The show has such a weird vibe. I don't know how else to say it.Severance hooked me like few shows have in the past couple years. I binged it over 3 nights. Fantastic acting, writing, music, directing - the whole package.
Maybe the best show we’ll see this year imo. I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s between this and My Brilliant Friend, two shows I binged back to back. That was one good month of TV.The show has such a weird vibe. I don't know how else to say it.
The office administrator dude that does the parties and the enforcing, etc., is just mesmerizing every moment he's on the screen. You can't look away. But it's uncomfortable and hypnotic all at once. When he was dancing in that one episode, I thought I was going to pee my pants. And not because I thought it was funny.
The fat office worker is sort of like that too, where I don't necessarily like or enjoy him, but I'm hypnotized by him.
Add in Turturro and Walken holding hands and it's gone to another level.
And don't even get me started on the brother in law.
Or Patricia Arquette and her random screams.
I liked the show as I watched it, but the more time that passes, the more I think it's one of the best things I've ever seen. Certainly the most unique characters.

Watched the first three episodes of The Staircase. I suppose I’m the target audience in that I watched the entire documentary series.
I think the jury is still out on this one (please forgive the obvious metaphor). Colin Firth does a very good impression of the actual Michael Peterson (a character I managed to dislike in the docuseries despite never being close to being convinced he killed his wife) and the dramatization does a decent job of juggling the many kids and step-kids and their own unique issues and attitudes.
The show appears to be all-in on a theory that never really made it in the documentaries.
I’m a bit surprised, however, by how quickly the show kind of moved past a pretty major plot twist to get to the trial.
Severance and Station 11 my faves of 2022 so far. I think Station 11 was 2022....?Maybe the best show we’ll see this year imo. I can’t stop thinking about it. They are foreshadowing it pretty heavily. How are they going to treat the owl?
Oh it doesn’t get faster lol but I love it.I just finished season 1 of My Brilliant Friend. It's definitely a slow grind at times, but I enjoy it.
I haven’t started station 11 yet because it seems a little too on the nose. Heard it’s great.Severance and Station 11 my faves of 2022 so far. I think Station 11 was 2022....?
We watched this several months ago and still talk about it. It's that good. Thanks to this thread for turning me onto it.I’m late to the party, but I’m about 3 episodes into White Lotus and I dig it. It’s quirky and off-center.
was on the fence here...will definitely give it a go. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to stand up comedy. The David Spade Netflix special was pretty damn good. Had lots of laughs. 8/10.
The pandemic is obviously a key part but really isn’t the focus of the show. It was a great show and I loved the ending.I haven’t started station 11 yet because it seems a little too on the nose. Heard it’s great.

I know I commented on it....iirc, liked a lot of it a lot, and some of it less. Didn't full out love as I recall. Wish I could find my comments to remember specifics...loved the manager, the jerk, and Jennifer Coolidge. We watched this several months ago and still talk about it. It's that good. Negative. The one thing that Apple TV + sucks at is the appSo, be honest. You guys all work for Apple and are ganging up on me so that I purchase yet another subscription service. Sure seems that way.
Dammit.
I pause and resume shows all the time, no idea what you’re doing wrong.Negative. The one thing that Apple TV + sucks at is the app
Two years and they still haven't figured out a way to allow you to pause a show, quit the app and resume watching
VHS had that #### ffs
you pause a show for the night, shut the app off, restart the app the next night... and are able to restart where you stopped?I pause and resume shows all the time, no idea what you’re doing wrong.
I usually exit out of the show. Then log out but yeah I resume shows all the time on appletvyou pause a show for the night, shut the app off, restart the app the next night... and are able to restart where you stopped?
Doesn’t work for me either. Even if I pause it and come back 30 minutes later it’s gone. Insane app.you pause a show for the night, shut the app off, restart the app the next night... and are able to restart where you stopped?
i did and i liked it.Has anyone watched Tokyo Vice?

I guess I just don't get the hype. It was fine but really slow at times. Seemed like it should be better than it actually was. It wasn't that funny. The characters were ok but the entirety of the show just didn't click.Big fan of White Lotus as well.
I'm with you. I think I made it about 2 or 3 episodes before giving up.I guess I just don't get the hype. It was fine but really slow at times. Seemed like it should be better than it actually was. It wasn't that funny. The characters were ok but the entirety of the show just didn't click.
First episode alluded to a murder and that the show would kind of take you down that path but it really wasn't the point. Just kind of a let down.

while there's a murder central to the overall plot, it's not really about that.I'm with you. I think I made it about 2 or 3 episodes before giving up.I guess I just don't get the hype. I'll give it a shot, but the trailer reminds me of 9 Perfect Strangers, and I lost interest in that one despite liking the actors/characters.I guess I just don't get the hype. The characters had a lot of potential but the show just never did anything. It was really slow and I kept expecting something to happen and nothing really did. I am still not sure if watching the entire thing was worthwhile. I am leaning to it not being worth it.while there's a murder central to the overall plot, it's not really about that.
it's a character study and an upstairs/downstairs class study. and there are some great characters that make the whole thing worthwhile.
all true. The characters had a lot of potential but the show just never did anything. It was really slow and I kept expecting something to happen and nothing really did. I am still not sure if watching the entire thing was worthwhile. I am leaning to it not being worth it.
Our Father.
What an incredible gut wrenching true story that is still uncovering victims. Unreal that there is no law that was broken other than the two lane charges already brought forward.
Oh yea, are you referring to the "Quiverfull" group connection? Yea that is wild.Agreed! The way the show was framed, made it seem to me as if the creators suggest some government cover-up or people up the political chain were hiding this story OR at the very least, claiming ignorance. Even though I am uphauled and sickened by what had taken place many decades ago, I wonder IF there is another side to this story - THAT no political or governmental figure wants to let out. (i.e. some strong religious organizational ties to people within that particular gov't for example.)
So the first season of The Flight Attendant last year was pretty good. Just fun and entertaining.
This season is one of the worst things I've ever seen, and we've given up for good two and a half episodes in. It makes Reacher look like high art.
I don't understand how things like this happen.
I'm afraid to say it doesn't get better. not that it's bad... I like the show ok... just get's worse from where it starts in S1. so if you're already debating- I'd recommend pulling the plug.jamny said:We have like 3 episodes of the first season of Gomorrah left. It's been tough to get through but will try to finish out the first season before deciding to continue or not. It's not horrible but I had hoped for something different. I might not have even made it this far but Ciro is a compelling character and actor.
Seems a little extreme. We just finished Inventing Anna (Netflix) - would recommend.

We had to stop watching the other night because I started hyperventilating / having a panic attack. Because at the end of E7, “Todd” - her criminal defense lawyer - pops up on her cell phone as Todd Spodek.
