White Lotus 2 finale tonight. Internet is abuzz with predictions.

Anyone know when these become available on HBO Max?
blah. I just don't get the love for this show. It basically goes nowhere and does nothing. It seems like there should be something happening but then nothing happens.
It is a character driven drama / dark comedy. Great settings, music/vibe, and some shock moments. I like the slow development of the story and seeing how they arrive at the end which we already know is bad from the beginning. I understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

I got to say I was loving season 2. The finale wasn't quite as good as it was setting up to be but still was a great season IMO.

I had no idea who wrote it but watched the inside the show thing at the end of this season's finale and it was a guy who I mostly knew from being on Survivor and Amazing Race.

Alice in Borderland is Squid Game.
Legend of Vox is a funny animated D&D campaign.

Wrapped up 1899, gets pretty good
I'm only 2 episodes in and I like it a lot. Not a lot of lighting in the scenes, an ominous slow burn with intermittent jolts. The captain has already pretty much gone insane, innocent green bugs that mean something, the kid who might just be quiet or might kill somebody, etc.

I just finished episode 5 and things really kick up a notch. Its the first time I looked for a recap to see what the hell I just watched.

Now that season 2 is over, we’re going to fire it up starting Thursday. So pumped - loved season 1!

George and Tammy on Showtime has started out strong for the first two episodes. The backstory between the two is well known, so you know where all the big scenes are headed even as they begin. It's well written and well acted by Shannon and Chastain.

The only minor quibble is how much better looking, virile and healthy the two actors are over their counterparts. I know it is difficult to replicate the ravaged look of a lifetime of booze/cigarettes/pills/broken relationships and bad decisions, but Jessica Chastain is luminous no matter how much they try to "plain" her down. Shannon has the posture and build of Johnny Cash.

If the series had been made sometime back, Billy Bob Thornton would had made for a more realistic physical portrayal of George Jones.

We only just watched the first one but enjoyed it so far. I really don't know much about the story so don't know what's to come. I do think they jumped a little too quick into the relationship and could have built a little more on that. Maybe cut back on some of the full songs but I'm not a big country fan so others might disagree.
I wouldn't know George Jones if I saw a picture of him but looking them up, they didn't seem so weathered looking in their early years together.

So who has the first home in Italy?

:lmao: I knew exactly what the "fix" was going to be before I even clicked!

The Killing (Hulu)

I haven't watched it since it originally aired. Currently rewatching S1.
I was hesitant because for whatever reason, I have a clear memory for most of the story and how it ends but I was desperate for something dark and brooding.
My biggest take away is that Joel Kennaman as Det. Holder is just amazing! And Mireille Enos as Det. Linden has the "dark and brooding" part completely covered! :-)

I assume you've watched Hanna, also with Enos and Kinnaman?

The foreign version is even better. The name is Forbrydelsen.

I haven't seen this yet but from what I have read they are using the sanitized version of Tammy Wynette created for the public. If you are interested in the true story of these two(as sad as it is), i would recommend listening to season 2 of Cocaine & Rhinestones. It's a podcast done by Tyler Mahan Coe and the second season is all about George and the people in and around his life and music. 19 episodes, and the intros take a while to understand, but it is the most researched history of these two that i am aware of. Highly recommend.

Maggie (Amazon) - a Schwarzenegger zombie movie! I had never heard of this, but it’s Ahnold and Abigail Breslin - she’s been bitten and it takes a few weeks to turn. Very slow pace, also slow zombies (just a couple really). The slow turning speed gives father and daughter (and townsfolk) some time to really dwell on some options that most zombie movies require snap decisions on. The final scene told a great story compared to all earlier flashbacks the daughter had. I think this was a good movie.

Just FYI, for those of you who have Verizon:

Netflix Premium free for a year

So how does the “free” 12-month Netflix subscription offer work?

To claim the offer, customers must purchase either an annual or seasonal subscription to one of a few other streaming offerings on +play. This includes season subscriptions to NBA League Pass or NFL+ Premium or an annual subscription to AMC+, Peloton App, Calm or Super Duolingo, Verizon says.

These services each have separate costs, billed either annually or seasonally, but customers only need to purchase one to get the Netflix offer.

Here’s a breakdown of the streaming services/applications and their costs:

AMC+ (entertainment) — $83.88 annually
NFL+ Premium (sports) — $24.99 seasonally
NBA League Pass (sports) — $89.99 seasonally
Calm (meditation/wellness) — $69.99 annually
Peloton App (fitness) — $129.99 annually
Super Duolingo (language education) — $83.99 annually

I'd recommend that series also. Huge George fan, Dad always had it on in the car or in the shop. George was quite a character.

Fido (Tubi): a Stepford zombie movie! Set in the 50s after a collar has been invented to domesticate zombies and use them as servants. It’s a comedy, and while it was never LOL funny, I had a smirk the whole time watching it. There were some background things that were funniest to me - dredging the pond and they pull out a boot. “That’s a boot, throw it back!” Fricken 50s. Carrie-Anne Moss as a Stepford wife was cool to see, about as far from Trinity as possible. Silly movie, not bad.

I just finished episode 5 and things really kick up a notch.
They certainly do. I'm now up to episode 6 which kicks things up much more. I hope they haven't created too much mystery to solve and too few episodes to solve it in. Probably will finish it tonight.

Emily the Criminal is a solid watch. Aubrey Plaza plays a late 20's college dropout with piles of debt that gets involved in a criminal enterprise and finds she has a knack for it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It’s nice to see Aubrey play a character other than Aubrey Plaza (though she does channel just a little bit of her inner Aubrey).

I don’t know what you were looking for but that show has tons of story and was really really good.
Tons of story lines that don't go anywhere. It was well acted and done well it just never really went anywhere. I mean I kept watching but I expected it to go somewhere. It just basically went blah. Never really went anywhere.

Yeah, the finale had me with more questions and it didn't really wrap anything up...kind of made the whole season meaningless a bit.

It wound up making us make assumptions about certain characters vs being more concrete about it and misses a huge part of the back story with how it ended so we can't really connect the dots. I wasn't expecting that type of show with this based on Season 1 but I did still enjoy it. Not sure how they do a 3rd season now.
