I've been streaming a little-known series called "Breaking Bad". I'm sure none of you have heard of it.It's really good.
I'm into season 3 so I'll be finished soon. What's the next best non-HBO/Showtime drama to check out? Madmen? Sons of Anarchy? Both of these are very good, but very different. I think Sons was an "easier" watch. It felt like I flew through the series in two weeks top, couple episodes a night. Mad Men is just as good, but it didn't fly by as quickly for me. I would typically watch only one episode a night, and not every night.I've been streaming a little-known series called "Breaking Bad". I'm sure none of you have heard of it.

For $9.99? Do you think Netflix should cost $50 a month, or do you think studios should get out of the business of making money? The bolded requires one or the other.Really disappointing start to November. Not sure what Netflix is doing but very little new content worth watching.
They seem to have a lot of good "TV" shows but in terms of movies they just get weaker and weaker. I think by this point they should be able to stream every movie that was up for say Best Picture last year or was nominated in multiple categories, maybe even the last 4-5 years worth of those types of films.
I'm watching the Munsters, Addams Family, Frasier(However they somehow clipped out the best episodes), Mad Men, Breaking Bad...this stuff is nice as I don't have to tune in every week and sit thru commercials but honestly Netflix needs to pick it up in terms of movies.

I'm saying they need more movies streaming. Certainly stuff in the last year or two that was on the indie side and never found an audience at the theaters, yes they should be streaming that stuff. It's not costing them money to do it.
It's not costing who money? And why not?TBS has newer movies than Netflix Mr A.D. I'm saying they need more movies streaming. It's like you have no understanding at all of the business. Most movies cost an avg of about $80m-$100m+ these days but many movies cost less than $5m-$10m to make and if the studio hits on even one or two of them it pays for the whole lot so I just don't see the point 2 years after they have been released in the theaters to keep them form being streamed on Netflix.TBS has newer movies than Netflix Mr A.D.

Yeah, a rate hike is just what Netflix needs right nowOr raise it from $9.95 to something like $20-$30 for those that want more movies.
That'll go over well.If only there was some way for people to somehow pay extra money to be able to watch the specific movies they want to watch. Maybe just pay a buck or two at a time to "rent" movies. Maybe some sort or store or machine. Just imagine.

How about this idea? What if they allowed patrons like myself to pay an extra $1-$3 we'll say to stream newer movies like anything from Oscar season last year? All these movies have already been released on Blu Ray/DVD...I actually think the studios are costing themselves money right now by not getting more on board with what people want.
Or raise it from $9.95 to something like $20-$30 for those that want more movies.
I think you stepped on the rake and got lost in traffic. Why would someone who is talking about streaming movies from their house want to go get in a car and use a red box machine? It's like you and Sarnoff have no clue how this business works. If only there was some way for people to somehow pay extra money to be able to watch the specific movies they want to watch. YOU want Netflix to raise it's prices because YOU don't like the new release selections. I made the point that if you are that hard up to see Planet of the Apes 2 months after it was in the theaters then you're probably going to be constantly disappointed by Netflix streaming. You're right...I'm not an expert in the movie business. To everyone else, I just think the new releases that they usually start loading in on the 1st of the month are pretty weak this go around. If you think you are getting your money's worth, great.
Look, I don't mind you continuing to post in this thread and looking like an idiot, but if you ever decide to stop being a joke, perhaps you should look into why the above is true, and then get back to us.TBS has newer movies than Netflix

Also, for what it's worth there are 214 shows and movies released in 2011 and 902 shows and movies released in 2010.
I think the content is worth $9.99 (actually I think it's worth far more than that because I love watching reruns of great TV shows I missed the first time around like Larry Sanders on demand instead of reruns of mediocre ones on TBS with commercials). You seem to think not. That's fair. What's weird, though, is expecting something for nothing.
Why would they allow you to stream all of them, or even one of them, for $1-$3 when people are currently paying $3.99 per movie to do the exact same thing? How is it costing the studios money to earn an extra $1-$3 per buy over your recommended price point? Most movies cost an avg of about $80m-$100m+ these days but many movies cost less than $5m-$10m to make and if the studio hits on even one or two of them it pays for the whole lot so I just don't see the point 2 years after they have been released in the theaters to keep them form being streamed on Netflix.TBS has newer movies than Netflix Mr A.D.

