Stock Thread (32 Viewers)

It started out horrible though, have heard stories of a few people that got margin called before it rebounded.
I dont remember when I sold all.  its in this thread.

But boy, I was feeling bad as crypto dropped, now I know, all in the same boat I guess.  Crypto has sucked lately

Really wish I didnt set by buy limits so low today.  None hit.  Most all of them needed to drop like 3-4% more

Still 50% cash in my play money account (roth)
Same here.  We may get another chance, we may not.  I selfishly hope we drop another 10%, rip the bandaid off and then start the recovery.

This came across my news feed and I kind of scanned over it.  I suppose if it's organized and they're knowingly committing a crime you could call it a stock market mafia.  Some of them seem more like "Lefty" two-bit hustler than they do Corleone.  Don't really know enough about where the line of legality is either.

I'm not a shorter, no plans to ever be one, but the market needs them to keep some balance though.

How big of buys were you setting?  Going to deploy half or more of that cash, and are you playing more short or long term?

Not a ton of money.  I only would have bought like 10 grand worth if all my buy limits hit, and that would have had me like 60% deployed.  The bulk of my investing is index funds in my 403b.

I am.pretty close to just buying index funds in my roth and never looking at anything ever again

I got 20 years till retirement, so long term I guess

This was what I was wondering, not how much actual $ amount, and going long.

I do a lot of smaller buys.  I pretty much have all my stocks/ETFs set for what I want to be in so I'm usually adding and trimming through the waves.  I did just start a new position in $WANT.  I saw it around 45, I liked that range so I bought.  Not much.  25% position to get started.  Now it's in the 50's and I'm not adding more here so I'll wait.  Had it dropped to 42's I would have added more.  Maybe not 25% stake, but another 10%.  40's, add another 10-15%.

Thanks for the FLGT stock tip. It was a bumpy ride, but I exited my position with a gain in just two days. Good luck to everyone who continues to hold it.

I could quadruple down on either BLDP or STMH for the same money. Or, for the rest of my cash, I could do the same with QS.

Of course, I could buy a handful of JNJ and wait for the breakup to capture the big return, but I feel like that violates the spirit of this thread. Perhaps I'll circle back to SBLK....

How in the name of all that is good did the market go nuts yesterday?  Other than US GDP and the country opening up, what potential good news is there in the near future.

One theory is shorts covering driving the rally .  It can happen with a gap down https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/put-sellers-incredible-feb-24th-intraday-reversal.

I unfortunately didn’t get any money in, waiting for things to go lower.  The market can do anything, but I’m thinking (hoping) we see some more downside in the coming weeks as another opportunity.

As always I’d love @Todemopinion on if he thinks that was the bottom or not.

Interesting.  I'm not rooting for the market to go down but it just seems odd to me that there are virtually no positive short term indicators.  The fed really needs to increase rates to get inflation under control and give folks other options to park their money.  We need to get back to normalcy.

Should be interesting to see what the market does tomorrow with the ruble in the tank.
I've been thinking more along the lines of the Ukrainian resistance, the possibility of talks, the unity of the West against Putin as all being drivers of more moves in the green.

Lot of Russian money in our market though. Should be interesting.

Futures not looking good I sold some positions in the green on Friday, and added more to TIPS, oil looks like it will spike as well.  Feels like the stock market is a roller coaster.  Putin threatening nukes has the market spooked.

We've seen his tank alpha team stop for gas and get arrested by the local constable.  I would bet his nukes have rusted out 20 years ago.

who do you use? Fidelity is really quick for me
Schwab. It’s getting the money and then  getting it to Schwab. It was an inheritance where the company sending the money was a major pain.

Ironically if we got it a month ago like we should have we’d probably be down 25% so hey sometimes it works out.

I'm pretty sure you know this, but this time of year you can fund two years worth of 401ks for both you and your wife

I took a toehold in ALFI. Anyone else looking at this stock?  AI SaaS company that missed filing some paperwork. On a big rebound

Futures haven't been the best indicators lately.  However, because of the huge run late last week I'm expecting this downturn to hold.  Haven't done any buying yet.  Down around 3% now.  May sit today out unless I got something that goes down 10%+

edit:

It's better to be liquid if you're a pile of ashes.

This just in, Lordstown Motors  won't sell trucks to Russia....

or pretty much anyone,

Lordstown Motors CEO Dan Ninivaggi said the company will initially only sell vehicles to a small amount of pre-selected businesses.  Embattled electric vehicle start-up Lordstown Motors expects to produce and sell up to only 3,000 vehicles through next year, the company announced Monday.
