Anyone watch the afterhours action? By close they had given up most of today's gains.

Was the some news after close?

Are we at war with Korea?

My amzn went up a tick after close.

Microsoft, Google, Apple all holding steady. Certain sector that your looking at?

Seems that yesterday was just a mirage as the pendulum swings back the other way today.

Did I miss some bad news or are we "correcting" from yesterday?

So busy at work, but I usually keep tickers in the background.

Was watching tech get crushed all day and DJIA hold up, it was only a matter of time before everything rolled over.

Prob took profits too quickly, but hitting this like this in a 41 minute and 55 second stretch, couldn't risk giving that back. If I'm going to have a not so humble TVIX brag, this is def the place for it. Although, unfortunately, I sold too soon.

@Bob Sacamano Sadly, I've never really touched it outside of a stupid option gamble here or there. It feels good knowing the TSLA bulls have been taken to the woodshed recently though. Company is a financial :tfp:  - I'll always avoid shorting cult stocks though, you never know when they'll implode and that's a great way to get crushed on an investment. You can be 1000% correct on the thesis and still get hammered.

In a hypothetical world.  Let's say Kim goes to China and says "I'm out, hide me somewhere here are my keys" what do stocks do tomorrow?

Yeah, nobody deserves to have bad things happen to them more than people who believe something.
Believing in something <> Sound financial investment

I believe and have hope in a lot of things, doesn't make them all wise investments.

These TSLA bulls have had years upon years listening to overpromises while looking at awful results. I've compared the quarterly reports between them and GM for about 2 years - IDK how anyone can value these companies the same. I think TSLA will eventually fold or be bought for pennies on the dollar. A company can't burn cash like there is an infinite supply of it, one day the chickens come home to roost. Elon Musk is a genius and a visionary, but his disregard for money is not good for a shareholder.

Whenever I've had a conversation with a TSLA bull, all I've heard is how brilliant Musk is and how amazing TSLA cars are - while that might be true, how about their cash burn, consistently missing targets, fudging numbers - if someone wants to disregard the basic principles of investing, that is on them

A homeless woman gets killed while walking across the road in the dark and the market crashes. America 2018. What a disaster.

Why should that feel good to you, though, if you have no financial stake?  Being happy about other people losing money when there's no benefit to you seems extraordinarily petty at best.

I haven't spoken with my father in 12 years. We got into an argument, I don't remember exactly about what, but I'm pretty sure I was right. Do I seem petty to you?

Can you buy 1 year option puts?

I would like to margin every dime I have that FB will become a shell of its former self, and soon. I would want to buy something way out of the money, and then get rich doing this. Elon Musk just gave them the kiss of death.

Yeah you can buy options out through Jan 2020 and strike prices as low as $5.  If you did think the stock price would get cut in half you could buy the Jan 2019 $85 puts for .88 or the $115 puts for $3.50 but that might be throwing your money away, although you would make a killing if you were right :pickle: .  I thought FB would always end up like MySpace until the last couple of years, and now that everyone is running for the exits I kinda like it.  Who knows maybe a block chain social media will eventually start up and takeover, but that still seems too complicated.  I think this data breach is way overblown FWIW, but what do I know I bought Micron yesterday.   I feel like I’m the greatest person at picking a stock peak and being a bag holder   :bag:
You would already be up 77% on the $85 put and 50% on the $115 put :pickle:   :moneybag: .  Kinda wish I would have made that bet instead of getting my ### kicked Friday and today.   :wall:

I didn't have money freed up for AMZN when it was in the mid 1300s when all this volatility started. Might be time to do just that.

I put in a low-ball order for Microsoft. I doubt it triggers but we'll see.

Might just have to move these funds to some more amzn if it continues this free fall.

Anyone still having issues with PEAT not showing up correctly? The symbol is back on my Ameritrade account, but it doesn't show any of the cost, gains/losses, etc., and isn't updating in real time like my other investments.

shows up in Schwab with a 30% loss today.

Any articles out there on the vix thing that went rip about a month back xiv something?  I like reading train wreck stories.

Worst part about AMZN is that I read this story about Trump as soon as it came out, premarket was around $1,509 - thought about shorting, but just couldn't bring myself to shorting AMZN :kicksrock:

Anyways, hopefully Trump keeps jawboning this lower so we can all buy more for cheaper.

#### you, I got tons of this ####.

Cobalt Blockchain is trading .35 cents Canadian.  Be patient as it can sometimes take a while for US tickers to catch up to their Canadian sisters upon a name change.

All other cobalt related stocks are getting pounded today for reasons that are unknown.  The metal pricing hasn't come down, so this is a little askew.

Trump's track record of "going after" companies is poor to say the least.  Amazon will probably be double this price in 12 months.

I think a lot of the year end price targets were fair (until they started getting hiked, same as NFLX)... They ran so hard to start the year, every analyst just raised their targets- they're no better than us at this ####.

$1,650 - $1,750 is a fair end of year target for them, IMO. That's why I sold a little while back just under $1,500, didn't think there was enough upside around $1,500 and a whole year to go to justify continuing holding. Looking to buy back in though.

You'll be fine dude, it's just on paper. They're still the same company you bought.

My advice; either set some levels to buy more if it keeps falling, or don't look at it until at least their next earnings call.
I know how it works, but #### coming here and seeing you be excited about it while on paper I’m losing a ton.

If I told you 2 weeks ago, "hey @Capella, you can buy AMZN at $1,400 in 2 weeks," you would've thought "where the #### do I sign up for that?" Think about that for a second...

It hurts while it is happening, stay calm and BTFD.

I'll say this much, looks like Europe was selling tech hard, look at the Nasdaq and about everything else (tech related) in the last 12 minutes since the European markets closed.

We stepped in and bought, they sold - question becomes, who is right?
