Two episodes in to Black Bird.

Good enough to keep my attention so far.

Finished it last night. Overall pretty good and what seems to be the theme with most of these sadistic serial killer shows, the actor playing the serial killer stole the show.

The ending seemed rushed and somewhat anti-climactic but I believe this is based on a true story so, frankly, the ending is quite possibly how it all went down and they didn't try to embellish anything.

7.2/10. Worth a watch when you got nothing else going.

Thought Wednesday was fantastic. Jenny Ortega knocks it out of the park. Thing is a great supporting character. Plot is thin at times but you don't care.

Wife and I a few episodes in. Fun show.

Obviously it's a totally different show in terms of themes, pacing, etc., but it is comparable to Ted Lasso where it has this ability to be cheesy without being annoying.

Same. Wife and I let a couple build up and watch in one sitting. We're enjoying it and it's as good as the first season.

Honestly, the only character I don't care about anymore is Stiffler's Mom and her carry over from the first season. Her plotline just seems like a red herring to me.

One thing I've come to realize reading this thread is some of you have a lot of time on your hands. Where do you squeeze all these shows in??

My wife and I generally watch an hour episode from like 8:30 - 9:30 together every night when the kids are in bed and I'm done working.

There are probably more beneficial things for us to be doing with that time for our mental, physical, and relationship health, but we're just so damn exhausted it's the best thing we've found to do together that takes little effort.

Then, if we got a weekend open we may binge a bit and I'll generally have my own series that I'll watch when I'm on the road for work that my wife doesn't care to watch because of the violence (e.g. Black Bird).

Agreed. First half of series was interesting but show goes off the rails and the ending is just dumb.

I was sick in bed this weekend so got to load up on the new action movies that dropped on Netflix this month

If you're up for a good old corny "man vs big monster" movie, you could do worse than "Troll" - dropped on Netflix 12/1. You can check off the plot points like a bingo card, but it's got heart.

"Warriors of Future" is decent action fare on Netflix as well. Story is a little nuts, but it's just there as the McGuffin to tie together the action.

"My Name is Vendetta" was ok, but I didn't dig it. For the most part they got everything right except the daughter, but she just grated on me as a plot device.

Even rewatched the Jennifer Garner revenge movie (!) "Peppermint" and man she gives it her all in a pretty poor revenge story. I wish they'd built a better movie around her.

Loved it!

I burned out on Beatles music while in college 35+ years ago. Over the years since I haven't listened to their music much, but I will periodically listen to their music and it's fun to discover a song you never paid attention to in the past suddenly has meaning.
If you're a fan of music, music history and music record production, this is a must watch. It has led me to go back and listen to their early music.
Rick Rubin is a great in his own right, he asks great questions and they both seem to have a lot of fun discussing all the topics covered.
It's fun to watch McCartney still gets excited about certain riffs and specific lyrics.

Really great programming! I will watch again!

Sorry, I was just looking for something else and came across this! Missed it earlier. I absolutely adored this program. I love anything that dives into how an artist creates their art, and of course if you add Sir Paul this is like catnip to me. Rubin is absolutely fantastic at eliciting stories from Paul, not that that's difficult, but the two of them evidence pure joy together. Couldn't recommend more highly.

There is something instantly gratifying about powering through shows but the cliffhangers mean that much more when you got to wait a week and think about what could occur.

Bill Burr had a funny bit about how we power watch through shows on his podcast the other day (actually was talking about White Lotus 2). His joke was people have these great shows, that they are like a bottle of excellent wine, and now we just shoot them like a dollar Jager shot

Like most shows of the type (Lost, Dark, & the like) you don't get everything you want from Season 1.

Without spoiling things - you get almost 100% of "Where" and "When", 33% of "Who and What" and about 0% of "Why".

The 0% of why was the death nail for me in this shiw.

Finished up the newest season of The Crown. Weakest season so far but still ok. Dominic West was a distraction for me as Charles since he's too familiar. The woman playing Diana was way too tall and her facial expressions seemed exaggerated. I feel like they portrayed her as more psychotic than I believe she was. The Queen and Philip were both good, imo. Just wasn't as interesting as previous seasons.

Loved this show but I think I have the same sentiments as what they are covering has gotten more closer to current times. We have watched a couple of this season and haven't rushed to watch the rest. The whole Diana / Charles storyline is also not overly interesting. Agree also that Dominic West doesn't look right in this part.

I think it has the same issues with Firefly where, unfortunately, due to all the actors' etc. contracts being terminated it faces the logistical nightmare of renegotiating everything and lining up schedules to shoot.

Gervais plays a widower that works at a free distribution local newspaper. I can point to a lot of great moments between him, and his co-workers and the subjects of his articles, but the serious scenes dealing with the loss of his wife are heavy.

You also have to be ok with crude humor and vulgar language throughout.

1899, while good, does not live up to the greatness that Dark was. Without getting into spoilers, to say they are twists in this show is an understatement. I think the biggest complaint I have is that I don't care about the characters as much as I did in Dark. That said, I still enjoyed it, and will be very angry if Netflix doesn't renew it.

My expectations for Willow were fairly low. It's a little better than I expected, but honestly, the less Willow in Willow, the better - Warwick Davis isn't a good actor.
