Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (16 Viewers)

Watched "War Machine", the new Netflix made movie with Brad Pitt and a bunch of other well known actors.  As with virtually every Netflix made movie or show, I thought it was mediocre at best.  3 stars.  The only movie or show made by Netflix that I would give more than 3 stars is "Spectral".  It's a shame IMO because in general I really like the premise of the Netflix shows and movies, especially the Marvel ones, but I don't think Netflix is good at this.
House of Cards? That's a solid 4.5 stars show for me, can not wait until the new season of that drops tomorrow.

I thought season 1 was very good, but by the end of season 2 I thought the show had jumped the shark.  The way he become President was too ridiculous IMO and I lost interest.  Haven't watched after season 2.

No, but I will check it out.  Thanks!
That and stranger things are the only Netflix original I really liked.
BloodLines, Stranger Things, Travelers, House of Cards, Jessica Jones are all top notch for me.. The OA was "strange" but enjoyable and I am looking forward to season 2...

I know it is a "Love it or Hate it" show with little in-between, but Santa Clarita Diet had me :lmao: many, many times and I am looking forward to season 2.

I thought House of Cards was amazing for about 8 episodes of Season 1.  Then it got bad, Season 2 was really, really bad, and Season 3 we were hate-watching.  Refuse to go back.

Travellers was a fun watch.

Santa Clarita... couldn't do it.

Yea.. Like i said.. You either Hate it or love it, there is no in-between. I will say the first episode had me questioning whether I would continue or not. But gave the 2nd episode a shot and I was hooked.

If you have HBO Go, Band of Brother is the best WW2 movie/show of all time IMO.  As far as Netflix, it's a limited selection.  IIRC Patton and Schindler's List are available.
BoB is also on Amazon Prime.

Dude what in the holy hell were they trying to do in the last couple of episodes.  Its almost like they tried to go the Leftovers route and failed miserably.  Horrible ending to a pretty decent series.  What were they thinking?
I'll respond once I watch the last five episodes.

Kevin Hart "What Now" made me long for the days of Dane Cook.  Actively unfunny.

side note: Sarah Silverman's Speck of Dust made me laugh hard several times

Yeah Kevin Hart is terrible.

I don't think I've seen that Sarah Silverman special, so that's something to look forward to.

Read somewhere that the Bloodline guys were told they just had Season 3 to finish things, instead of the planned 5-6 seasons.

Season 3 was pretty brutal for sure.

Sad.

What was the point of Ozzy, the priest, Sally talking to her mom, the boat accident etc?  Nothing made sense.

I also read cutting from 13 to 10 episodes caused some problems. I thought the first 8 episodes of the season were ok but the last two episodes were especially disappointing.

The last two episodes definitely felt like they were trying to cram things together. Pretty bad ending to an otherwise pretty good 2+ seasons.

I almost bailed on The OA during the first episode but glad I gave it a chance. Once Jason Issacs' character was introduced it got much better.

Peaky Blinders is another very good original Netflix show - but during the third season it kind of lost it's way.

Is anyone still watching House of Cards?  I just started the new season and it felt like returning to work after a nice vacation.
I'm going to finish The Keepers first then I'll start House of Cards. Not expecting much, but I'm going to keep with it.

Yeah the premise is ridiculous of course (and the puke scene in the first episode was tough to watch) but the humor is really quirky and the acting is real good, outside of Barrymore.

Here's the deal with Kevin Hart, Dane Cook, Martin Lawrence, Katt Williams, and countless other mediocre comedians:

Energy is not a substitute for talent.

One of the reasons that Stephen Wright is so amazing is he's not milking any jokes and his deadpan delivery forces you to judge him solely based on the writing. It's not that high energy is a sign of mediocrity. There are funny guys that are emphatic. But shouting and jumping up and down cannot conceal bad jokes.

just caught a kinda-funny apatow/aziz series of shorts about Raaaaaaandy the comic (aziz) who's basically in the first group). I found it funny- mostly after watching a bit of his sweeter side on Master of None (allora)

Watched a Pete Holmes standup while on a plane recently. Slow to start but got funnier as it went along. I guess the character in Crashing is pretty much him.

unicorn?

It's unihorn. Where does the C come from?

If I had a time machine, I'd have removed Martin Lawrence's vocal chords at birth.
