The Residence on Netflix is enjoyable if you like quirky detectives who can solve peculiar crimes committed amongst an ensemble of characters in a prestige locale. This one is a murder mystery at the White House committed during a State Dinner for Australian delegates . Bunch of fun and known actors and a nice extended cameo by Kylie Minogue. I'm not familiar with the lead actor, Uzo Aduba, but I can see her parlaying this role into a good career. She is likable, astute, and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Recommend for some binge watching.
She was a lead in Orange is the New Black... Which I never saw, but know about because I like what the actress is doing here.

Yeah... It's fun.
She was one of the best parts of OITNB.

Really well acted and a tough subject matter.

the subject matter is tough and I'm the farthest from squeamish you're gonna get, but the way they cover everything in the first episode had me squirming in my chair. Stuff like that with kids is hard to see.
Yea tough but to me, the son in the 2nd episode setting dad straight was exactly real life. The whole series was, just because it's tough subject matter doesn't mean it shouldn't be out there (not saying that either of you are saying that btw). Parents should watch this because there's a lot more of it out there than they realize. That whole subtle bullying thing that you & I wouldn't even recognize until some kid in HS deciphers it was very well done.

1923 season 2 started slow but it’s picked up, including tonight’s episode.
Now time to start mobland
Did anybody else laugh when Banner said to Whitfield, "That's someone's daughter"...
no? Maybe it's because I'm not into S&M but the scenes are a low point for me. I get it though...they are a plot device intended to show that Whitfeld is a bad guy and add some sex and nudity into the show. I feel like they are a bit unnecessary though. Clearly, it was designed to show that Banner is not all bad.

Started White Lotus 3 last night and I'm not sure what the criticisms are here, I LOVE it. I got through the first two episodes last night and was about to start a 3rd but it was close the midnight and that's too late for me these days. :bag:

But now I cannot wait to put the kids to bed and turn this one. It's got a hedge fund manager going through financial Armageddon, it's got wine-swilling women who fit a certain age demographic I find very alluring, it's got home-erotic tension, it's got a hooooooooor, it has cute English gal with wretched teeth. And I think that Goggins guy is up to something!
Finally started it a couple days ago.

This show is utterly fantastic. There's just so much to love about it.

This might be my favorite season yet.

Yeah, I'm loving it too. I've liked them all and this one has me hooked. Only one episode left, though, and I'm kinda sad about it.
Creator Mike White is this guy.

He also was in survivor.

I know him from Chuck and Buck. If you guys haven't watched that one, grab a few of your buddies, a case of beer and enjoy one of the great buddy comedies of all time. Maybe even ask your parents to watch.

Sure! I'd even invite the minister. Clean, wholesome fun!

Shows just don't hit people the same. For example I've tried to get into Lost like 10 times and just can't. Doesn't mean its a bad show. Just didn't hit with me. White Lotus isn't for everyone. It just hits with me. This season feels like watching a stick of dynamite and your waiting for it to explode. Just a great story and production for me.

Anyone watching nine dead bodies in a mexican morgue? I'm two episodes in and it's pretty entertaining. It's got the guy from Will and Grace in it and it's like a cross between Lost meets 10 Little Indians.

Watched episode 2 last night and agree with everything here. This is a very well done show in pretty much every aspect. Maybe I wasn't prepared for how real things got in episode one (the arrest, the police, the kid, the dad it was so real and uncomfortable), but with episode 2 I knew what to expect and was able to enjoy more of the details and cinematics. We'll hang in till the end.

As I'm watching and everything is single take i was so amazed at how much of a beast the camera guy must be, until the end of the episode and the camera flies up for a high attitude shot. I had to Google what was going on here and they seamlessly transfer the camera from the operator to a drone. Very cool how this show is shot.

Great flick. Just first among its peers with dramatic and moving characters. Really can’t stress enough that it puts the moving in moving pictures in a good and often warmly funny way. Not overdone. Couldn’t recommend more if settling in for the night with your wife or significant other.

Long standing joke on the board.. sorry. I have (4) daughters.. obviously I'm not into seeing women tortured ... glad a few people got it though. I was worried...

With only one episode left, any predictions on what happens to the characters in White Lotus? Loving the season but hasn't approached the elite levels of S2.

The Pitt has some phenomenal acting by the medical crew, but I'm also digging the outstanding acting from all the ER patients.
I can't imagine losing a child, or even acting like I have lost a child.
Best show on TV. Dam near flawless if you ask me. Every actor (all of which are new to me) is on point. Noah is absolutely crushing it.
Honestly don't see a weakness in the entire show.

Tough call. This could go in so many different directions. My money is still on the security guard shooting someone. That pep talk Mook gave him at dinner kinda sealed my opinion at least for me.

