brandon Flowers in the first two weeks, I think the numbers he's put up (even if they are TD dependent and the Jets TD came when Revis was out of the game) are better than you could have expected going into the game.

Anyone drafting him knew that the season started off rough with Revis, Flowers, and Haden...but we caught a break because of the Haden suspension. I think this is Stevie Johnson's 2012 breakout game.

Personally, I planned on benching him behind Marshall, Harvin, and Nicks on my team, but I plan on starting him over Lynch in my flex.

I agree with this. He's gotten "lucky" to get two TD's so far, but it was against some darn good DB's. It will be interesting to see how he does this week.

Fitzpatrick might not need to pass much at all depending on if Spiller can keep it up. I like Stevie this week, but in the league where I own him I'm probably sitting him behind Brown, LaFell, and Dez, to give you an idea of where I rank him. Too many incredibly juicy matchups out there this week.

LaFell, huh? That's what I'm trying to decide between.

Yeah NYG, TB are right up their with the CLE match up. OAK not so much. If I had a choice, I'd start Stevie over all three of them though.

I consider Brown a lock mostly because he's a high target guy with very steady yardage numbers, and I've seen enough of Oakland this year to say "ew." And yeah, they're all good matchups. I've probably just jinxed them to combine for 10 catches on the week.Re: LaFell--he's just running free out there with defenses focused on Smith. Coin flip between him and Stevie, but it's kind of a gut call.
