Studs that underperformed week 1.. (1 Viewer)

Just had this thought run through my head and figured everyone post studs that are on their team that struggled, and are they worried, or not worried about that player.

Michael Turner, not too worried for him, Atlanta loves feeding him the ball and Pitt is a nasty tuff defense.

Desean Jackson- mixed feelings. kolb looked really bad for his stock, but I think Vick can help him, same goes for Celek

Steve Smith-NYG, not worried, he got the same amount of targets as Hakeem Nicks, and I think with Nicks having a big game that coverage will roll over towards him a little bit and leave more openings for not only Smith but Manningham as well.

Have at it guys..

CJ Spiller...you get the feeling he is going to be a late bloomer this season, much like JC was with the Chiefs last year..coincidentally, they share the same coach, C. Gailey..I'd be shocked if Spiller wasn't a stud come week 8 or so..I just think he's going to have a rough start and a terrific finish to the 2010 season..Bradshaw/Jacobs - underperformed .but, judging by lousy run defense the Colts showed on Sunday, these two guys are probably chomping at the bit for this weekend's game..Finley underperformed relative to ADP..next up , Buffalo, which looks like a bounce back game for Finley, especially without Grant AJ underperformed but he'll 'get his'Ray Rice, Greene

Randy Moss, it may be until week 3 that he scores a TD
I remember last year debating people about Moss when he had 0 TD after 3 games and only 1 TD after 5. I said he should be considered the guy most likely to lead the league in TD receptions and people thought I was nuts. He'll be fine.

Ray Rice-seeing McGahee in at the goal line told me all I need to know. Why did I pick him instead of Gore?
Yeah makes me thing Rice will only score from outside of the red zone...although that will happen often. But I also try not to panic after one week and it was a pretty stout run defense he was up against.

Gore - not worried in the slightest

R. Moss - see above

Jahvid Best - I know he had two touchdowns, but I doubt he gets two 1 yarders again all season. I'm highly concerned about him with Stafford out and what looks to be a terrible line.

Bowe - Immediately already wish I had drafted a different WR here. Just like I did last year. What's wrong with me?

Yep, broke my heart seeing them split goal line touches.
Not sure wha't so different from last year on that aspect.Rice played against (arguably) the best D in the league.I'm not worried. To me, Gore's lackluster performance against Seattle's D is more worrisome that Rice's.And yeah, I know SF went away from the run as they fell behind big. But that team's implosion against Seattle should be more of a cause for concern for Gore owners.Rice will be fine, beginning next week.

Not sure how I feel about this assessment, and I'm a Jackson owner. Roddy White never developed until he had Ryan throwing him the ball. Was it just his time or was Vick incapable of getting him the ball?

Bowe gets a lot of targets, he was decent last year and i expect him to be better this year - The weather was a huge factor in the passing game last night.....i hope :-)KC has a nice schedule too....not panicking on him yet either....

Adrian Peterson, MJD, Cedric Benson. I'm not that worried though. They'll have better days and its not like they had horrible days. Just average when you expect studly.

I hope you're right. Are you going to keep Bowe in your lineup? I drafted him as my WR2 and am already considering putting him on the bench for Santana Moss.

I was actually happy that Rice did get the first opportunity to score in the redzone. Hopefully they will give him that chance going forward.

McGahee had 14 TDs last year...
I'm not a Rice owner, but you'd think that sooner or later Balt would realize how bad McGahee is and give Rice/McClain the goalline duties.
He scored 14 TDs last year. He's not bad.I own Rice, so I'd like it to go as you described. But it's working pretty well for the Ravens.

Ryan Matthews? Chargers going to be ok? They looked pretty bad last night.
Mathews looked good until that fumble on that 20 yard run... I think he got tentative after that. The SD line looked, eh, below average, but they did feed Mathews the rock quite a bit. They used Sproles on 3rd and long, left Mathews in on most other downs and 3rd/medium/short, lot of looks. Hard to tell in the rain and trying to come from behind what to expect at this point.

