I hope I recommended Fauda here. Excellent Israeli action/political show about an elite anti-terrorism unit. One of the stars actually did this for a living, so it seems fairly realistic. And while the main characters are Israeli, the show is fairly evenhanded - and it makes a point of using Palestinian characters that aren't simply stereotypes.
yep, loved it. still not on the current season yet but i need to be.

I don't know how many have read the book "Wool" but Apples adaptation comes out next month. Renamed Silo for the show. I'm not sure how I feel about the direction it appears they are taking Tim Robbins character, but will watch.
changed my emoji from a "huh?" to a "thanks" because this looks like it could be fun. never heard of the book or the show. at first blush... it's coming across as a one-note mystery (what's out there?) so I'm hoping it's more layered to that instead of just waiting for that specific answer.

The books are awesome. I highly recommend reading before the series.

I'll check it out.
During the Series Finale of Better Call Saul, AMC had commercials with the names of new series with Bob Odenkirk and Giancarlo Esposito. I thought the Bob O one was going to be called Straight Man (ETA- further Googling shows Lucky Hank is based on the novel "Straight Man"). Haven't heard anything more about the one with Esposito.
I don't know what it's about but I will definitely give it a try. Toby from the office is the guy that developed it for TV
Just watched first 3 episodes of Lucky Hank and I love it.

Bob O nails the role and for a seemingly boring premise, it is cleverly written and well acted with lots of humor that sometimes mocks the education system (which I enjoy as a parent of 2 teens and husband to a principal).

His character seems on the verge of disaster or flipping out almost constantly but manages to just keep things barely on the rails.

Caught the Waco docuseries on NF. Thought it was very well done.
Caught this over the weekend. Thought it was excellent!! What a fascinating cluster f&#@!
I liked how they presented both sides and allowed the viewer to decide who was at fault. Left me feeling really bad for the negotiating teams. Seemed like they were left hanging out to dry multiple times. I'm sure there were weapon laws broken, but they never explained what specific law was broken that led to initial raid.
The only talking head that annoyed me was the woman from the Dallas Morning News. I yelled "STFU" at my screen a handful of times when she was on.

The one line in the program that struck me: "We're coming in and dropping tear gas, this is NOT an assault?"
Oh…..I don’t know….illegal automatic weapons, stockpiles of grenades….come on.

They had 10’s of thousands of rounds of ammunitions and hundreds of guns…basically stocking up for an assault on anyone who dares to see WTF was going on in there.

ATF came to serve a warrant and it was
Proven the first shots fired came from the Branch Davidians. Koresh spoke that one day they will come and it will be armageddon. Tons of illegal activity was taking place.

I felt sick for the children.

David Koresh was ****ing insane. And pretty much all those parents who followed him.

It was tragic. And listening to the ones whom got out…..my god they are still out of their minds.

We watched it inside 3 days......simply one of the best shows in recent memory. 45 minutes of pure intensity every episode.

Love it and we watched it too fast. Now we have wait a long time for hopefully season 5.

Joe Schmo Show was a classic.
loved it. "WHAT IS GOING ON?!!"

it worked because that guy was seemingly such a good dude and the cast was pretty great around him... by the end, IIRC, weren't they all feeling guilty about it?

the 2nd one- was a dating show? I kinda remember but not really. and there was a 3rd?

I don't know if he was clinically insane. He was a monster who preyed upon young girls his entire adult life but I don't think he was insane. He knew what he was doing.

Yes, 2nd season was a Bachelor style show, with two Schmos, one guy and one girl. The girl figured it out and was brought in on the gag halfway through. The guy... started really falling for one of the actresses thinking it was real dating and had to be eased out of the situation.

I think there was a third season, which was a "win a job" season, the Schmo thought he was in a competition to become a bounty hunter. Took tactical training and stuff like that. The highlight was one of the fake competitors was TV's Renegade star, Lorenzo Lamas, who played himself as an out-of-work actor looking for a new gig.

