While we're in another holding pattern, could I share a rant? Actually it might not even be a rant, just a post of frustration and sorrow, and it is music-related.

Last week I tried to buy tickets for a show, but The Company That Is Worse Than Genocide (i.e., Ticketmaster) wasn't letting my log in to my account. More specifically, it said that there is no account in existence associated with my email address. Well, this is obviously not true, since I've bought hundreds of tix with that account over the years, including as recently as last month. I chalked it up initially as a momentary glitch, but as of today it still says the same thing. Something is wrong.

The big problem? I have tickets for a number of upcoming events in there that I now cannot access. I have the email confirmation for them, but since they are events with only mobile ticketing, and I can't sign in, I can't get to the tix. They include some smaller events, but the biggest/most expensive are four tix for Ringo Starr in October and four Seahawks tix in December.

Did you know that it is impossible to reach an actual human at Ticketmaster? I didn't know this until now. If you don't believe me, google the horror stories. So the only choice I've had is to submit a ticket with "fan support," which I did. Crickets.

I submitted a dispute to Amex for the Seahawks tix, hoping that would spark some resolution, and I'm awaiting word on that. Amex is usually good about stuff like this, but this is a weird situation. I can't submit the Ringo one, because the time period for dispute has passed.

Today I was so forlorn about missing the Ringo show that I figured, **** it, I'll just buy a new set of tickets. I paid ~$670 for the initial four. On the secondary market today, to get similar though not quite as good of a location, it would cost me more than $800 per ticket. :cry:

The next best option would be to drive down to Portland for his show the next night, which is what we'll do. Tickets there were an awfully reasonable $105ish each (though for the worst seats in the house, which is all that was available), and it doesn't involve buying through Ticketmaster. Even with hotel and gas costs, it's cheaper than new tix for the Seattle show. And if somehow my Ticketmaster account gets fixed, I'll just sell the Seattle ones for a nice profit. I don't expect that to happen, though. There's just nothing to do when Ticketmaster screws you over!
 
tl;dr If you ever buy tix through Ticketmaster, download them to your Apple Wallet or Android whatever immediately.

Yes, I have email confirmations. There are no tickets attached, though, and you have to get the tix on the mobile app. Which I can't log in to, since I don't exist.

I've had to submit a ticket to fan support before. They did get back to me, but you are at their mercy for them to get back to you in time for your problem to be resolved.

Sorry this is “advice” that comes too late but I like to move the tickets to my wallet so things like this won’t happen. Sorry I realize it’s not helpful and hope it works out.

Yeah, I did figure it out (see above), but too late! Good advice anyway.

Depending upon what the issue is, I'm not sure if that would have helped now. I could see getting to the venue and finding that the tickets were no longer recognized or something. My fear is that someone got into my account, changed the email address, and then sold the tickets. I don't entirely think so since (1) I didn't get any confirmation of a change in email, or anything noting activity in my account, and (2) that account shares a password with a bunch of other accounts*, and none of the others are showing any suspicious activity.

*Yes, I know this is also a bad idea, and I've changed all the other passwords and/or ensured they have two-step authentication, just in case.
 
This is my last post about Ticketmaster, because I'm getting so angry I can't take it anymore.

I submitted all the information requested, and they responded to say they were looking into my "request for a refund," and giving me a link to the purchase policy and what to do if events are canceled.

Mrs. Eephus handles ~80% of the concert ticketing in this household including tonight's Echo & The Bunnymen show in Oakland that I apparently agreed to attend back in (checks calendar) 2019. The tickets I buy for us are usually for some up and coming band in a small venue so I don't have to deal with Ticketmaster.

I still have fun once I'm there but I have to admit I'm more apprehensive in the run up to a show than I used to be. Maybe I'm transferring some of Lou's anxiety to myself. I swear he knows something's up because he's been more needy than usual today.

One of my favorite riffs in a song, ever. It features a '60s type harpsichord riff with an unusual time signature. The intro sounds like three bars of 3/4, then one of 4/4, with the rest just straight 3/4 like a waltz. Hypnotic. It peaked at #2, it couldn't pass A Town Called Malice by The Jam (another all-time favorite of mine).
Golden Brown was also heavily featured in the Australian movie "he died with a falafel in his hand" (2001) directed by Richard Lowenstein, based on the book by John Birmingham.
It features throughout the movie as the principal character plays it frequently on the guitar in the background of scenes.
 
Honestly just really finally at a desktop today. I am not reading the post about Ticketmaster and problems. Sorry, k4, but I don't think my blood pressure could begin to handle it. A lot of my adult life has been complicated because I won't deal with bureaucracy, government or corporate. (And you tell me which is worse, because I'm not sure either one is worse than the other.)

So I'm sorry for your story without even knowing it.

By the way, that post sounds aggressively bad mood-ish. I'm not. I genuinely feel sorry for the bureaucratic problems k4 finds herself in. Woof.