Along those lines, I hope Gaitok finds daddy Ratliff snooping around his post looking for the gun and caps his *** in cold blood for being such a boring character. Then he grabs Mook and bangs her in the shed.

There’s gonna be a poisoning (deliberate or accidental) probably via that damn blender — why else would they have told us in episode 1 that there were poisonous fruits on the property?

Daddy Ratliff was great when he was drug- free and yelling at people on his phone. Then they took his phone away and gave him lorazepam and he’s been a zombie ever since.

Really wish we had a one off episode of Goggins and Rockwell partying it up in Bangkok. That would have made up for the Ratliff

I love this show. My only disappointment; the step son and girlfriend Pittfest story was, IMO, very predictable.

I really have no idea but I'll give it a shot

- I still think a monkey gets a hold of the gun after another Gaitok screw-up and it's another red herring the show throws at us.
- Saxon or someone bites it with the poison fruit in a smoothie.
- Greg/Gary's body is in the water (from the first episode).
- Rick and Chelsea have a happy ending as Rick has now got rid of his demons and can show her true love. Awwww.
- Malfoy and the Duke family is the hardest to predict. I'm going to say they pull a reverse and all stay in Thailand, except the daughter whose real motivation was to get away from everyone and she ends up going home.

My search came up empty so apologies if this was previously discussed, but did anyone keep up with Outer Range? I watched S1 and am just now realizing that they already did S2. Worth it? I may need to watch the last episode of S1 to refresh my memory...

I'm a fan and have discussed it in here. Brolin and the cast are great in this... and yes, S2 is worth it (gets whacky).

it's not upper-elite stuff, but it's consistently good, interesting and weird.

for what it's worth- the search function does work.

I started season 2, listening to Autumn call out "Royal" caused me to have PTSD to the Walking Dead and Rick calling out "Carl" so I bailed. It might have been long enough for me to give it a go again

But why is Brenda's son Zion in the water? Because a monkey has a gun?
My guess on the body is one of the Russians, shot and killed by Gaitok who is emboldened after Mook's push to be tough.
I think Brenda takes the money and Greg/Gary split once she does.
Agree on Rick and Chelsea.
Agree that the Hedge Fund family stay in Thailand, except for Piper who wants away from all of them.
I'm guessing the three frenemies make up and leave on good terms never to speak about what really happened in Thailand.

The only reason for my monkey theory is because in the first two seasons, the initial death is a red herring to what is really going on. Season 1 they made you think the body being loaded onto the plane was the wife, and in Season 2, Stiffler's mom died accidently.

Well.....I mean, weren't they going to kill her before she flipped the script?

Not sure, but it's definitely become a thing where they add a lot of misdirection with the season deaths. Gaitok getting some balls and being the shooter makes too much sense and is very predictable. But who knows.

I'll be very disappointed if he takes a bullet simping for Mook.

Just finished both seasons of Severance.

I thought the first season and the first several episodes of the second season were pretty good with lots of potential. Then it seemed to bog down and go nowhere until the last episode, which was dramatic but featured a surprise ending not supported by the narrative up til that point.

It's pretty clear they started stringing out the story to leave enough for future season(s). I mean, a whole episode of Harmony going to some drug-ridden cold coastal town? Just there to stretch things. The end, with him running back to Hellie, made no sense except to set up something in a future episode (which would happen to be in a future season, duh).

Favorite character was Devon.
iMark running back to Helly made perfect sense. iMark doesn't even know Gemma and is in love with Helly. iMark also knows that walking out that door would have been effectively committing suicide. He chose to take whatever small time he had left with the love of his life rather than the alternative which was, in his mind, his immediate death.

honestly, the season 2 finale also works perfectly for a series finale if they were to choose to go that route.

Here's one for misdirection....

Saxson murders Lochlan. In an homage to Lord of the Flies, the character with the most amount of innate goodness is the one killed.

With only one episode left, any predictions on what happens to the characters in White Lotus? Loving the season but hasn't approached the elite levels of S2.

He most likely roots for Duke. That takes away a lot of innate goodness.

I’m not sure Lochlan is the one that fits the description, given what I think really happened on the boat — Lachlan never took the drug and knew exactly what he was doing to his brother.

Belinda probably has the most innate goodness. Chelsea thinks she does but really doesn’t.

Yep. The perfect ending there is that he defies both sides of his family and goes to NC State.

Also, I don’t think the family can afford Duke anymore.

I didn't realize Lochlan didn't take the drug. Was that disclosed? He gulped it down IIRC. He also said he blacked out.

I don't understand how they are still staying at The White Lotus if the Feds froze all their assets.....the credit card company would be in contact with the hotel to alert them, right?

Lochy not taking the drug is a theory from upthread.
