Anyone have a short-term stock play this morning?
Heard Tony Yang pimping PTON November $85 calls last Friday. Those puppies are on sale since PTON has dipped a couple bucks since that piece aired. You can buy the $85 calls and sell the $100 calls for about $4. Gives you about 8 weeks to possibly flip for +$11 if they hit.

I have been holding 10000 shares of DPLS and then buying 20000 more at $0.095 and selling those around $0.11 or $0.12. Done it three or four times. So far so good.

Bought 20000 shares @ $.095 as well today

AMZN seems due for another break-out.  Like a 1000 point break-out, not just a 15-20% gain.  It's been sort of plateau for the past 14 months.  Having Prime Day every day on boat anchors has to run out at some point, right?  Or is that the only cargo ship off the coast of Cali that can get unloaded?

TLDR: No

It sure seems that way doesn't it?

PLTR bouncing back nicely, and against the grain today
That and GBTC appear to have me “less” down. I think there’s a bit more October pain coming, but I have no idea how much.

Hmm, it says I’m now up on the day. We’ll see where we end up.

Housing market cooling off too....sure feels like we're about to get gobsmacked.
Thoughts on GSG?

It's supposed to be a Commodities Index but holdings all seem to be TBills?

It's done well for me (up 35% since entry) as a hedge vs Commodity inflation but curious if that's still a good play.

A lot of the big name stocks have already dropped 10% or more from their highs.  How much more of a correction are people expecting?  I get some of the concerns, but I'm not seeing an across the board drop in the Dow to 30k, Nas 12k or S&P 3700.  Seems more sector by sector doing their retreats/corrections than an overall market.

Hey groovy traders, hope you're all killing it!  Any sure things like CYDY I've missed? *

*Yes, I know things don't look great now but I got out after the pop over $5.

Market is currently over 2 standard deviations above GDP, historically high territory.  There are lots of other signs/triggers that we could be ripe for further correction.

10% drop is not a proper correction given the situation. Double or triple that seems more suitable. disclaimer, I'm a complete And total amateur.

I'm about 35% cash currently.

Upside ROY is limited
Downside ROY could be significant

AAPL has gotten beaten down because of rumored supply chain issues.  It was reported on CNBC this morning that UBS said those rumors are false.  Adding more at these levels.

How are we not looking down the barrel of a significant correction?

I have been absent from this thread awhile, seasonal business etc.  But I feel very similar.  Still sitting on my 401K 2021 contribution in case we have a dip.  Accumulated some cash if opportunities arise in real estate markets.  I have been looking for another rental to add to my portfolio but at least in my local markets it is near impossible to find anything with a suitable ROI.  Sometimes the best move is to wait.  I suspect a real estate market pullback but if we don't get it, rents will have to increase more than they have so far.

Supply chain issues is what knocked Nike's nads in the dirt.  Would have added, but, well....no powder.

Everything I've heard about APPL's sell off is tied to the 10-year.  Rising yield toxic for APPL.

I don't know anything anymore.  I have two stocks in the green and one of them is that stupid Cobalt Block Barf or whatever.  The other is Playgon and that thing is a joke.

We still believe there might be something here?  Or is joke the key word and I should get out and take my 49% loss and move on.

Anybody have an auto-investing setup in an after-tax account?  I'd like to find something I can set up that allows fractional shares of ETFs/MFs so that I can dollar cost average in.  I've poked around Etrade (didn't seem to allow fractional, so it kind of defeats the purpose of DCA) and Fidelity (so far all I've found is a pdf form to complete).

Save that loss for a taxable need.  Could still turn out to be a lottery ticket, but I'm losing hope.
Not trying to rub your noses in it at all. I wasn’t going near that stock solely because of the volume. According to Yahoo, the OTC stock hasn’t traded a share since yesterday morning. It doesn’t have a chart for most of yesterday or today. If you have a sizable amount, it might take days to sell it all and a big sell order might cause a big drop. Last week it looks like 11k shares traded or $2500 total. That’s tough to exit a decent sized position.

Anyone own MRVL? I bought IPHI last October and they got bought by Marvell. Some was distributed as cash, but MRVL is up another 40% (it was up 40% for me before conversion). I was planning to sell it early but just hung on and now I’m wondering if it’s a way better stock than I thought. Seems to be big in data center semiconductors, but I kind of assumed I’d sell it and haven’t really researched.

I sold mine in seconds

I sold it minutes ago
Welp, either Yahoo Finance sucks for OTC stocks or we’ll see your order in a few minutes. Quotes are delayed 15 minutes. Still glad I didn’t buy, I have too many stocks as is, but that volume scared me. I’ve had only a couple trades get split up and not be almost instantaneous, but all of them have constant volume.

😂 There you are. New price and volume finally showing for today. Did you sell a little over $1k worth?

Your post to God's ears, now up almost 1%.

How about asking for 5k per share and a 50-1 split by the end of 4Q21 next.  TIA

I have it from IPHI, but haven't looked into much either

Maybe if you want to sell leave a limit order open high and see what happens.

I'm not selling any shares of Playgon.  I've viewed it as a lottery ticket this long, might as well ride it out.  In Canada, the volume is pretty good today.  Bid .31/ask .34.  Hosting something in Vegas today.

BELIEVE!!!!111

Well the cool thing is that when you sell, we should be able to watch it pop up on the chart!

I own some IEC. Company was purchased and the shares are now not tradable. I missed the window to register to sell shares at the offer price. What's the next step?

Don’t know as all mergers that I have been involved with had shares replacing the existing shares. I don’t recall tendering my shares either but the brokerage did exchange the shares the day of the conversion.

This seems to imply that once the deal is truly complete that you’ll get the cash. I’m not an expert but based on the press release you should see that cash soon as the official merger (not the offer closed on Monday) was going to be completed on Tuesday.

Must be great to always be right.

Rams are a lock this week to bounce off their consolidation last week and reach a new season win total unless there's resistance from the Seahawks bouncing off their 365 day moving average lows.

  He's remarkably accurate with his level predictions... I haven't figured out how to use that  to make money though.

Anyone still in HZAC?  Anyone have any thoughts?  Looks like it will start trading as SEAT on 10/15.

Horizon also announced today a record date of September 7, 2021 (the “Record Date”) and a meeting date of October 14, 2021 for its extraordinary general meeting (the “Special Meeting”) to approve the Business Combination.  The closing of the Business Combination is subject to approval by Horizon’s shareholders, and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions. The Business Combination is expected to close promptly after the Special Meeting.

Upon closing, the combined company is expected to be listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “SEAT.”

It means that I think FLGT will rise in the next few days and so therefore the value of the options will rise accordingly and then I can sell them for a profit. I have no intention of holding those calls until expiration or of owning the stock.

Some background: the reason to do this is that one can "invest" less than $700 to buy a call which represents 100 shares. If I outright bought shares with $700, I'd own like nine of them. Less principal, much more leverage. If the price rebounds to, say $85, which is where it was recently, then those calls will be worth $10 or $11 (meaning, $1000 or $1100), netting a gain of about 50%. Owning stock would yield a gain of about 10%. On the other hand, if the share price remains where it is or drops, then the calls will be nearly worthless.
These PTON November calls are selling for $8.25 this morning, meaning that one could exit the position to net the 15-20% gain, or sell a higher-strike call against it to net some premium and cap gains based on that higher strike price.
