**Streaming Defense 2015** Week 15 - Playoffs: No time to get cute (1 Viewer)

Been streaming DST but settled on the Panthers as of late. Someone dropped Denver though. Should I drop the Panthers for Denver tonight? Broncos schedule looks really good for the next 4 games before their bye (@DET, vs MIN, @OAK, @CLE)

I would.

Denver is gonna be like Kansas City two years ago. A difference maker at DST. They've been playing like the best defense in the league and could easily end up as the #1 fantasy DST. Right now they are 2nd in points and yards allowed. Great if you get those bonuses

thanks...that's kind of what I was hoping to hear. I might even throw a few FAAB dollars at them just to be sure, which goes against my "never spend money on a dst" rule but this might be a special circumstance

Jets (home against Eagles) vs. Panthers (home against Saints), what say you? If Brees is out, it absolutely has to be Panthers, right? Or are the Jets playing so well that they should just be plug & play at this point (except for maybe vs. Patriots)?

Leaning Jets because of how well they are playing and how bad the Eagles offense has looked.

I'd go Jets if Brees plays, but I would go Panthers if Brees doesn't. I agree with Insein above that the Eagles will be a tough game, especially if Decker is out. If Decker is out, I think the Jets may have a tougher time on offense and I think the Eagles will be going all out to avoid 0-3. I could be wrong, but without Brees, I don't think the Saints will do much at all. Norman can take out Cooks and the front 7 (if Keuchly is back) will keep the running game from doing much. Also, Saints on the road.

With how bad the Eagles secondary has looked so far, I don't think it matters very much who the Jets have at WR. Marshall will be more than adequate to carry the load. However, I pretty much think Fitzpatrick stinks so there is that

Jets and Broncos are 2 awesome Ds worth holding on to. Each have 2-3 games that you might want to bench them, but they are worth keeping those weeks. Lots of really juicy match ups.

Well, one of those Jets games was last night vs. Indy, and that turned out just fine. I'm not benching the Jets vs. anybody right now. Especially when the matchup plays are the likes of the Ravens (-5) last week...I love their style..

Throwing a few dollars at this Panthers, Im assuming Brees doesnt play this week and I like their TB matchup next week...Shocked people are saying NYJ are available to them, that's definitely a D you want to get now and hold on to.

Where do you get these lines for individual matchups?

What are you guys who are dropping Miami picking up?

Bills, Jets, Denver were all drafted in my league. If I dump Miami it will be for Giants at home vs Washington, Cincy at Baltimore, or either side of the Dallas/Atlanta matchup. None of these are very exciting or meaty, would I be crazy to ride Miami one more week in hopes they will play more like week one's 15 points instead of last week's zero?

Maybe they just had a bad day?

Been intent on streaming D's this season, however, today I have ludicrously managed to pick up Broncos AND Jets off the wire and dump the Dolphins. Don't usually like holding two Ds but hard to imagine not just keeping both for ROS and playing the better match up each week.

Grabbed NYJ off waivers, might roll with them ROS
They're out there in one of my leagues. Seem really tempting to scoop them up after their bye week and roll with them. Outside of the NE game in Week 7, they have a ton of good matchups in the 2nd half of the year

So far this year I suck at streaming D. Currently sitting at 9th of 10 teams in total points for the D... lol.

GB in week 1 and STL in week 2 just did not live up to the expectations. Currently have NE starting as I picked them up from WW... decent option this week I think against Bortles

It's still early enough in the season that great options simply get dropped, so always check what's been discarded through waivers. DEN, CAR, NYJ, HOU, and so on are often available. If your benches allow it and if DSTs give you significant points, I always think it's worthwhile to hang on to a pair of DSTs, ideally including a solid one you can use every week if need be (DEN for example), and with the other a streamer or even a solid DST that someone panicked and dropped.

Jets were there after waivers so I grabbed them. I'm starting them more for my own hope that having them on my fantasy team means the Eagles will actually play well.

