Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (4 Viewers)

I'm never really serious when I complain about my record, BTW. It's all in fun. Woe is me! Woe is me and my fake Summerpalooza football team!
I know you're kidding about your record, but we still want to win, and we want to win now.

We want the works
We want the whole works
Presents and prizes and sweets and surprises
Of all shapes and sizes
And now
Don't care how
We want it now
Don't care how
We want it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The draft was more fun than churning through guys who have a chance of being a flex option if everything falls their way.

Are the Genrepalooza dice still free agents?
I thought about the dice this morning. No lie. They are indeed FA. Feel free to roll them bones.
I had an idea at one point for a "Music Festival Draft".

The idea was basically draft 3 headliners, 6 sub headliners and 12 small print bands. Once a band is gone it's gone and so are all its members (if The Beatles are at my festival, Wings can't play at yours) for a real deep-ish dive.

Then you would "build your lineup" essentially 3 days - each with a headliner, 2 subs and 4 small print bands.

It would be very theme heavy - you can have seperately themed days, or an overall theme or maybe none at all and it's multi genre, whatever you want but the idea was build the best you can as bands get picked away.

Then, because we need to be much more elaborate than all that, we have a bunch of non-music categories. Food providers, beverage companies, corporate sponsors. We all want our festival sponsored by McDonald's but only one can have them.

Also, you need to have some non musical acts - art, comedy, etc...

It could be a straight on draft or a small scale palooza. I think there are lots more category possibilities too, it could be expanded if people are into it. I don't know if this idea is too niche or just the right amount of niche. I think it could be really fun but also a bit more like a real draft - we all really want to get Budweiser as our beer provider and Nike as our corporate sponsor, right?
I did something like that on another board. Though it was just “draft enough bands for a 3-day festival.” No parameters other than that and you couldn’t take an act that someone else did.

If it’s for a festival shouldn’t the acts be living?
I can be convinced either way but I think since it's essentially a dream lineup they don't need to be alive and the idea above about being able to choose a particular era really allows for that dream lineup idea - just like if I pick Phil Collins for my festival, I probably don't want present day Phil, even though he is still alive.

I’m ok either way but I think it would be more fun to pick acts that can actually play at a Festival being held in the present.

In of course for the festival draft. Unless there are a lot of participants, I think lack of scarcity could be an issue especially in the latter phases of the draft as people fill out their undercard. I've given this some thought and came up with the following to increase the competitiveness and bring dice into play.

After the first round, roll the dice to make one of the artists picked a common headliner for all drafters. Everybody has to build one day of the festival around that headliner while leaving the other two days free for their own thing.

You were standing with your girlfriends in the street
Falling back on forever, I wonder what you came to be
I was new in town, the boy with the eager eyes
I never was a quitter, oblivious to schoolgirls' lies

When I look back on those neon lights
The leather seats, the passage rite
I feel the heat, I see the light

Miss Atomic Bomb

Slippin' in my faith until I fall
He never returned that call
Woman, open the door, don't let it sting
I wanna breathe that fire again
She said, "I don't mind, you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine"
Put your back on me, put your back on me
Put your back on me

The stars are blazing like rebel diamonds
Cut out of the sun
Can you read my mind?

Limiting it to artist’s still alive/touring would help create scarcity as well.

So glad I traded for Zach Ertz so I didn't have to start David Njoku 😵‍💫

I think that was a good trade. Can't base a trade based on a guy's career day. Stefanski himself said that Njoku was scheme-dependent after last night. You don't want blocking tight ends. You want Zach Ertz, who consistently lines up in the slot or out wide.

Not saying Ertz is a better player, but his situation right now is much better for fantasy football.

But you knew that. I'm just sorry I cut Njoku for Logan Thomas and I'm justifying it. Heh.

As for the festival thing, I don't particularly understand it, but will once I've really sat down and read it (I hope). I'm most likely in. I can't see why not.

But some just can't sing any more, alive or not. Julie Andrews just can't sing now, for example. And I don't want Axl Rose to not show up to my music fest.

It was a perfect trade really IMO. I needed a TE and like Ertz, he needed a QB (was starting Flacco) and I had Wentz/Rodgers with Wentz doing well. Also I'm an idiot and Wentz and Rodgers had the same bye week and I wanted to deal with that. Both better in the short term and pretty good situations in the long term.

Breakin' my back just to know your name
Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game
A breakin' my back just to know your name
But Heaven ain't close in a place like this
Anything goes but don't blink, you might miss

I'm going to a concert tonight, can anyone guess who it is.

Arkells have a new album out today so I'd guess there's probably a hometown record release show.

Mrs. Eephus is going to see Grace Jones in Oakland. I sold my ticket because Louis had some teeth extracted this morning and someone needs to dog sit.

Exactly. I rarely trade in my fantasy leagues because they usually aren’t active at trading and when I get an offer it’s often a clear attempt at hoodwinking. But when I saw that offer I was like “this is perfectly reasonable and it actually helps both of us.”

For me, the biggest benefit of having an every week TE is that it frees up an additional roster slot for RB/WR speculation.

Had the devious thought tonight that maybe this encourages taking your third headliner first if it's a bit from left field and throwing that into the everyone must draft list.

I'd be up for a sub headliner dice roll too that we all have to have and even one small print band but that might be the 🍒 gummy talking.

True but a lineup of geriatrics and old bands with one or two original members probably shouldn't be out in the sun all day.
It doesn’t have to be all geriatrics - but Stevie Nicks just headlined the Sea Hear Now Festival at the beach last weekend and I caught her set (from across the street) and she sounded very good.

What kind of locker-room speeches is @Eephus giving? After two weeks of goose eggs, we dropped DeVante Parker, and of course he's killing it now on Eephus's team. He's also getting production out of the Cincy D that we couldn't inspire from them.

I sing to them

:lmao: Could you go sing to our new D/ST we picked up in place of Cincy, which scored us negative-four points? I'm not kidding. Negative. Four.
