Stock Thread (12 Viewers)

Hard to keep up!  I want to invest more but hard to find time. I like to check in on you guys but it is a foreign language half the time when you’re in the middle of a conversation lol
Given the results in here, I’d make some time. Most everyone in here this year knocked a year plus off their retirement timeline. Worth the time imo.

Is this thread primarily short term holds or day trades?
Welcome! Best thread on FBG by far!

No BS politics and everyone on here is beyond great and willing to share and help everyone learn and prosper!

I personally have learned so much ( and have done well financially) due to this thread and the great posters that take time to post!

I wish I could find a stock that everyone could get in and make big money b/c sometimes I feel like such a freeloader.

Personally I have a mix of long term index funds and short(er) term individual stock plays.

Not for everyone. I’m mostly long term with some trading around core positions and usually note which is which whenever I bring anything up. I think most people here are similar while some pure traders are mixed in.
Similar. I'm looking for companies I want to own 5 years+. Sometimes the investing thesis changes and I don't make it there.

Sometimes I just see opportunities for a S-T win and take those. And sometimes that investing thesis changes and I end up holding some of those longer as well.

And as valuations in tech have elevated, I probably find myself writing calls to put money to work as much as anything. But usually on companies that fall into that first group, in case I end up owning them.

With the USA printing zillions of dollars in the last year, thus reducing the value I don't see how gold doesn't appreciate 50% over the next year.

Thoughts?

Sorry - just realized I posted this in the wrong thread. Will copy into the bitcoin thread and then delete here.

Wait. What?
Nope. I haven’t been doing much investing outside of 401ks, mutual funds, before the last two years and I’m only in individual stocks. I’ve got more than enough to make an ETF and I’d bet I have a ton of overlap with those ARK ones and others but nope, no ETFs.

Didn't quite get back (not really "back", I've never sold my shares just buying more) in on the low, but quite happy to have bought 25 shares of SE 2 days ago at $182.

I assume the drunk fisherman got in at $180

Of course, getting RLFTF @ .40 doesn't look as nice. Will buy more if it dips below .30 again

I have no idea about 50% but it seems it should rise a fair bit. Probably at least a good hedge.

Might be worth trying to move some of those mutual funds into ETFs, expense wise. Hell, my advisor is doing that for me in my accounts.

Nope. $182 also :hifive:   One of the reasons I sold near the peak was that it had appreciated above my % of my portfolio rule of thumb (excluding Amazon). Hope to have that issue again soon

My only funds are in 401ks, not sure any ETF options exist. IRA and brokerage accounts are stocks and cash so no expenses except my stock services.

Holding baby, this bull run is just getting started!  We got a good 5 months to go before we get anywhere near the top of this run.

The only hesitation I have is how much of the premium over the actual amount of bitcoin in each share will be affected if a true bitcoin etf is approved by the sec.  Gbtc does trade at a fraction of what the premiums are on other grayscale holdings but it's generally between 12-30%.

I really don't see how people can afford to risk not having 10% of their portfolio in crypto, specifically gbtc.  If I wasn't in now, I would be ready to pounce at the next 10% pullback of btc price.

I'm currently at about 98% in crypto related investments, but I'm also playing with a lifetime of house money so I wouldn't recommend that approach.
Regarding the premium generally being in the 12-30%, can this premium be used as any sort of an indicator that GBTC is "cheap" compared to where BTC is?  Right now it looks like we are about at 14% (BTC 28,300 -- GBTC 31.78), while Monday morning seemed to open up around 23% (BTC 27,300 -- GBTC 33.33).  (I used GBTC premium).

And thanks once again for your BTC and GBTC knowledge that you are sharing.

In for a handful of TRUFF. Let's see if they can eventually make inroads in the US. Now that Oregon has opened Pandoras box.
I sold out all of my MEDFF after a glorious run and have put on a starter position on TRUFF.

Also added some IMMR in my son's account and asked him to do some research on it since he's a bit of a gamer.

I swore off Chinese stocks but I’m really bad at sticking to my guns so I’m going with a small play on FUTU - Chinese online brokerage. Looks ready to run.

Bought some IMMR on the dip today.  Looking forward to tracking this one for awhile.
Gonna be volatile so hang in there. Will be hilarious if we make a bunch of money because Pornhub paid them licensing fees for body suits (as is rumored, not sure if serious.)

If you are considering UVXY as a hedge, this is probably a good time. Its trading down at under 11 and all markets are declining and at daily lows. Vix down .3% and UVXY down much more than that.

If you are going to trade crooked companies with fake books controlled by solcialist regime, you might as well trade the crooked brokage with fake books. What could go wrong?

Because of the deviation between the stock price today and the actual VIX, I'm curious if it has to do with their eom re-balancing? Anyone know anything about that?

In for a half position on TRUFF.  RVVTF has treated me well so far

Tracking IMMR.  I'll ask my gamer stepson, when he wakes up at 4:30 this afternoon, what he knows about their stuff.

VYST was an old penny play. Looks primed for another bounce, might be a week or a month or so. In at .029. Pure gamble play. Still looking for the next legit penny play.

I'm sorry, but I clearly missed something. Why are magic truffles up 6x in a couple of months? And why do we think there's room to run?
