I had seen an episode or two of this show each season. Decided to dive in. Half way through season 4 now. I like it. Fun ride even though I kind of know the highlights of each season.

Just binged through 3 episodes of season 2 last night. Still can't understand a lot of the lines, but Sam Neill is having a big time playing his part.

Cillian Murphy is going to have grounds for a lawsuit when he develops lung cancer after filming this thing.

Side Effects

I hadn't heard anything about director Steven Soderbergh's thriller, but it's pretty good. Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum, and Catherine Zeta-Jones star in this movie. Good cast, nice photography, and a fun plot. Worth watching.

I guess I should banish myself from this thread. I buckled under and added the DVD option to my netflix account. The movie selection was too poor with the streaming. Looks like their devious plan to double their revenue from me worked.

I'm a secret DVD subscriber as well. Occasionally, there is a movie the kids want or I want to see that isn't on streaming. For me, it's still worth having that one disc option over trying to find it at Redbox.

the documentary "Los Angeles Plays Itself" probably isn't for everybody but I think people who do like it will really like it a lot.

It consists almost entirely of movie clips filmed in the Los Angeles area dating from the silent era to the current decade. The cited films ran the familiar (Chinatown, Blade Runner) to the totally obscure. The filmmakers use these clips to discuss film history, Southern California architecture and a social history of the city. Some of their arguments seemed like BS but they were always provocative. There's a commitment involved because the runtime is over 2:30. They probably could have trimmed a clip here or there but it generally managed to keep my interest for the duration. Definitely recommended, especially if you're an old movie fan or spend time in Los Angeles.

We have them too. Anything remotely recent takes forever. Just reserved "Chef" - 56 reservations for 8 copies. There will be a Jon Favreau memorial on the Biography channel before I'll see this.

I use both also. DVDs for new releases and streaming for older stuff that I missed, tv shows, and docs.

Just got done watching it. Not your movie if you are looking for "action" but I am loving this - lots of good, very dry humor. It also reminds me a lot of the small, midwestern hometown area and relationships. Spent several holidays watching my dad and his brothers interact (or barely) just like in the movie.

I watched this tonight. It's strange and creepy. Like Cronenberg meets the original "Wicker Man" maybe. It's one of those rare movies for me that I had no idea what was going to happen, where it was going. 4 out of 5 stars.

It's got some brutally bad Gossip girlish teenage nonsense at the center of the plot- but the rest is like they mashed up BSG (with some of the same actors- and likely same production designers- it looks great), The Postman and Mad Max (minus the cars). Part way into season 2 and I ####### love it. If you're into the whole post-apocalyptic thing, with a WTF is really going on subtext- you'll like this.

I liked it quite a bit. I'd also recommend Bletchley Circle to the mix. The first season was really very good and only a 6 episode run. Exile, another BBC show, was good and only 3-4 episodes maybe. I've just started Hinterland and liked the 1st episode quite a bit.

Girlfriend and I are hooked on this show. Thought after one episode it was going to be more of a guilty pleasure type show but it's actually awesome, if you can get past the CW romance angles that are forced in occasionally (though some do work).

I've been watching this since the beginning and while some seasons are definitely stronger than others, the shows chemistry between the main characters and the "we don't take ourselves too seriously" writing keeps me watching.

I don't know who was more cold blooded; the FBI, the prosecution, the defense team, or Whitey himself.

The interviews with victim family members were sometimes pretty intense.

I have read several books on Whitey and his crew and still learned several new things. Loved it.

love peaky blinders. took me some time to get through the first episode I think because of the heavy accents, but that goes away as you get used to it. maybe not your cup of tea but I think it's a great show. liked season two better than one

since breaking bad ended peaky blinders and true detective have been my two favorite shows

I concur. I was looking for something to casually pass the time before football on Sunday with the intent of turning it off if it didn't grab my attention. Ended up enjoying it quite a bit.
