Stock Thread (29 Viewers)

I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business.

:lmao:   This guy......golly.
LOL, this guy is exactly what is wrong with our country right now. Man. Wish I could get more conservatives to just admit that. Like Democrats admitting back in the late 70s that Carter was in over his head. Sometimes things transcend politics.

End rant for this thread.

Almost a 4% difference between the Rusell and the S&p and NAS.  Just jumped into some TZA.

Well grabbed a few thousand UVXY when the tweet broke and made a nice chunk off that (all out now), but sheesh what a surreal world we live in where the president throws hissy fits like a 3 year old and trillions of dollars move on it.

I bought a couple hundred this morning and am holding, because this likely isn't the worst thing that's going to happen to the markets this week.

Dribbling in on Kohl's (it's under $20 where i begin accumulating) and GOLD (been buying anytime it hits the low half of the $27).  Added some INSU as it seemed like it over acted.

Added a share of Amazon.  Had done some light trimming of Fastly and Sea earlier today.  Almost a 10% spread between them today.

Still sitting on 30% cash but electing to move on much else.

Does anyone remember what Amazon stock does on Prime Days?

Looking forward to Prime Day. I need to finally pull the plug on Dish and the old Firestick remotes don’t have the TV remote buttons. It costs more for the remote than the whole package and on Prime Day they’re usually half price.

I know that’s not the answer you’re looking for but I felt like sharing.

Well it's the answer if you buy 1 million of them.

I wonder if Trump intentionally chose market hours to say that no stimulus was coming so that his associates could profit off of it?  It was obvious that the announcement was going to tank the market.  It won't be surprising if he becomes far bolder in his profit making actions from here on out.

I think he's pump full of steroids and is likely to say anything. You could also interpret it as him saying if you vote for me you get $.

Likely he takes it all back in next day or two as his advisers struggle to talk sense into him.

This may be the funniest serious article that I ever read.

Having a hard time deciding if the economic voodoo is better or the "you have to have some losers in your portfolio" investing plan.
I love this one:

He argued that much of the popularity of tech growth stocks, those which generate substantial and consistent cash flows while increasing earnings and revenue at a greater pace than their peers, was down to the fact that real interest rates had been steadily falling in recent years.

No, I think much of the popularity is because of the bolded. I think growing revenue and earnings faster than your peers is how stocks go up. No need to explain it any further. When you do better than the rest of the market, you do better.

I'll be buying these back today at about a 10% discount. My bad move got bailed out.
Besides NFL-Covid concerns, it wasn't unreasonable to sell off some while it was above $60.  DKNG was on a huge run.  Gotta have some brake checks.

So Trump reverses his decision and talks back on.  Didn't see THAT coming.🙄

It's been incredibly stupid that they keep trying to pass some 500 page bill for the past few months rather than just push through the stuff they agree with and work on the rest later.  Oh well, that's our government.   They sure do work hard to get nothing done.

Stonks go up.

Bought a few EOD spy puts. Just have a feeling this stimulus talk is going nowhere and we'll see a flip. Pure gamble lol.

This could change by the minute. Pretty exciting to have a an already scattered President isolated in a bubble with reduced staff while on mania-inducing drugs firing off stimulus tweets that contradict the other stimulus tweets.

THIS NOT MEANT POLITICAL although it is a little.  If you think Biden will win, a bet on oil stocks will be a winner.  No doubt in my mind that oil will go up 25% in the 1st 6 weeks.  His position on fossil fuels is well known.  Also wind & solar could be a winner as government money may be dished out to them.

Just my HUMBLE opinion.

We talk about cause & effect on stocks all the time, this is one of them.

How is Biden good for oil? I don’t think that makes sense. He’s bad for oil. Why would it pop up?

FSLY looking solid. Best decision was to leave it be through all the bouncing around. If it keeps this up, might finally decide to trim a little. Definitely feeling frothy but there’s nothing wrong with holding a stock for a long time if it’s growing well.

Federal lands will be closed for drilling.  He is against fracking(although he flip flops on it depending on who he is talking to.  Oil prices will go up immediatly.

Oh yeah. Just a small gamble though. Already down a little lol.

IPOC merging with Clover Health.  Clover is not making a profit, but growing fast, 3x industry average.  Google Ventures is involved too.  IPOC was $13+ prior to announcement, and now 10.60's.

Is Clover Health that bad, or just not exciting enough?

While we might not have a lockdown like April/May, Covid is going to get bad and people are going to stay home.  This is going to happen worldwide.  Oil prices will likely plummet when that happens.

Not exciting enough for me when I was deciding between IPOB and IPOC. I like the residential real estate market better.

ETA: to be fair I already own CVS and ANTH so more medical insurance was not a good sell for me.

What is your long term take on FSLY? I had it a while ago and sold in the 90's. I couldn't get past the valuation compared to AKAM; now 13B vs AKAM's 17B. AKAM isn't growing as fast anymore, but still growing at double digits and doing more than 10x the rev as FSLY. Does FSLY really have a better special sauce than AKAM to demand the huge premium?

It seems like it. I look at Tik Tok as an example and it just amazes me how fast my kids can flip through and watch videos on that. Even just surfing the web on our phones, nothing is as fast as that and they’ve got some other big time clients like Spotify. It definitely seems like they do have the secret sauce and to a layman like me, it seems really solid.
