Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (17 Viewers)

This is why I gave up on it quickly. I've found I have little interest in spending my time on decent tv shows.
Big drop-off from the first episode to the second. I'll give it another one or two but have no problem cutting bait on shows that are just decent.

i have been watching some jim gaffigan with my lady and we have been laughing our faces off before we hit the sack it is pretty great so i recommend it take that to the bank bromigos

his standup or his tv show?

he lives in my hood- kids go to a school nearby and use the same playgrounds. saw him standup at a tiny little place 20 years ago where a friend was doing a set. he killed it- especially with the manatee. my friend went afterwards and sucked.

it is a standup show where he is in front of a lot of people i think it was called king baby or something but it was great one part was about futons and bean bag chairs and it really stuck it to me because i have those man it was great take that to the bank bromigos

I'm on to Sense 8 since they announced a movie to wrap up the story.  Pilot was pretty good  .
oh- didn't know about the movie. that's good.

the show is really up and down for me... but the scope and idea is a lot of fun and ultimately makes it worth the ride (even though we gave up on it midway through S2).

one thing I definitely learned from the show... people just don't understand the LGBT community. I know- tough to imagine, but it's true... and they'll make sure you know about it here.

...and there you have it. This is why I lasted about three episodes. Once I'm being preached at, the game's over.

Episode 2 definitely more gay than episode one. And much more difficult to watch on the subway 'cuz sex- heterosexual and other.  Still in because of Sayid and the DJ.

Wife and I are almost done with The Fall (just three seasons so far and a 4th on the way).

Very interesting series (a very slow burn) about a serial killer in Belfast, Ireland. The acting is fantastic. Gillian Anderson really knocks this role out of the park. True character study of both Anderson (Lead investigator) and Jamie Dornan (Plays the killer).

S1 was very good but left me with a bad taste in my mouth. S2 I think I got a few episodes in before quiiting it for good. I have no interest in picking it up again. Anderson is great but Dornan is suited for a CW show. I wanted this show to be something different - perhaps use the very rich history of Belfast as a springboard for plotting - rather than just another serial killer show.

the 3rd season is absolutely dreadful. I can't advise you any more strongly that that to avoid.

but yeah- the 1st season was very good, and the 2nd... I recall was decent.

who did I discuss this with in here? @James Daulton ?

My wife and I just finished binge watching seasons 1-4 of The Americans on Amazon Prime.  Season 5 (most recent) seems to only be available for purchase.  Then I figured it would show up in my DirecTV On Demand, but it's not there either.

Any idea as to when season 5 might show up on Prime without me having to buy it?

usually before the start of the next season. they do it like that with other network shows like "Mr Robot"

according to this, it is Feb 2018

I haven't seen S3, but the show was fantastic until the last two or three episodes of S2.  It's like they brought in the Sons of Anarchy writer's room to finish things up.  :barf:

Agreed on The Fall.  Season 1 I thought was one of the best TV series I'd seen in a while.  Season 2 was fine.  I didn't even finish episode 1 of Season 3.  Just dumb.

Wife and I have been trying to finish season 3 of The Fall for the past two nights. It is so incredibly bad compared to the first two seasons that we constantly fall asleep during it.

Season 3 of The Fall was so bad, I pee'd out a grape-sized kidney stone to distract me from how horrible episode 1 was.

... jk I've never seen season 3

So...yeah we are on episode 3 of season 3 tonight.

Clearly the weakest season. But we are going to see it through. But nothing like season 1 or even 2.

Season one was incredible and season 2 was good.

Agreed on all counts.

Keep us updated. I think you're at the point that those that watched still thought it was decent enough. Power through and verbalize your pain. :D

Since this is the Netflix thread I am going to mention something on Netflix - Rogue One is now available:  https://www.netflix.com/title/80108239
Just finished watching Rogue Oneonta Netflix.  Though some slower points (especially late at night), the last 3 minuets or so are just awesome!  Vader reeking havoc

Also the first time watching this since Carrier Fisher passed - the very last scene was slightly more nostalgic....

She had put on some weight towards the end there but I hardly think calling her that is appropriate.

Ozark is a must watch. Jason Bateman is superb. Graphic and fantastic. Not the direction you think it goes.

So you guys were right: Master of None season 2 gets better and better.

However, Glow has some serious problems. I'm a Marc Maron fan, and he's good in this series. But Glow looks like it was slapped together in a politically-correct think tank. I am all for diversity in film and TV. The coolest character in Star Wars: Rouge One was an blind Asian dude (Donnie Yen). That movie does diversity well and it's seamless. But in the new Guy Ritchie King Arthur disaster, we see a black guy and an Asian guy shoe-horned into the knights of the round table. Awful. In Glow, we have a show that could have been great. I am all for the "yay for women" vibe that the show was going for. However, this #### is ridiculous. One Asian lady? Check. One Black lady? Check. One gender-neutral lady? Check. One overweight lady? Check. Ridiculous.
I didn't really watch the real GLOW when it was on but since this series is based on that show perhaps the diversity was necessary since it's based on a wrestling show that exploited racial sterotypes.

Great show.

Ozark on Netflix into a few episodes.   What is the purpose of Linney's role just to be an irritating biyothc?
I've watched 5 episodes so far, and her character doesn't irritate me so far.

I especially liked when she threw that dead opossum at the hillbilly kid sitting on top of the trailer.

Since I posted my comments someone mentioned to me that the actual cast was very diverse. So that's something.

Really liked the first episode of GLOW, the second was just ok, and I was done with the series midway through episode 3.

I finished GLOW this weekend. Overall, it was amusing and fun. I can't be too critical of a show about wimmins wrastlin.

It actually wasn't diverse. Quite the opposite actually. One light skinned older black lady wearing black and white face paint, one Pacific islander, then 20 or so white chicks. Some of the white chicks pretended to be minorities.