But logically, this matchup looks overwhelming on paper.

I dropped Carolina this week and will be riding the Broncos until their bye unless they start having key injuries.

I thought about rotating CAR with DEN, but in my experience the ebbs and flows of the season make it hard to predict in late September where teams will be at between Thanksgiving and Christmas (FF crunch time.) I'd rather roster upside guys like David Johnson, Matt Jones and take a flyer on Travis Benjamin than hold onto a Panthers defense that likely would be sitting until Week 7. Broncos have a cream puff month coming up.

I'm in a best ball league where we start 2 so I'm keeping one and streaming the other.

Does Alonso's injury submarine any hopes for philly D? Didn't they put up points last year? Yes I'm scrounging. In general not just this week

Somehow, someway, Jets dropped to the wire. I've been monitoring this thread as I drafted Buffalo and they have not been as stellar as I thought based on their paper strength. Not exactly streaming question, but would you drop Buffalo for NYJ if you had to?

Yes, without a doubt.

Jets have played Cleveland and the Colts. There may be doubt.
You think Indy at home is a good matchup?

This year or last?

And you did see that Buffalo faced New England right?

Why is no one mentioning defenses that are actually available to pick up?
yeah i keep seeing Denver and NYJ in this thread. Meanwhile NE is available in both my leagues and i just wanna make sure nobody is mentioning them because they should be rostered

Statistically speaking here's the top defenses so far and their ownership on yahoo (some scoring systems may vary).

Denver 77%

Carolina 75%

NY Jets 64%

Kansas City 62%

New England 91%

Cleveland 26%

Arizona 93%

Tennessee 9%

St Louis 92%

Cincinnati 17%

Seattle 99%

Dallas 12%

Philadelphia 78%

I just dumped Miami for Cincy. Also considered KC. In short-roster leagues, streaming defenses is pretty easy.

Thought about dropping them, but once Jets got snapped up there wasn't much available. So I think I'm going to roll with them for at least one more week and hope they finally live up to their hype. Can't believe I drafted them over Denver.

The way the Bills have been putting up points, I don't particularly like trying Miami again.

At this point, I'd either drop Miami, or bench them and wait until weeks 6 and 7 where they seem to have better matchups.

I was absolutely kicking myself after all my drafts for not pursuing Miami more, and acquiring them everywhere.

I took the "plunge" and nailed Denver in all my leagues, essentially 4/4.

So there is your warning kids.

They are a shoo-in for multiple injuries at this point. :D

Seriously, if I have learned anything this year, its to remember what I thought the prior year, and the one before that.

"Whatever we thought we knew preseason, is probably about 10% as good as it actually turns out to be".

You never know..........remember the year the Bears defense blew up and was the *hot thing* there for one season?

I distinctly remember them actually being traded for significant value that year mid season. I seem to remember multiple 20+ games, with one or two huge blowups also, and going into the season nobody thought they would have a top tier defense.

I was fortunate to back into the Denver defense this year, and I even dropped the STL defense prior to week 1 in one league to acquire them, what a lucky break.

I'm good for now, but the storm is coming, they have a bunch of tough matchups later in the season....then the streaming will start again.

TZM

Why is no one mentioning defenses that are actually available to pick up?
Because leagues are different, sometimes the defenses you don't think should be on the wire are dumped (because of owners scrambling for depth elsewhere), and many other reasons.

I get that the notion of streaming defenses is normally focused on bottom 16 Ds, but I think because Ds' perfomances -- even the top rated Ds -- can be fluid, it's a useful discussion when a normally drafted D hits the wire around whether to abandon streaming, discuss the projections of a good D over the rest of the season vs streaming poorer Ds with better matchups, etc.

Sean Payton putting up the smokescreen on whether Brees plays sunday but I'll take my chances he doesnt and CAR D gets another plus matchup vs TB next week.
