Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (38 Viewers)

Started Yellowstone and Snowfall, going to toggle between them. First few episodes of both are pretty good. So much freaking good tv out there.

I know who the main characters in Wandavision are, but have no clue what that show is supposed to be. I don’t know how much info has been released on it, but the commercials I’ve seen have left me thoroughly confused about what the heck the show is.

Guess I’ll find out this weekend.

Watched season 1 of Shooter. I was enjoying it until the last few episodes when it turned stupid. Don’t think I can commit to season 2.

Its probably been posted already but the new Netflix docuseries on the Night Stalker serial killer Richard Ramirez, who terrorized San Francisco and Los Angeles in the mid 80s, premiers today.

I rarely watch any TV and didn't know of this, but saw your post and decided to check it out.  Incredibly fascinating.  I vaguely recall the Night Stalker but knew pretty much none of this, and the two lead detectives are so interesting, too.  Thanks for posting this!

Started a show called something like Limetown. Kind of an existential bigger picture mystery about the disappearance of hundreds of scientists at a research facility, w Jessica Biel ("oh...she's so mousey and plain with unflattering clothes and a bad hair style") as the reporter investigating the whole thing. Not great. But will keep going because I'm a glutton for dumb.

Speaking of this, I tried to watch The Colony. I made it about 15 minutes in until I started doing something else. I dumped it. Hard pass.

I've said it before, but Future Man on Hulu is pretty damned funny. Just finished S2.
It was a funny show. I watched the whole thing on vacation at the end of the year. The only part that got a little long was something you’ll see at the end. Still funny but it dragged a little where the goat is. Liked the goat, just seemed like for a shortened last season that they spent too much time there. Still really enjoyed it all.

The alien invasion one that I liked and recommended? Too bad...it's not perfect, but it's fun.
I never got all the way through it. May have to try and finish it one day. I think if you watched TWD, Laurie seemed like the same whiny person. She was the worst character in TWD and I think my dislike for her carried over.

I started the latest, S3 with Seth Rogan (he's a creator, producer and writer for the show iirc). Feels like a step down from the first two seasons so far, but still funny. No goat yet :oldunsure: . Just met Osama.

She's a little distracting from TWD, but my wife didn't mind her at all (also hasn't seen twd). Somebody mowed a lawn iirc, which gave me the giggles.

It’s still funny but definitely not the best season.

Watched  Shot Caller the other day.. Kind of a punch in the gut  "one mistake can change your life forever" movie.. Not usually a fan of multiple flashbacks, but in this case it worked, and it stuck with me for a bit.

WandaVision on Disney+.  WTF???  I couldn't make it through the 1st episode.  Terrible.

Trying Discovery+ out, Impossible Engineering is great. That along with Bourdain’s No Reservations and we might have a keeper.

Seems like it’s maybe a pretty different/unique show that may take a few episodes to get. The rotten tomatoes scores are really high for both the experts and regular folks. Sounds like maybe they should have done a better job getting out the word a little bit about what they are going for rather than just inviting people into a sorta bizarre setup.

I mentioned it in the Movie thread, but I'll highly recommend A Night in Miami on Amazon. Fantastic ensemble acting and very well done writing and direction.

Kind of in the same boat. Read a little bit of background and I hope to convince my spouse to finish the rest of the episode and give it another shot.  I understand there’s a lot of artistic choices being made here and some mystery being established, but they definitely didn’t put much effort in making it very accessible early on.

Finished Queen's Gambit.  Great show.

Flew through Alice in Borderland.  I really liked it.  If you don't like gore you should skip.

Just watched it. Truly excellent. While watching it I remarked it felt like a play and turns out it was.

Watched a few movies recently. Kinda leaning into human connection stories to fight off the post-holiday quarantine blues.

The Fundamentals of Caring - Paul Rudd as a caregiver/coming of age story. Some gentle tugs at the heart strings without bludgeoning the viewer with sap. I really liked this one.

Safety Not Guaranteed - Aubrey Plaza captivates in a unique romantic comedy. The B plot kind of wanders, but the movie shines whenever Plaza is on screen.

I remembered his name from that time, due to all of the satanism stuff.  Did not know all of the back story or how extremely evil and violent he was.  Excellent doc.
It was an excellent doc. He had a whole state terrified. I was very young at the time, but I remember his court proceedings as a kid. My first thought was this guy is messed up. Didn't know he died of cancer. He was supposed to get the gas chamber.

My first exposure to the story was the scene of him holding up the pentagram in court and saying "Hail Satan" shown in a "Rock and Roll is devil music" video at a church youth group.  They pointed out how he wore an AC/DC hat.  I still attend church faithfully but my son and I love AC/DC.  :lmao:

Nature vs nurture with these types as always interesting to ponder. Finding who made who could give us a lot of clues for some of these folks.

The AC/DC hat got him caught. And his Avia shoe prints. Everywhere. I remember that as well. A pentagram on his hand. He was proud. Sick individual.
