Severance is intentionally methodical and mundane but intriguing, best for those who like to watch and absorb as opposed to those who get antsy or like to talk during a show.

Severance hooked me like few shows have in the past couple years.  I binged it over 3 nights. Fantastic acting, writing, music, directing - the whole package.

The show has such a weird vibe. I don't know how else to say it.

The office administrator dude that does the parties and the enforcing, etc., is just mesmerizing every moment he's on the screen. You can't look away. But it's uncomfortable and hypnotic all at once. When he was dancing in that one episode, I thought I was going to pee my pants. And not because I thought it was funny. 

The fat office worker is sort of like that too, where I don't necessarily like or enjoy him, but I'm hypnotized by him.

Add in Turturro and Walken holding hands and it's gone to another level.

And don't even get me started on the brother in law.

Or Patricia Arquette and her random screams.

I liked the show as I watched it, but the more time that passes, the more I think it's one of the best things I've ever seen. Certainly the most unique characters.

I just finished season 1 of My Brilliant Friend. It's definitely a slow grind at times, but I enjoy it.

Watched the first three episodes of The Staircase. I suppose I’m the target audience in that I watched the entire documentary series. 
 

I think the jury is still out on this one (please forgive the obvious metaphor).  Colin Firth does a very good impression of the actual Michael Peterson (a character I managed to dislike in the docuseries despite never being close to being convinced he killed his wife) and the dramatization does a decent job of juggling the many kids and step-kids and their own unique issues and attitudes.   
 

The show appears to be all-in on a theory that never really made it in the documentaries.

I’m a bit surprised, however, by how quickly the show kind of moved past a pretty major plot twist to get to the trial.

Same for me.  Its been these two shows way above and beyond, then some decent, good-but-not-great other stuff. Several shows I've started and abandoned a few episodes in.

I think Station 11 started in December and ran through January.

I know I commented on it....iirc, liked a lot of it a lot, and some of it less. Didn't full out love as I recall. Wish I could find my comments to remember specifics...loved the manager, the jerk, and Jennifer Coolidge.

a li'l wikkidpimpin™ - my cousin Kathleen is an award-winning choreographer/director of musicals, specializing in revivals. when London's West End was looking to reopen after the pandemic, they engaged her to restage her 2011 Broadway revival of Cole Porter's Anything Goes. its oldfashioned tapdanciness made it the feelgood hit of the season over there, so much so that they filmed it, a la Hamilton, to show in movie theaters. it was the 3rd highest UK grosser its opening wk and has spawned national & international touring companies of the ol' chestnut. the producers could not find a distributor on this side of the pond. so sold the film to PBS. it will be shown as part of their Great Performances series tonite (check local listings). wikkid say it might just put a smile on yo face and add some bounce to yo step.

A couple of movies popped up on free channels this month: Revenant on Roku and Logan on Prime/freevee.  I hadn't seen Revenant before and thought it was really well made, but dismal.  I've seen Logan before and liked it, but want to watch it again.

The Raid 2 is on Hulu.  I had seen it before, but was happy I rewatched it.  They did a better job of building their villains into competent scary enemies in one movie than Marvel did with Thanos's crew over 20 movies.  The hammer lady was just so brutal.  Fun ultraviolent movie.

watching Candy on Hulu, supposedly based on true events, i like it. jessica biel is great in it and i did not recognize Pablo schrieber, who plays another woman’s husband, guy looks 1000% different than he did in den of thieves.

Two awesome movies. 

Revenant made me feel like I was actually just there with the characters; like I wasn't watching a movie.  Hard to do that kind of thing IMO.  Seems like the kind of film that will hold up for decades.  Amazing.

Logan was awesome in that it was really unlike any other "superhero" movie.  It was dark and poignant and you could literally feel Logan's "health meter" dipping as the film went on.  Totally rewatchable.

I'll give it a shot, but the trailer reminds me of 9 Perfect Strangers, and I lost interest in that one despite liking the actors/characters.

like I said- it's a character and class study... if you don't enjoy the characters and getting to learn about them, there's no point to it. and tbh, the class part I found less interesting, but I really enjoyed a lot of the characters- so it was worthwhile for me.

Agreed! The way the show was framed, made it seem to me as if the creators suggest some government cover-up or people up the political chain were hiding this story OR at the very least, claiming ignorance. Even though I am uphauled and sickened by what had taken place many decades ago, I wonder IF there is another side to this story - THAT no political or governmental figure wants to let out.  (i.e. some strong religious organizational ties to people within that particular gov't for example.)

We have like 3 episodes of the first season of Gomorrah left. It's been tough to get through but will try to finish out the first season before deciding to continue or not. It's not horrible but I had hoped for something different. I might not have even made it this far but Ciro is a compelling character and actor.

I watched Firestarter on Peacock and it was awful. Watched it while eating lunch so as you can imagine I FF’d the crap out of it. The acting was awful and it looked like a film on a $2M budget. No wonder it bombed at the box office.

I'm afraid to say it doesn't get better. not that it's bad... I like the show ok... just get's worse from where it starts in S1. so if you're already debating- I'd recommend pulling the plug.

but yeah- I liked Ciro a lot.
