Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (1 Viewer)

So we still have to wait for results but they did have some information for us after Cassidy’s procedure. They found on ultrasound a mass in his intestines. There are 3 leading thoughts on what that could be two of which are types of cancer that are common in cats (lymphoma and mast cell) and one of which is an inflammatory tumor that could surgically be removed with a potentially positive prognosis thereafter, but it’s a rare condition in cats. They took three aspirations of it and the lymph nodes around it and skipped the liver and spleen aspiration because of finding the intestinal mass. They also took blood to be looked at by the pathologist.
The mass is lymphoma. If we decide to treat, it would have to be chemotherapy, and the stats on that for lymphoma in cats aren't great. We're going to have a consult with the oncologist next week, but I would guess we will decide not to treat.

Apologies in advance for the random drop in to a thread I didn't realize existed until today, having seen some familiar names I clicked on the thread title. I just wanted to send condolences and support to those dealing with illnesses or passing of family pets. Dealing with the loss of a pet is among the toughest things to go through. Some of the worst days of my life were those where we had to say goodbye to ones we loved. They really are family members. Much love to the pets that have brought happiness and joy to those humans lucky enough to have had them, past and present.

Enjoy the FF league and the trips, it seems like fun.

You should participate next year. Great group of people, one of the highlights of this board for me.

Hank Williams Jr. - Take Out Some Insurance

Fields is insurance in case Tua doesn't return before Hurts' week 7 bye. The song is an old Jimmy Reed Blues number off of Bocephus' album that came out earlier this year.

It sounds like fun. I'd like to go on a cruise some day, but I worry about getting seasick. I know the motion is not as intense as other boats, but it would suck if I got motion sickness, and be stuck on the boat for days. Have you felt any queasiness?

My parents used to travel a lot, and two of my mom's favorite trips were cruises, and she raved about the food on both ships.

I bet the guy appreciated the chat and recommendation.

I never thought I would go on a cruise, but we did one to Alaska (followed by a land vacation to Denali) several years ago because it was the best way to see stuff. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! We still do more land vacations than cruises, but I'll throw one in every now and then for relaxation. Since I'm 100% responsible for all vacation planning for my family, a cruise can be nice as I don't have to do quite as much planning. Plus the food is great, and it's nice to see a bunch of places without having to unpack and repack all the time.

I get motion sickness very badly in cars, but I've only felt queasy once on a ship. I was down for a day with it, but took some Bonine and wore the wristbands, and after 24 hours I was OK again. I bring Bonine and the wristbands with me now just in case. I did take Bonine one day on this trip just to try to head off anything, but I never got sick. As Pip said, the middle of the ship is best, and also being on a lower (Binky: higher) deck is better, though I usually go up high anyway because the views are better.

The two cruises my mom loved was an Alaskan cruise and a Baltic. I don't know if they have been on more than those two, but she loved them both.

I've never heard of using Bonine (until now) for motion sickness. I've used the wristbands before. I will have to remember it. I got car sick the last time I was in the mountains. All of the up and down hills and swerves started making me queasy in the passenger seat. It didn't help that I ate an apple fritter earlier that morning, cause I was starving, and the sugar or dough in it made my stomach feel a bit yucky. I don't eat sugary stuff often. I'm a saltaholic.

I just got a call from the vet that Cole's ashes are back. It's going to be tough going there today, but I have to do it. I saw earlier that Loretta Lynn died. I grew up listening to her. My parents and both sets of grandparents played her often. My grandmother, Maw Maw, had the VHS of Cole Miner's Daughter, and she watched it all the time. Loretta was super talented, and to say she was a trailblazer seems to understate her importance and influence in country music, because it was so huge. Much respect. RIP Loretta
Sorry to hear about Cole Simey :(

Justin Fields, "QB", Chicago

The quotation marks! :lmao:

I shouldn't have done that; I may need Fields to start at QB in week 7. That gives me two and a half weeks to coach him up by singing to him

LOL. How true.

Katmankoo is a distant second, and has pulled herself back into the race with her transactions. Would that only be the case for my team.

I haven't had a quarterback score over seven points in three weeks, and I was lucky to get double digits the first week. It's truly breathtaking.

Tra la. Off to Persian Palace for our nightly meal here in Katmankoo. It's a beautiful life. No wonder they started slow at home.

We're doing a Caribbean cruise in December. I prefer them to an all-inclusive resort type vacation if we're doing an easy, "let someone else worry about planning" type getaway (this will be our 4th).

Like you, I do all the vacation planning and I mostly prefer picking a spot and then sourcing out all the stops and stays but sometimes you just want to go somewhere and not worry about any of that and just enjoy being somewhere new, with nice food, good climate and something different to do. And in that case give me days at sea, unique ports and high quality food over 7 days on the same beach.

I always ordered Cole's prescription cat food from Chewy, and I had bought a new bag a week before he died. I had not opened it yet, and so I called Chewy a couple of days ago to see if I could return it to Petsmart (they own Chewy). Chewy told me they would give me a full refund, and to just donate the bag to a shelter, a rescue, etc. or to someone who needs it. Today when I got home, there was a vase of pretty flowers sitting on my front porch. There was condolence card attached, and it was from Chewy. That was so nice.

THAT is how you care for your customers. Wow.

@neal cassady and I were uncanny in our ability to sit Russell Wilson last week, the only week he did well, costing us the win. Any Broncos fans want to offer us $$ to sit him again from now on?

Good god. Is it just me, or is the NFL product this year kinda awful?

Back in the day, a 12-9 Ravens/Steelers games might have been the most intense, intriguing games of the week. This just sucks.

At least next Thursday we get treated to a Chicago/Washington gag-fest. (It will probably finish 31-30 and be super fun.)

My wonderful partner kept our hapless team going, such as it is, while I was on vacation. He's now taking a much-needed vacation after trying (unsuccessfully) to coach our guys up, so I'm not going to run these songs by him. He's always been amenable to my suggestions. ;(