Yes, he seemed to be a legit good dude. He knocked over Kristen Wiig (!!) in the sumo contest and she got hurt, so when she came back the next day after a hospital visit he gave her the spa trip he had won in one of the contests. And after the reveal he took it all so well. Just funny and feel-good all around.

The second one was a Bachelor/Bachelorette type show but the Schmo bachelorette knew pretty quick it was a set up so it wasn't nearly as fun.

I didn't watch any of the third.

No matter how many people suggest Beef, I just can't push the button to play it.
I started it yesterday and am through 3 episodes. Not hooked at all. I find myself on my phone during each episode.
Me also....Waiting for it to get better....meh

I put it in the same category as White Lotus. A quirky and very dark comedy about mostly unlikeable characters. I enjoyed it and found the acting performances to be very good. Ali Wong was really impressive I thought.

Just finished it yesterday. The show gets better as it goes. It's decent, but it's not of the best shows I've seen. I can see why some don't like it and a little confused by the really high scores on it.

Also, it reminds me of the movie Crash.

Something about Ali Wong's appearance is just off to me. I can't put my finger on it other than she just looks weird.

The actor that played the "jackass" character who "won" the first season is the guy who plays Cricket on Always Sunny.

She's tiiiiiiiny. I notice it a lot in certain scenes.

Nice, didn’t know he was a writer too. Does he pull double duty on Mythic Quest too perhaps?

Last Kingdom gets better and better and better. We binged it and already miss it terribly.

We binged Mayor of Kingstown and loved it. Extremely gritty.
Just in case you thought The Last Kingdom was finished, I can’t wait for this to be available.

“With the end of The Last Kingdom on Netflix, the epic finale to the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg will be told through the movie, Seven Kings Must Die. With filming currently ongoing in Hungary, we expect to see Seven Kings Must Die on Netflix sometime in 2023.”
The movie is available on Netflix now, it’s called “Seven Kings Must Die”.

Beef on Netflix getting a lot of BUZZ

Wife and I are binging and through seven episodes. Very entertaining. And the acting of the two leads is pretty off the charts good, imo.

We liked it a lot through 7 or 8 episodes - Ali Wong was terrific. I think I’ve liked everything Steven Yeun has been in.

Kind of lost it’s way a bit over the last couple episodes but overall big thumbs up.

I'm in on this as well. It's very well-suited for Bob's brand of humor. My wife is also enjoying it because she was a creative writing major in college and thus has dealt with people like this in real life.

Boston Marathon Bombers doc on Netflix is pretty good.

How no one else was hurt or killed in those gun fights they had with the younger brother is unbelievable.
it's good- we're 2 in. amazing how much actual video footage they were able to compile for this. and talk to all of the major players.
Not sure this is a spolier, but, I'm somewhat surprised Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is still alive, although living life at ADX SuperMax waiting to die on death row can't be that super.

ETA: He was to be transferred to USP Terre Haute in Indiana when his execution date was set, but the death sentence was vacated in July 2020 due to inadequate screening for potential biases among jury pool. The death sentence was re-imposed by the Supreme Court of the United States on March 4, 2022.

Netflix dropped a Last Kingdom movie that is supposed to be the epilogue for the series. I'm about halfway through, and it seems like a continuation of the show if you liked that (I did).

Started The Night Agent. On episode 3 at the moment and not quite sure about this.
I pulled the plug after 2- thought it was really bad.

but if you're still in after 3 and still not sure... I can't imagine it gets any worse- may as well keep going.
We finished it. It was an ok ride. I've grown weary of the spy conspiracy with 78 moving pieces and 19 double crosses thing. The story would have been better as a detective story on a straight line.

Yea, took me by surprise as I really liked the series and had no idea they were making this movie.

Thought it was really well done and a good way to wrap up the storyline.

I’m watching it on the commute so I’m going to finish it but it’s garbage. It’s a direction nightmare, all over the place in terms of what kind of show it wants to be. Like the lead actress. She’s nice.

I hated the lead actress with the same stupid look on her face the whole series. My wife hated her too.
