Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (3 Viewers)

Does not compute.

Sir Purr was the Panthers mascot that Anderson starred in a commercial with. It made the Twitters the year before last. Thought you might have heard of it or remember it. In the commercial, Anderson can't believe the attention Sir Purr is getting from the crowd and asks his name. "Sir Purr?" he says, incredulously. "Sir Purr?!"

That's about it.

True story: We measure "hate" in our home based on my hatred of peaches. Like, if my wife exclaims, "Oh I HATE earwigs!!" my son will ask "Do you hate them more than Dad hates peaches?" Or if my son complains "I HATE ap Bio" I will ask if he hates it more than I hate peaches.

And it's not really that I hate peaches purr Say, it's more that I hate peach FLAVORING. Which stems from being offered/ordering iced tea in my youth and receiving peach iced tea which made me want to gag and scream at the same time. Just such treacle. Like Snapple Peach Iced Tea can take a long walk off of a short pier. So, yeah...tldr, I hate peaches. Vile, disgusting fruit.

Once again we are kindred spirits. My brother and mother love peach-flavored stuff. They even like gummi peach flavoring. Like Haribo Frogs™. I find it abhorrent. An insult to the senses. Peach? Yuck. Get it out of my gummies and tea, thank you.

:lmao:

I've known people who didn't like peaches (my brother doesn't), but never seen such hatred.

Unfortunately, you're wrong, though. Cantaloupe is by far the worst of all fruit. Cantaloupe uses the terms "hubby" and "wifey." Cantaloupe does Crossfit, and you know this because Cantaloupe tells you within minutes of meeting you. Cantaloupe will kill you and your family in your sleep.

Not the commercial, but I assume it stemmed from this. Thanks for the memory. Feeling much better about my RA pick now that I remember he thought Carolina's mascot was a bear.

I don't know what your team name is, but I'd like to nominate "Sir Purr" or, even better, "Wazzat bear doin'?"

Peaches do marathons AND are vegan AND keto. Cantaloupe sucks, but more like your neighbor that parks in front of your house from time to time.

That's the one, actually. I thought it was a commercial. He didn't really think it was a bear, did he? They couldn't have had him and Samuel that mic'ed up in real time.

I'm not a fan of peaches. It stems back to college when I got very sick on peach schnapps. I don't hate peaches, but I avoid them and anything peach flavored. I did eat some peach cobbler a couple years ago when it was at some birthday function and I was starving.

I'm so on top of it I was going to tell Truebluey he was up after I already complimented his song pick.

Ah, aging. Today I went upstairs in order to (1) put away a prescription bottle before some stupid cat started to play with it, and (2) fill a cat food bowl. Except I got upstairs and realized I had brought up neither the pill bottle nor any cat food. Back downstairs I went, but because I am clever, I brought the cat food bowl down with me to fill it up instead of taking the food up to the bowl. Got to the top of the stairs again before I realized that, while I did have the pill bottle (yay, me!), I still had an empty food bowl in my hand. On the third trip up I managed to get it right.

I personally love the move where I take my pills in the morning and forget that I've taken them in the afternoon, so I take them again. Messes up my pill dispenser S-M-T-W-T-F-S sequence.

14.12 - Green Bay Packers - DST

Modest Mouse -
Mice Eat Cheese

I haven't picked any Packers yet so I'll go with their DST. They have a week 14 bye so I don't need another until December.

We passed through Green Bay on our way to the North Woods and ate at Kroll's West across the street from Lambeau. It was close enough to feel the power emanating and convince me that this is their year.

I like Polar's orange-vanilla flavor. It has the added bonus that nobody else in the house likes it so I can drink them all myself.

I had some orange-grapefruit Aha water when I was in Wisconsin and would definitely buy some more if I find it on sale.

We mostly just go through the 24 packs of the unflavored store brand fizzy water.
We try all different brands and flavors. I guess I'm not picky because I find them all pretty decent. My favorite this summer has been Polar Tart Cherry Limeade.

Love the Cherry Limeade.

Sleeper pick: Aha's Peach Honey flavor.

ETA: Anything blend with lime or lemon is usually great. Gives them good zip.

Peach flavoring usually is gross - and I like real peaches.

