Is anyone else in Pfizer? I am pretty annoyed about the merger with Allergan being a taxable event and am thinking about just selling now.

Edit to clarify: Allergan shareholders will not be taxed. Just Pfizer.

In the last little bit I've bought some PDI, BIE, and ETP. PDI and BIE as I haven't been seeing a massive amount I want to buy and these are at a significant discount to NAV and have great yields. I'll take the steady 9% and 6% (tax free for BIE) on those.

ETP because I'm a glutton for punishement and when I see a stock that has raised it's distribution by 50% over the last year and taken a 50% price haircut I know something is wrong. MLPs are being crushed - this one for no real good reason. No commodity risk, so I'll take the 11% yield and hold on for the turnaround.

lol

Was going to put some cash in BIE for the same reason. Order at $14.25. Got just north of there and never filled.
:hifive:

I filled at 14.22 a few days ago or late last week. Tax free 6% in a taxable account - I'll take a steady 8% effective yield anytime.

Have a look at PDI. Not a muni, in fact it's charter is very flexible as to what bonds they buy - however they have consistently increased their NAV value and are at a discount. Best performing CEF I've found in a decent sized population. I also have my eyes on some other items, like FMO, that I hope get decimated during tax loss selling season so I can bottom fish at the end of year here.

Added 175 UCO today @ $20.07 for 1875 @ $28.92

OPEC meets the first week of December.....
DUDE!!!!!

Can you here this.....

That's me pounding my fist on my desk.

$SPY probably has a little lower to go but this area from $203-04 is pretty major support. We're gone from overbought to oversold in the past week on the daily charts. I'm buying it as I think the spot is good risk:reward. Failure here would not be good for the overall market trend.
Choo-Choo. This was probably the last best buy spot for 2015. We likely go to all-time highs from here.
Thoughts?

We went from extremely oversold in mid-Nov to extremely overbought now...and selling from those conditions. I have significant support at $SPY $205-206...and we're there already and indicators are just now rolling over. That's concerning. I don't think we want to go much lower than $205...I posted a chart on twitter earlier.

:excited:

Time to buy some more UCO!

Get it while it's hot folks

(disclaimer: I haven't a single clue what I'm talking about)

SCTY is being punished today.

Picked up a couple of hundred shares at 29.50.

My one year target is 86 bucks.
With that kind of target - why not just buy something like the $SCTY Jan 2018 $35 Call. Do that for $5.00. At your $85 you will have 10x profit as the call will be worth $50 vs. less than 3x profit long stock. With a calender spread you'd likely get the cost of the $35 call down below $4 too.

Regardless - I would appreciate your thoughts on why the $86 target.
Will give it Monday and buying the calls is also a great idea.

Also HCA is looking oversold big time.
So I'm still waiting to hear about your thoughts regarding $SCTY and the $86 price target.

I did wind up buying the Jan 2017 $35 Calls in early November.

I have to decide whether I want to sell Kinder Morgan on this lift, while I'm only down 20%. :oldunsure:
Aaaaand now down 30%. :lmao:
7% down every day it seems like. I have a little bit and see no reason to offload at this point. It will boomerang at some point - its DCF is still growing. This isn't going away, but the panic here is insane. At the rate it has been going down in the last couple weeks it would hit zero before Christmas.

BTW I just love days like this when everything is red. Heck, TLT was as bad or worse than most equities and equity ETFs. Oh, wait, PM was up .05%. Whew - smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Sold the vast majority of my UCO for a HUGE loss. Bought some USO but keeping some money on sideline for now. Will update actual numbers later.

I should add too that I think OPEC is bluffing with the results of this last meeting.

This sucks. I think the worst thing is that the early wins habituated you into chasing as price continually dropped. We all have big losses. It's just part of the game.

Agreed, and agreed. I chased (gambled) more than I normally would have since I'm going to get crushed on taxes thanks to a lot of long term gains.

I hope you are doing better GB.

KMI just issues a press release stating they are good to go on 6-10% dividend increases for next year. The stock is off 9% today. Pure, blind panic here.

I'm going to start writing puts on $KMI... Jan $17.5...If stock gets put to me under $16...I'll be ok with that.

Also looking to write near term calls on the $SCTY position to reduce risk.

The MM's not playing nice...so it's a game of patience right now.

$RLYP Rumors are that GSK, SNY and Galenica are all bidders in an auction process... Very similar to what happened with ZS pharma

Exciting. Sorry if I've been talking about this too much guys.

Top call of my life.

Dipping in here on oil stocks. Also midstream MLP's which are not really tied to oil prices are looking really nice here.

...

Huge long term opportunity.
You were a little early. I started buying MLPs in the last week or so. YTD MLPs were down ~20-40%. I am buying with dividend yields between 10-14%.
Which ones are you running with?
So far I've bought

ETP

TOO

GMLP

USDP

I tried to buy MMLP but it trades by appointment and I could only get 100 shares.

I'd look at AMLP if you don't want to research the universe--it's an MLP ETF.
What happened with this? It is crapping the bed.

Oof. I appreciated the input, but glad I didn't act on them. Most are down 20-30% since that posting. Hopefully long term they'll be much higher, but it looks like it might take quite awhile.

Hearing word from buddies that some serious axes gonna come down in energy sector before end of year. Mass layoffs. Like 40%-60% workforce cuts.

OLED is killing it. Poised for strong growth in the display sector, OLED TVs and Smartphones including Apple. Also lighing as a kicker. OLED can buck a recession. i've owned it since 5 and even though it is 55 now, few seem to know about it.