You'd like to instantly stream movies to your house for only $3 or so, to save you the trouble of having to get into your car?Are you aware of this newfangled thing that just got invented 30 years ago called "Pay Per View Movies from your Cable Provider"?I think you stepped on the rake and got lost in traffic. The studios make too much on DVDs, onDemand, and selling to HBO. They are trying to rape Netflix for streaming prices because the studios feel they didn't charge Netflix enough in the past. Netflix doesn't control the movie releases, they have to purchases licenses that have terms to them.If you'd said that, nobody would care.It was your inquiry as to why they're not yet streaming this year's Oscar winners for $9.99 a month that raised a few eyebrows. When did it become a crime to simply say you are not satisfied with a product currently?

It used to cost much less for Netflix to purchase the streaming rights before their userbase expanded and more and more people cut their cable to rely on Netflix. Where ever the consumers are, the price is going to buy highest.Like everyone else is telling you, in order for Netflix to give you want you want they would need to charge $35-$50 for what they are currently charging $10 for.I think I also highlighted this movie on the page before. One of the better Halloween flicks and if you didn't read about it inhere you would never know about it because Netflix doesn't even mention it on their "new movies" or horror section. A few folks I know thought it was a little slow but I thought it was a lot of fun. Have you seen Let the Right One In? I would suggest that next.Watched House of the Devil the other night. It was made in 2009 but is based in the late 70's/early 80's and it did a great job as a throwback to that period of time (even grainy cinematography). The first half is mostly just building suspense, and increased creepiness for Tom Noonan (Hannibal Lecter in 1986's Manhunter). I didnt feel like the movie dragged because of the atmosphere it created, but I could see some people feel that way and its worth sticking with for the last act. 1 of my favorite american horror films from the last few years probably, and totally different from most of the schlock. The lead actress was pretty groovy looking as well.

This show looked promisin but I never watched it..Did you finish the season? Do they tie it all together for the ending enough that its worth watching? The dude from Terra Nova looked familiar and now I just realized I think he was the lead in this show too.Life on Mars, a 17 episode series of a cop that goes back to 1973. The music from this era was great.
Seriously, how #### stupid are these guys? Best unintentional comedy I've seen in a long time.Been bouncing around TV shows for the most part.
Pawn Stars
Storage Wars
Treasure Quest
How the Earth was made
Gold Rush Alaska
How the Universe Works
Arrested Development
American Pickers (blah)
Other than American Pickers I've enjoyed the shows. I really hate looking through the netflix selection, never seems to change and a lot of suck, so it's been nice to just turn on the 360, pick a show, and watch a few episodes.

Looks like you are talking about the American version, which I have not seen but I enjoyed the British version. The first season (two, eight episode seasons) was brilliant, Philip Glenister was a constant scene stealer and it is worth watching just for him. The second kind of fell off for me, they failed to expand on the secondary characters in a meaningful way and it became a little convoluted (also Glenister's character seemed to become more adversarial and less entertaining in the process), but it was still worth watching.Spot on about the music.'Scrooloose said:I liked it. ETA: I think American Pickers is pretty cool. Storage wars as inspired me enough that I'm going to take the truck and trailer up to the cities next Wednesday and check on out up there. Can't wait to fill my garage up with someone else's crap!

I recently watched this again. I think a lot of you would enjoy it.The Man from Nowhere is another great foreign film. Superb action piece. The plot is straightforward but entertaining enough to keep you engaged for the full two hours.