I am also a bubble water fan. Got some Bubly at home as well. Pretty refreshing stuff imo.

Polar's cranberry lime is my favorite from that company.

Topo Chico's Twist of Grapefruit is my overall #1 fizzy water, though.
I didn't realize Topo Chico was anything more than a hard seltzer company. Looks like we get the alcoholic versions up here but not the core. I've never had either.

14.13 - Kyren Williams - RB - LAR - #23

Shuggie Otis - Strawberry Letter 23

I was so bummed to see his number, because I knew that rascal Doug had already taken Strawberry Letter 23. But he took the Brothers Johnson version (which I prefer, too), while the original Shuggie Otis version was available, and most importantly, the original version features George Duke and Aynsley Dunbar. Who cares, you say? Well, my favorite partner's favorite artist is Frank Zappa, with whom both Duke and Dunbar worked closely over the years. Yay, us!

And I drink way too much Coke Zero, I should probably switch to a water.

Diet Dr. Pepper for me. I know it's poison but still drink too much of it. Currently trying to move over to one DDP in the morning and then iced tea the rest of the day, before I switch to water in late afternoon.

One of the best hard seltzers out there. I don't often have them but when I do, that's my preferred.

I've never heard of Topo Chico. Will have to see if it's out here.

I love it too but I have a terrible habit of starting drinks and not finishing them, so I try to stick to the 710ml bottles to avoid waste, which Diet Dr. Pepper doesn't come in (here).

I got caught in the pouring rain tonight walking the older dog, Zeus (Mrs. NV takes the younger, Kes, they don't walk well together). It went from clear sky to scary sky really quickly and we started power walking back home but didn't make it. When the rain came we switched to a run but that was difficult too because I hurt myself last Sunday playing baseball (by which I mean slow pitch softball). It was the very first play of the game and my second game of the year on a new team I joined late. I was playing 2B and ranged to my left and immediately felt something pull in my quad and groin (made the play though).

Our team already had a guy who had to play 1B because he had hurt his shoulder and a guy who had to catch because one of his ankles was twice the size of his other one, so I played the whole game at 2B, played pretty passably given the circumstances (basically if it was hit towards me I made the play but I had a Cecil Fielder like range).. but continuing to play and try to somewhat run the bases, it just got worse and worse.

Anyway, there are about five different parts in there that make me feel old.

The non-alcoholic seltzer water was the first available here and it's quite good. I haven't tried their hard seltzer because I really detest hard seltzer.

What's that, about a half-gallon?

I feel poorly and need to sleep. Just skip me on these turn picks and I’ll catch up in the morning.

I don't want to speak for anyone else, including my own partner, but I don't mind if we just wait until Doug B is feeling better tomorrow. We only have a couple of rounds left.

ETA: Unless Doug B snipes our pick. Then I retract my statement.

My auction:
10 teams, $250 cap, PPR, pass TDs 6, Superflex. 20-man rosters. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 Superflex, 1 D/ST and 1 team K. Keep up to 4, but if you keep 4, at least one must have been a rookie the previous year. (For this year 2020 and 2021 rookies qualified as rookies because we didn't play in 2020.) This makes rookie prices rise sometimes.
QB: J. Herbert $42, Fields $8, Mills $3
RB: Barkley $45, Elliott $20, Henderson $5, Spiller $3, K. Herbert $2
WR: Kupp $29 (K), Higgins $29 (K), A. Robinson $21 (K), Toney $6, Doubs $4, Chark $2, Valdes-Scantling $2, Pierce $2
TE: Kittle $20 (K), Ertz $4
K: BAL $2
D: TB $1

I think that's what we will do then. Back at it tomorrow to possibly finish this up. I also briefly was lying down.

Nice. I hope Fields or Mills works out. Then your QB situation would be just grand. I think one of the dart throws will work out.

I'll refrain from further comment because I don't do auction/keeper leagues, and I don't know the dynamics at play.

Thanks to the house for being willing to wait. I didn't want to hold up the draft, especially being it was so close to the end.

I have a doctor's appointment at 8 a.m. Just an annual skin cancer check so should be very quick, and the office is about five minutes away. I'm in charge of posting my team's next pick, so just letting you know in case there's minor delay.
