I just watched the first episode and thought it was incredibly boring. It gets better?I am surprised at how little known this is. I was in my early teens when that all went down and I remember being very intrigued by the whole thing. I remember the huge lines of people all dressed in orange or pink or whatever and the line of rolls royces driving down the road between them. At the time I thought this guy must be a huge charlatan and all those people must be brainwashed. After watching the documentary, I actually now have a different opinion about the whole thing.
Don't get me wrong, I still think they're nuts...but now I kind of look at them more like a bunch of hippies than a bunch of brainwashed prisoners.
How often do you have to call customer service?Does Amazon Video have any customer service at all? I am getting fed up with Netflix but when I look at Amazon Prime, it looks like a big mess and I can't find anywhere to contact customer service if there is a problem or questions. At least with Netflix you can call them and talk to someone.
"Yeah, hi, I'm wondering if we find out what happens to Lauren in Episode in 3. I'm not home to watch right now but just can't wait to find out"How often do you have to call customer service?![]()

Can you call to complain about the Lifetime shows on Netflix?Does Amazon Video have any customer service at all? After the Fawlty Towers talk just above this, I read this as Mr. Bean at first. That sounds like fun.We watched both seasons of The Frankenstein Chronicles w Sean Bean. Pretty good overall with some quality acting and period art direction plus interesting take on the subject. Kept getting it mixed up with The Alienist, which was also a decent watch (on TV now)
Peter Jackson produced the first. I thought it showed with the completely over-the-top crane fight.Kid movie review here after Saturday night family movie. "The Adventures of Tintin" is one of the more interesting animated kid movies I have seen. Spielberg directed it and it obviously is a labor of love for him. It's the kind of classic, globetrotting action adventure that he relished as a child. It's a bit of that for me, too, because I grew up reading the comics. Good cast - Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig - lending their voices to digital animation that captures the style of the comic books but is also very lifelike. Definite, discernible upgrade over Polar Express. Supposedly there is a sequel planned with Peter Jackson giving it a go.
true enough but i would expect something like that for a light, action romp for families.Peter Jackson produced the first. I thought it showed with the completely over-the-top crane fight.
Second episode was also pretty good. Again on BBC America, but if you get it and dig shows/movies like the Americans, Patriot, bourne, BBC cop shows, etc I recommend checking it out. Never heard of that actress before Fleabag and Killing Eve, but based on those two shows I think she's a talent.Very raunchy, but good. The main actress/creator of Fleabag has another brand new show on BBC America if you have access to it (I get it via sling). She's not in it but created and writes for it called "Killing Eve". First episode was very good imo... It's about a female cop and the female assassin she's after. It's on Sundays but I saw on demand thru sling.
Yes...it gets much better.I just watched the first episode and thought it was incredibly boring. It gets better?
The Tunnel is set against the backdrop of Europe in crisis. When a prominent French politician is found dead on the border between the U.K. and France, detectives Karl Roebuck (Stephen Dillane, "Game of Thrones") and Elise Wassermann (Clémence Poésy, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II") are sent to investigate on behalf of their respective countries. The case takes a surreal turn when a shocking discovery is made at the crime scene, forcing the French and British police into an uneasy partnership. As the serial killer uses ever more elaborate and ingenious methods to highlight the moral bankruptcy of modern society, Karl and Elise are drawn deeper into his increasingly personal agenda.
Is this just another country's take on The Bridge? The Tunnel (season 1 on Amazon Prime)
The first 15 minutes into this and I was hooked. The two main detective characters are really good and the dialogue between the two is great through out the entire season. If you can't do subtitles, don't hate it without giving it a chance. There are only a handful of scenes with a heavy dose of subtitles. Parts of this story line are a little hard to follow because sometimes they start talking about a character and you have no idea who they're talking about until an episode later. Well worth your time to watch. The best compliment I can give it, is that It's not predictable.
From IMDB:
Don't bother...The Alienist is coming to Netflix in April.Non-netflix post.
Anyone watch The Alienist on TNT or start The Terror on AMC?
We watched that one live... like it ok, but hated asberger character. Tried the Tunnel afterwards, but too much the same.Started an episode of the Fx version of "The Bridge". An episode in, I'm not blown away by Diane Kruger but the other cop is pretty interesting.
i'm torn about it. i think it has potential but the border town dynamic is kind of played out for me. "Sicario" most recently and with mixed success. I may give "Legion" another go because I like the pedigree. First episode reminded me a little of the old Prisoner show. I might have spoiled it by watching a lesser show that is too much like it in "Dirk Gently's Holisitic Detective Agency".We watched that one live... like it ok, but hated asberger character. Fleabag was fantastic.Fleabag on Amazon is hilarious. If you like Louie or Girls check it out.
Drew Barrymore is not as hot as she used to be. Still, holding out for only 3 minutes is still pretty quick, don't you think?Someone recommended The Santa Clarita Diet last week.
I lasted three minutes.
so I finished the first season over the weekend, and yep...I'm hooked. when I was finally able to devote some time to it, I loved it, and ready to move on to season 2. probably couldn't have done it without closed captions, some of those accents are pretty thick.Peaky Blinders - I've tried this a couple times, but just can't seem to get into it, which is weird because I like organized crime stuff. maybe I need to devote a few hours and get through a few episodes at once. but I really don't like Cillian Murphy, so maybe he's bringing it down for me.
Bridge was decent. Wish we had watched it's progenitor, Tunnel, first- seemed a bit better...if only for lack of or better handling of asberger detective.i'm torn about it. i think it has potential but the border town dynamic is kind of played out for me. Apparently yes. But I hadn't seen The Bridge. Is this just another country's take on The Bridge?
this is my concern with the series. it's not built as a narrative but rather a gimmick?Bridge was decent. Wish we had watched it's progenitor, Tunnel, first- seemed a bit better...if only for lack of or better handling of asberger detective.
I really liked S1 of Legion. First episode of S2 was so head trippy, I had to stop watching (tired, late at night). need to power through.

There's a dedicated thread....iirc, I wrote my thoughts about that there in better way. But didn't feel gimmicky- everything felt integral and appropriate.saintfool said:this is my concern with the series. it's not built as a narrative but rather a gimmick?
I haven't seen the show, but I'm guessing this is the same cult that the podcast The Dollop did an episode on... weird stuff.I am surprised at how little known this is. About to start it with my boys (10&14). Thanks for the recommendation.Lost in Space hits the same demo as Ready Player One for me - It doesn't hold up as adult-level entertainment on its own, and I'd not recommend it to anyone for that purpose, but if you've got a 13 year old boy like I do, its wonderful. I always love finding shows we can enjoy together, even if he'd probably rather be bingeing Fortnite on his xBox if given the choice ...
Gimmicky might be too pejorative but it’s definitely style over substance.saintfool said:this is my concern with the series. it's not built as a narrative but rather a gimmick?
was this on your "Word of the Day" desk calendar?Gimmicky might be too perjorative but it’s definitely style over substance.
