I'm 4-5 episodes in. Big fan so far.
Only thing:
I like the look of the guy who's playing Kingpin but I'm not a fan of his emotional side being the highlight so far..guessing he gets more twisted as the season goes on, but right now I actually like his right hand man better as a villain. I'm not getting a menacing vibe from Kingpin, although I know he's more of an intellectual villain despite his size
It's pretty slim pickings for classic westerns on Netflix Instant. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Shane, High Noon, Lonesome Dove and Once Upon a Time in the West is a decent starting five but that's about it.Probably already listed in this thread somewhere but what is the best website that list the latest shows and movies that are coming out on demand?
Any classic movies from yesteryear that someone can recommend? I especially liked the old classic westerns and war movies.
How historically accurate is it? I'm sure it's not completely accurate, but do they simply make up characters very important to plot lines of the story that simply never existed?Anyone gotten into Turn...Washington's Spies? Season 1, two episodes in and it's pretty decent.
Really enjoyed Season 1.. and if the premiere for season 2 is any indication it is going to be an enjoyable show again this year..How historically accurate is it? Season 1, two episodes in and it's pretty decent.
Gave this a try....i'm conflicted.Dunno if its been mentioned but the wife and I have been watching a Spanish series called Gran Hotel. It's in spanish with english subtitles. The best way I can describe it is that it's like Downton Abbey, but imagine if interesting things and plotlines actually occured on Downton Abbey.
It takes place in a Spanish resort hotel in the early 1900s and like Downton Abbey, the plot primarily involves the upper class hotel owners and the lower class hotel maids and waiters. It has everything from serial killers to people with secret identities to family betrayals, and an Hercules Poirot inspired investigator trying to figure it all out.
Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix and season 3 is available "elsewhere" to be added to netflix later this year. We're nearing the end of season 3 and the story is pretty epic.
Pretty much spot on, if you can get past the fact that Patrick Henry's best friend is a talking dog from outer space. He was actually the one who gave him that snappy line. How historically accurate is it? Was a fun watch. Enjoyed it too.On The Rocks said:"SUPERMENSCH: The Legend of Shep Gordon"
Documentary on the career of entertainment agent Shep Gordon.
All I could think was that I was watching a real life version of Forrest Gump - in that every five minutes they introduced another star from the entertainment industry that he had either worked with or was close friends with.
I liked it. Worth the watch.
Yup. Just finished the season finale last night.Yes it is.Watched the entire Daredevil 1st season. it.is.awesome
I just finished last night as well. It does suck to have to wait for next season.Yup. Just finished the season finale last night.Yes it is.Watched the entire Daredevil 1st season. it.is.awesome
Do I really have to wait a year until more episodes? That sucks.
I don't think there will be á second season. There are 3 other origin story marvel shows coming, Then they all team together in The Defenders. No idea if they'll do individual shows again afterwards.I just finished last night as well. It does suck to have to wait for next season.Yup. Just finished the season finale last night. If you like soap opera type plotlines ...extreme violence and lots of gratuitous sex then Spartacus is for you...personally my GF and I loved itI just finished Orange is the New Black and I'm looking for a new series. Sounds like Darwdevil is good. I saw it on there, but thought it was the Ben Affleck movie. Boo
How is Spartacus? I started episode one last night.
watched it last night.Babadook is now available to watch instantly
The Babadook relies on real horror rather than cheap jump scares -- and boasts a heartfelt, genuinely moving story to boot.
I really liked the first season. I think it kinda fell off after that, as the 2nd season was a prelude to that.avoiding injuries said:How is Spartacus? I started episode one last night.
Thought he looked like the kid version of the dude from clockwork orangeI couldn't relate to the little boy in Babadook because he's a dead ringer for a kid who bit me so hard in first grade I had to go to the ER. Little ####head.
i know what you mean. i wasn't bowled over by it either but it earned at least a 2nd episode from me. it's a step above the Fox and CW-style superhero/special/meta but not by much.Ok- so Daredevil... does it somehow transcend into something more than the first episode? It's basically an R rated version... although I didn't see any boobs. Based on the love in here, I was thinking this was going to be something more than... Daredevil. (I understand- it's a comic book.. I used to even collect it- just trying to see if it's more since wife and I aren't all that into comic book shows/movies).
I thought the first episode was okay. It got better for me in episodes 2 and 3. So far I think this is a 7/10. But I'm only in the middle of the series.Ok- so Daredevil... does it somehow transcend into something more than the first episode? Season 2 is by no means off the table. In fact, most followers of this type of thing anticipate an announcement at any time. I know the showrunner has said he hopes there is a 2nd season and has already discussed some possible season 2 storylines/characters (Elektra, Bullseye).(HULK) said:I don't think there will be á second season. It's a show about a comic. Period. DareDevil comics are some of the best Marvel has put out, but it's still comics. I'm not sure how to answer your question about it transcending into something more. It did get better for me at least, but I don't know that it transcended anything.
In Floppo's defense, I've seen several comments elsewhere and maybe also here from people who say they don't usually go for the Avengers/X-Men type comic book stuff, but that they liked this series. It's nothing like Avengers or X-Men, nor is the comic though. DD is similar in feel to Batman, typically dark and gritty, IMO.In Floppo's defense, I've seen several comments elsewhere and maybe also here from people who say they don't usually go for the Avengers/X-Men type comic book stuff, but that they liked this series. I haven't encountered anything yet...there is a reference to what happened in the Avengers but that's it so far.Question on Daredevil - this is in the same "universe" as the Avengers and such, correct? The events taking place in the show are suppose to be after what happened in the Avengers movie? To fully get the plot, is there anything that should be known or understood from any other shows or movies beforehand?
thanks. exactly so- people were going nuts over this in here, which is why on earth I expected it to be more than Daredevil. I watched an ep, and asked if there was something more than just comic-book fare since wife and I aren't fans... doesn't sound like there is. seemed pretty straight forward from what I wrote originally. In Floppo's defense, I've seen several comments elsewhere and maybe also here from people who say they don't usually go for the Avengers/X-Men type comic book stuff, but that they liked this series. Ah, the Batman comp helps. I think those of us who know nothing about comics and generally dismiss movies/TV shows based on them are basically just asking if this just people with crazy superpowers chasing around some powerful force that threatens to destroy the universe, or is there more depth to it? Seems like Daredevil is the latter. I like the fact that it seems like his non-superhero persona seems like it will be a prominent part of the show. It's nothing like Avengers or X-Men, nor is the comic though. I buy the comparison to Batman in overall feel. IN!Netflix just announced a sequel show to Full House due next year... Fuller House.
They should bring in Alanis Morrisette as a special guest for an episode.- Fuller House is a really really bad title
- I'm out upon hearing the first "Cut, it, out" joke.

I wonder if this means that Netflix will also have the original series available on Netflix to build momentum for this sequel? I'm very "meh" on those old family shows, but I'd rather my kids watch Full House, Family Matters, etc than alot of the stuff out there nowadays.Netflix just announced a sequel show to Full House due next year...
