I'm about 3 episodes into The Man in the High Castle ..

The only issue I have so far is "The Marshall".. Dislike when any show has a character who happens upon every piece of evidence needed..

If its not too late for you pull the rip cord on high castle.  I really really disliked it and made myself finish it because of what I had invested in it.

if he's into it so far, it's not like it gets worse.

fwiw- I liked it ok and finished the show... mostly from a conceptual standpoint, and also from some extremely quality acting performances (mostly the elder japanese). the young leads were all pretty poor, and the overall storyline and writing didn't do a good job of taking that concept to a better place it deserved. but the world-building was good- and IIRC, snogger is one of the resident TWD die-hards.... as such (and his ability to not be bothered by a myriad of stuff within a tv show) I think he'll enjoy this on.

Yea, I do tend to "let things go" when it comes to shows I've invested in and want to see how it ends, aka TWD...

Saying that, I do like the premise..
But if "The Marshall" continues down the path he has so far, and with this "ringing" endorsement, I won't feel bad about bailing after season 1..

When I last visited this thread a couple weeks ago, I was bored struggling through Bosch, which I haven't finished. 2 eps to go. I started Narcos and couldn't look away through all five seasons and went straight into Zero Zero Zero. Love both, but I decided to fire up Deadwood alongside 0 0 0. Can't look away again, so the crazy finish to 0 0 0 is on hold. Deadwood feels like Shakespeare meets Cormac McCarthy. So good. Love the cast. Love the writing/dialog. S2E7, sad there isn't more than three seasons. Strongly endorse all but Bosch.

I've said it before, but Deadwood is the most eloquent use of cursing I've ever seen in media.  And usually gratuitous cursing is a turn off for me in entertainment.  But when Al Swearengen discusses two San Francisco gentlemen with Wu I absolutely lose my ess.  I could watch that scene 1000 times.

Why do you say that? It's not like Milch quit Deadwood so he could work on John from Cincinnati. HBO axed Deadwood because it was too expensive I thought, and JFC was just his next project.

Tbh I don't really remember the exact reason...I think it had to do with how networks wanted to pay. Like Warner bought hbo or something. Then milch declined some half season or something.....I just wanted the JFC joke

I feel like a curmudgeon who can’t like a show that millions seem to love.  I chugged through the first two seasons but stopped around S3E3.  I loved The Office (not so much the post-Michael seasons), and loved Parks and Rec, but Community just hits you over the head again and again with “we shouldn’t let character X’s actions/beliefs/feelings get in the way of friendship, we love each other, let’s sing kumbaya now”.  Every single episode it feels like is the same regurgitated script, spend 15 minutes with everyone mad/upset with someone, then group hug at the end bc of something Jeff says and it’s all roses again.  Troy and Abed is good comedy, but Britta is maybe the most annoying character ever on tv, I can’t stomach YNB’s syrupy sweet Shirley voice, Chang is the opposite of funny, and I can’t take any more Dean puns.

I liked it, but the show tries to be too meta. There is also zero chance those people stick together for more than 5 minutes.

I am right there with you.  I loved The Office, I am a few seasons into Parks and Rec and loving it, but bailed on Community after a couple seasons despite my deep love for Alison Brie.

I put it on as background noise mostly when I'm playing mobile games. Every once in a while I'll laugh at something but I'm not a fan of McHale. Chang and Pierce are the funniest parts.

"Dave" on FXX is pretty damn funny.  Even if you are not a rap fan, still a great show.

Give episodes 1 and 2 a shot (with no kids around)...good stuff.

Rewatching Sense8. Artfully shot, weird but interesting sci-fi premise and good looking girls getting naked. WARNING: not all of the sex stuff is easy to watch. The two seasons pass pretty quickly and painlessly. In fact, I missed the two and a half hour season finale they shot after Netflix had cancelled it (because it was an expensive show to make) so I get to see something new, too.

Veronica Mars was a really good show.  Haven't seen the movie or the recent season though.  

Original series was really good although its a step down in season 3 after the network got involved and forced them to change their format up. Did not like the movie (although seeing so many of the old characters/actors back was fun) or new season much at all. Chicks dig bad boys and all, but the showrunner/Veronica's constant infatuation with Logan is beyond dumb... and the way they finally resolved that was even worse in the new Hulu season.

Hollywood- half way through this not knowing what this was about per se and largely on the Ryan Murphy pedigree. A lot of gay sex thus far. 7/10.

Finished Hollywod a few days ago, and didn't like it.  It started off well with the dark side of early Hollywood and the struggles of gays, women, and African Americans.

Then *poof* bad guys turn in to good guys and all of the barriers are broken at one time.  Maybe going in I just wasn't expecting it to be a happy ending type of show.

Watched Battered Bastards of Baseball last night about the Portland Mavericks and its owner Bing Russell (Kurt's dad).  Great fun!  Such a cool sports story I had no idea about prior.  If you love baseball and whacky characters this is the perfect documentary.

I thought the animated series was 100x better than the movie, so if they kind of like that, they may really like the series. 

Only 3 seasons so the plot moves well, fantastic characters, and a refreshing mix of goofy kid fun that provides some comic relief from a relatively dark story for an animated series (relating to the devastation/toll of war).

I watched the television series with my son many years ago.  Since then, he's bought the disks and all the graphic novels and read/watched them many many times.  He's 15 now and I still find him reading or watching them pretty often.  The 3 season television series is fantastic children's television imo.  The spinoff - Legend of Korra - is supposedly also quite good, although I've not seen it myself.

Not tv shows, but I noticed yesterday that Joker (the Joaquin Phoenix one) was just added to HBO, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Tarantino) is on Hulu, and I saw that Uncut Gems is coming to Netflix next Monday 5/25 if anyone else like me hasn't been to a theater in a while.
