Wife mentioned Bumper in Berlin on Peacock, so we watched it over the weekend. Found it pretty funny, a lot of the same slapstick and silly humor from the first two Pitch Perfect movies. If you don’t find Adam DeVine or those movies funny stay away of course. Great move to put Sarah Hyland in the show too, she and DeVine had great chemistry together on Modern Family.

Also finally watched the Weird Al “biopic,” thought it toed the line between silly fun and avoided outright stupid most of the time throughout the film and I laughed quite a bit.

Wow Station Eleven was a masterpiece. First few episodes were slow but pretty perfect towards the conclusion. Highest recommendation if you haven’t seen it yet.

There was a scene in episode 9 that was maybe one of the most emotional tv moments I’ve ever seen.

I've said before in here that the show was way better than the book. You can probably skip it.

I was so-so on the book, but haven’t watched the TV show yet (maybe because I thought book was only so-so, so not too excited about the show). Good to know that show is better.

About halfway through For All Mankind season 3, I was a little confused why everyone said the season sucked. Then… I got it. This is a prime example of some shark jumping.

This may have been one of the most satisfying series I've ever watched. Give it six months or so and then do a re-watch and it gets even better. You described it as a masterpiece, I called it beautiful. I think it's both.

I've had this on my watchlist forever and never got around to it. I liked the book a lot. Sounds like this turned out to be a solid adaptation.

I had NO idea what I was in for.. And that was a good thing.. Completely caught me off guard..
One of the few movies where starting near the end, then using flashbacks fills in the story very well.

Don't read any reviews.. Just go watch and hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did.

My only issue with Last Kingdom was the main guy kind of had a Sons of Anarchy vibe where he just survived so many situations and was always outsmarting everyone.

I am loving the guy who plays King Alfred (he is outstanding), most of the surrounding characters and the infighting / politics.

Knowing that the newest Season 2 was coming, I re-watched Season 1 in binge fashion. I think I actually enjoyed it better the 2nd time through. Anyhow I am midway thru Season 2 and kinda have that same "okay" feeling. I enjoy watching, but I wouldn't call it a monumental must-see. Known caveat - I'm a sucker for Viking stories as well.

That again, except that the action/lie from Pratt was so evil that nobody ever should have been able to forgive him for it. I thought the movie was well made (great effects), well acted, looked good all around, and even the suspense part was done well. It's just the magnitude of his lie that overwhelms the movie... they did a good job of showing how furious she was, including an assault that seemed justified, but I just think it's irredeemable. I think that's all I'll be able to remember from the movie if I think about it in the future, so even though everything else was good, that might have ruined it for me.

One of the cringiest movies of all time. How the twist was handled remains one of the more controversial and tone-deaf movie decisions in the last few years. This film has a well-deserved bad reputation. Still can't believe no one involved, writer, director, studio, thought that it should have been done differently. What a messed up movie.

It’s almost a meme level of constant hate on that specific plot point whenever this movie gets brought up anywhere (even though they wrote in a cheap “out” at the end of the movie.) Tick basically brings up the one thing that everyone always mentions, it’s almost to “How can Monica and Rachel afford that apartment?” level of broken record by this point.

In this case, I’m completely unaware of anything about the movie’s reputation. This was just my reaction. If others had the same reaction, it doesn’t surprise me. I think I’m pretty forgiving when it comes to movies, but this was over a line for me to the point of ruining a well made movie.

Kaleidoscope (Netflix). Meh. I got interested in this because I'm a sucker for "career criminal puts together a crew for one last score" stories, and I figured it must be pretty good if it stars Giancarlo Esposito. Unfortunately the story is over-the-top ridiculous. They're going for "quirky" or something as opposed to gritty realism, but they push it way too hard and it becomes impossible to sustain any kind suspension of disbelief. The ending -- the story is told out of order but I'm talking here about a major plot reveal toward the end of the last episode -- is particularly ludicrous and doesn't stand up to three seconds of scrutiny.

This series also includes a little gimmick in which most of the episodes can be watched in any order. In theory this is interesting, but in practice it makes episodes 2-7 or so feel disconnected from one another.

I got about 4 episodes in before I decided that this isn't really worth watching, but I felt compelled to finish it anyway. I would have been better not to start in the first place. This show is a B-. In the olden days, when we had to watch whatever was on the networks and most of that was total dreck, Kaleidoscope would be well above-average just because it's stylish if nothing else. But in 2022 there's no reason to watch anything below a B+, so this is skippable.
