I feel exactly the same way. While the characters are sympathetic at times, they can be very annoying and spiteful. Still, interesting show. Thanks for the suggestion on Halt and Catch Fire whoever suggested. Almost done with the first season and enjoying it immensely despite pretty much hating all the main characters.
I think the writing is pretty good but the Margaret proposal scene was bone-crunchingly bad.I thought S1 was better than S2. Man, it's a beautiful looking show, but, the writing could use some help.
Agreed that Foy is great. But her replacement is a stud in her own right. Big fan of her, and no doubt she'll kick ### in the role.
I mean, they could age Foy for one more season, I guess, but, this thing is supposed to run for five more seasons/decades, and Foy sure can't play the queen in her 70s, 80s, or 90s. Same with her husband. I think they'll be fine switching things up.
I think cameron is the weak spot on the show.I feel exactly the same way. While the characters are sympathetic at times, they can be very annoying and spiteful. Still, interesting show.
Enjoying this a lot.Norsemen
Norwegian sitcom (in english) set in Viking times around 790AD. Think The Office for the viking set. Hilarious.
eta: Who knew slaves could be fertile comic grounds?
Its on Netflix? I never saw season 1Just started Fargo. four episodes in, feels like a keeper. Really like Billy Bob's charcter.
One of the best shows out there... I wish it were on US Netflix.Just started Fargo. four episodes in, feels like a keeper. Really like Billy Bob's charcter.
So the take away I have here is approximately 4 hours of folding? I know you have a baseball team at your house but holy hell man, my family doesn't own 4 hours of clothes to fold ;-)I had a boatload of laundry to fold, so I just watched two movies that I think are pretty crappy:
- The Last King, Norwegian with subtitles - set in the 1200s, nothing in it is any good.
- Godzilla, Japanese with subtitles - it's a new series, and this was the kickoff movie. Animated. The animation was interesting, but the movie blew and I won't return for the rest of the series.
this is where I was with it too. it's not bad, but didn't captivate me in any way. stopped at two or three episodes... too many other things to watch when I have time to watch.Started watching Longmire.
This isn't great television. It reminds me of a typical cop show from the 70's. Cracking a new case each episode.
Not a lot of cast members for them to develop a lot of interesting stories. I like it enough to keep watching it as a time waster.
we're all pretty much in agreement about that... and I wish I could say it gets better. there's some discussion about whether the actor is doing a bad job, or if it's just that the character is meant (written) to be that way. either way, it's a bit distracting. but at the end of the day, doesn't interfere with what becomes a pretty compelling tv show.I watched the first episode of Mindhunters. The lead is such a bad actor and the dialogue/direction is extremely awkward at times. When he met his girlfriend in the bar it was cringeworthy. IMO.

Thanks... maybe I'll give it a couple more episodes and see how it goes.we're all pretty much in agreement about that... and I wish I could say it gets better. there's some discussion about whether the actor is doing a bad job, or if it's just that the character is meant (written) to be that way. either way, it's a bit distracting. but at the end of the day, doesn't interfere with what becomes a pretty compelling tv show.
it's definitely worth the watch, IMO. IIRC, it takes a bit to get rolling- most of the first episodes are history/back story into the creation of what he's doing and not really about actually using profiling. it got better for me once the show started getting into that more.Thanks... maybe I'll give it a couple more episodes and see how it goes.
finish it bromigo my lady and i did and it has a nice twist take that to the bank brochachowe started watching Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable, a "documentary" about the story behind a recent Damien Hirst exhibition. a couple minutes in, the wife and I both come to the same conclusion that it's not a documentary at all, but a fictional myth creation behind his work which is claimed to have been discovered in the ocean off the coast of africa. after a couple viewings, we're about 2/3 through... can't tell if it's brilliant (the style is pretty high quality for a documentary- it's well made- plus the concept is pretty interesting to me, creating a creation story for the exhibit) or crap (the "discovered" art and objects are a bit hokey and the writing and delivery is a bit too 'written' rather than off the cuff the way a doc should feel). not sure I"m going to finish it, but it's gotten me thinking about art at least.
i found it mostly disappointing. that's not to say it's not watchable but expectations were not met. i don't think i'll be looking at S2 unless something changes.it's definitely worth the watch, IMO. i sort of feel like the socially-awkward-nerdy-but-brilliant detective/doctor/chef/whatever is currently tapped out. it's sad that it ended for me with this guy on this show but whatever. after recent years of this being overdone - thank you Cumberpatch for starting it - audiences may have become too accustom to it but it needs to take a break. instead of TV's torture porn ("Hannibal", for example) perhaps it's worth revisiting old episodes of "Columbo" instead?exactly how i felt about it
it doesn't really go anywhere
Literally watching right now. On episode 5. It's pretty good but I'm glad it's short.I didn't go back to look and the search function is fruitless, so I'll just ask. Sorry if it's been discussed already.
Anyone else watch "The End of the F***ing World"? What an odd show. 8 episodes, all 20-22 minutes long, so you can binge it in under 3 hours if so desired. Ultimately a (very) black comedy about teen angst through the lens of of two wayward British 17 year olds.
Totally agree. Would have been really easy to become "too much" - the small doses kept it palatable.Literally watching right now. On episode 5. It's pretty good but I'm glad it's short.
I felt very similar. Both seasons were good but I think S1 was more entertaining to me.I thought S1 was better than S2.
I'm in about the same spot.Totally agree. Would have been really easy to become "too much" - the small doses kept it palatable.Literally watching right now. On episode 5. It's pretty good but I'm glad it's short.
I haven't watched it yet, but saw the little commercial last time I was on Netflix. The kid is also from Black Mirror, where he whacked it to child pron and killed some dude.Evilgrin 72 said:I didn't go back to look and the search function is fruitless, so I'll just ask. Big fan and the new season starts March 1 iircsaintfool said:Almost finished with "Atlanta" and it's a big hit with me. Funny, bubbling with ideas, and decidedly original. I really like a show that I don't know where any episode is going, much less the season.
So was that it? No season 2? If so that was a pretty good little contained story.Evilgrin 72 said:I didn't go back to look and the search function is fruitless, so I'll just ask. Sorry if it's been discussed already.