Roddy arrived after Vick left, with the likes of Chris Redman and Joey Harrington at QB, and before Ryan came on board. Shows that a quality receiver can produce with almost anyone - that said, I'm not sure that Vick has the kind of accuracy that can will still allow Jackson to thrive.

Vick was Roddy's QB for 2005 and 2006 (White's first 2 years).

Correct - I actually meant by "arrived" that Roddy became a big-time player - not drafted - after Vick left. From what I recall, Roddy had some dropsies/immaturity issues in his first few years, and didn't get on the field all that much. Besides, Vick really only had eyes for Alge Crumpler back then.

Week1 do not panic
Too late..I'm in full panic mode with CJ Spiller as my #2 RB
He's my #2 in one league and #3 in another. In both situtations I sat there staring at him and Foster and picked him both times. Here are the real take-aways from that game: the entire offense was putrid and that is not too likely to change right away. However, they really can't get worse. The coach acknowledged bad game-planning on his part so we can expect major changes next game.Neither of the other backs on the team performed really well. While I am nervous I have a feeling that he will come around and get his. I was really hoping this would be an "erase all doubts" game for him but it proved to be the opposite. However I still think he gives his team the best chance to win and just needs more carries to see if he can find a rhythm. Watching game film for a few days should really help.I am a bit more cautious about my projections of him but not panicking. The only player I would be really worried about after this week is Green, and that's just based on an overinflated ADP driven up by drafters who refused to acknowledge that LT looks like he's still got it.

Vick will most likely play week 2 vs. Detroit. Not so sure how many games beyond that.

Michael Crabtree's disinterest and laziness last week has me terrified that he will be a major flop this year. I hope upon hope it's simply silly overreaction on my part.

I wouldnt get that crazy yet. As someone said earlier the game was a mess and it looked like Matt C locked onto Bowe almost every pass play. He didnt throw a bunch to him and when he did Bowe did drop some but it seemed like every pass play Cassell stared Bowe down first. I watched or tried to watch bowe on every play because i own him and think this is his year. I would give it a least 2 more weeks before I did anything drastic. This bears repeating, the weather was absolutely abysmal.

Count me in this one.
The only thing that makes me feel better about Crabtree's awful week is that the other guy that I was considering and passed on in late Round 5 was MSW. Both sh!* the bed and I still have slightly more confidence in Crabtree for some reason.

I am second guessing drafting Mike Divatree, he needs to come out and have a solid game against the Saints.

Greene killed me.

Moss semi hurt me.

Ryan killed me.

Stafford ( while not a stud ) threw a wrench into my backup spot.

Frank Gore-seeing Alex Smith not get in the red zone told me all I need to know. Why did I pick him instead of Rice?
I'm not too concerned. They are a young offense that played in a very difficult away game. Gore only had 62 yards and a fumble lost last year at Seattle (compared to 200+ yards at home). I think you will need to be patient with Gore for a few weeks so that their passing game and OL can mature.

To me, Gore's lackluster performance against Seattle's D is more worrisome that Rice's.And yeah, I know SF went away from the run as they fell behind big. But that team's implosion against Seattle should be more of a cause for concern for Gore owners.
On top of them going away from the run, Seattle is a severely under rated run D. Granted, Gore tore them up in SF last year, but that was with Seattle missing two of their best defensive players. They shut him down last year in Seattle. This year, Seattle has beefed up their D-line considerably (Mebane, Cole, and Bryant are almost 1000 lbs combined) and have Lofa Tatupu back. Couple that with the crowd noise, the defense was teeing off on SF for most of the game. I wouldn't be too worried about Gore.

And I have both of them in 1 league....

Ryan Matthews? Chargers going to be ok? They looked pretty bad last night.
+1
+2After the fumble & the play where he bumped into Rivers on a play-action fake, causing Rivers to drop the ball, Mathews saw little field time. I was extremely disappointed when Norv didn't bring him in when they got the ball down to the 3; very surprised that not a single rush attempt was made down there. FML; a Mathews TD there & I win this week

I am not worried about AJ. He will get his. Desean Jackson I don't know. Peterson had a ok game just didn't score not worried. I don't know the rest but stats show that last years top picks are not likely to finish at or better than their adp.
