Summerpalooza III: FFA Music/Fantasy Football Draft - Congrats League Champ Pip's Invitation (2 Viewers)

@rockaction it just occurred to me that you probably have the same sit/start dilemma as me in my other league with Kelley/Gibson.

I came to the same conclusion as you, presumably for the same reasons - getting more touches, going against the league's worst run defence. But I'm not super confident in my choice, how you feeling about it.

Funny that you also have Ingram as a wild card in the mix, where I have Dobbins as the possible fly in the ointment.

Yeah, I guess I do. I initially went with Kelley for your exact stated reasons: because of more touches and Carolina having one of the worst run defenses last year and this year in the NFL. Don't know any other way to put it. But I haven't checked on Justin Jackson's availability yet, which would change everything. I'm a little late on the uptake today.

I'm not starting Ingram because I can't afford his floor right now. I should (theoretically) really have cut my losses with him and released him for Claypool, but I won't because you never know with teams, decisions, and attrition. I'd be happier with Dobbins on my roster right now. I figured Ingram would get at least half the year and my quasi-zero RB strategy (I call it quasi because I almost never go in doing anything like that, it just happens) would allow me to have enough in the way of quality receivers that I could mitigate stuff like the loss of Mostert (or if Mostert wound up in a rotation-laden thing, which he still might with McKinnon) and the breaking in of Gibson and Kelley into cemented roles.

As Aesop Rock would say to a dilemma facing him that deserves undivided attention, "I dunno. Maybe get a kitten?"

I still may start Ingram because Baltimore is going to want to control the ball vs. Kansas City. I dunno. Kelley is too tempting. :)

Am I the only one that sees Baltimore giving KC and their questionable wideouts fits? We shall see.

Back to music, in a modified version. Anybody ever listen to NFL Films's The Power And The Glory? I think if you grew up as a youth in the seventies or sixties with NFL films, it's a total treat. Out on Tommy Boy records, it's a classic stoner album, actually. I used to get really baked and listen to it. Fun times when all that still worked.

It's not on Spotify, but you can get it here used, which really doesn't help any of us posting or that want that immediate streaming gratification we talked about upthread.

Actually, next time I add someone from NY, Sam Spence is getting added to the playlist.

Here's a primer: https://youtu.be/qmJhSF86H9U

Jordan Reed, it has been a lovely 24 hours but we will be going a different direction with the bonus roster spot.

Added JaMycal Hasty RB SF: White Punks on Dope by The Tubes
Had this guy in dynasty and had to pare down to fifty-one and I cut him when he didn't make the squad as a fifth RB. Now I have no FAAB bucks left because of offseason auctions and I can't really bid or transact for him.

Totally bummed.

I must be poison for WRs this year. I add Pittman and 2 days later he is out for 5 weeks.
Tough week for you. Oof. I'm about to join the club, only without an "O" designation going forward. Godwin and Johnson each have serious maladies that ruled them out of their games Sunday. Godwin has a hamstring and Johnson a concussion. I'm looking forward to the duct tape soup I can throw together for next week. I hear it makes a great broth!

And I guess that one cannot win, even when projected to break 160 sometimes. I happened to run into Week One's champ this week and will likely finish third or so myself. Not shabby, but an "L" nonetheless. I don't expect such kindly 27.9 point performances from James Robinson next week, so who knows where I'll be getting points from.

Music: I'm singing MC5's "Over and Over" in my head as I type this. Congratulations to Pip. He flat out beat me and is now taking out rent space for free in my head. Pip, your looks are becoming a problem for this message board...

Thanks!

I actually need KC to score a bunch because I need the BAL D to score -1 or worse to win in my other league*. Just not 54 for Mahomes in our format.

* - I could have avoided this fate by making better lineup decisions, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

I ran into a QB buzzsaw this week, though if KC scores right away here, it's within the realm of at least confidence intervals instead of miracles that I would come back.

I could have made other decisions, but they were somewhat minor. The injury to Diontae might turn out to be the real killer, as is handing the ball off to my least favorite, Edwards-Helaire.

That's too bad. D/ST combined did you in, huh? Boo Duvernay.
Yeah. If that hadn't happened, BAL D/ST would have gotten -2 for him and I would have won by less than 2 points. I trailed by less than 1 point before kickoff.

This is karmic retribution for winning by 1.22 last week, which would not have happened if not for A) Greg the Leg getting the last-second FG after that ridiculous onside kick and B) my opponent not noticing James White was scratched and getting 0 from him.

That's some bad luck for the opposing team. That onside kick reminded me of when Homer Simpson was trying to outrun the townsfolk mob in that car..."Hey, everybody! He's getting away...very...slowly"

Added Seattle defense.

Song: Love Battery -- Head of Ringo

My high school buddy and I went to see them twice. Both times to sparse crowds because they didn't have much traction in the Philly market. The second time, in 1994, the band was hanging out in the bar before they went on and we had an extended conversation with two members. After they finished, we went to say goodbye to them and told them it was too bad they didn't play this. They said -- why didn't you say anything? There's barely anyone here! 😆

They did play it when we saw them the prior year.

Added: Brandon Aiyuk, SF, WR

Song: Ohms

Artist: Deftones

(Aiyuk was born in Conklin, CA, near Sacramento. A new one from the Deftones! Don't worry...it sounds like them)

Added: LA Rams D/ST

Song: Is Survived By

Added: Touche Amore

(Touche Amore is from L.A.)

I'm guessing we're at Yahoo's mercy in terms of what we can do with Pittsburgh/Tennessee guys (meaning they likely won't go covid-IR eligible even though they maybe should).

If there's any commissionering to be done, shout it out.

They definitely should be ruled out imo. Can you temporarily add a couple roster spots for people to just use on Titans and Steelers?

Glad I carried that backup TE after all.

I'll be missing Jonnu (and Diontae Johnnson). We'll power through.

Has anyone mentioned how terrible COVID is? Consider it done.

Pip's Invitation said:
This transaction just occurred in my other league. ONLY in Week 4 of 2020 would this ever happen:

Added Jets D/ST

Dropped Jonnu Smith
And the guy who did this is my opponent. And the Jets got 10 points for him. However, he also started Gore, who only got 4.6.

Have to say I'll be fascinated to watch the discussion and moderation around here the next few days.

What level of decorum and respect is expected to be shown towards someone who has never shown an ounce toward others?

How do you properly pronounce schadenfreude?

How can something so serious still have that air of "is this for real" around it?

But enough about the Jets coaching staff.

It should be treated as those players bye week because that is what it will ultimately be.

I don't have anything nice to say regarding him, so I'm not going in there.
I posted this. I guess it was too real for the moderators. At least I wasn't banned 6 weeks again.

He shouldn't have gotten tested.

If he hadn't had the test, he wouldn't have have had the positive result. That was Trump's position, right?

Think about how callous that sounds now that he's sick.

Now think about how callous that was towards the 7.3 million other people infected in the USA, who were exposed or had symptoms.

And the 200 thousand and counting who have died.
