***Sunday Night Football - Philadelphia at Dallas*** (-3, 53) 8:20 (1 Viewer)

That Eagles vs Niners thread was the first thread I thought, "This is getting kinda ugly." Now we include Dallas fans? Oh my.

Crazy that showing a bunch of dudes Michael Jordan videos when they never even saw him play didnt inspire the troops!

Whats next? Eisenhower's Military industrial complex speech?

Looks like the game of the week to top of another Sunday Funday in The NFL.
Let's hope the refs stay out of the way and we get an old fashioned knock down drag out NFC East battle.
Boys win and race for the #1 seed in The NFC gets real interesting.
Eagles win and they get some separation.
Could be a fantasy gold mine game too.
Late touchdown wins it for...

Honest no smack talk take-

Should be a good game. I worry about Hurts running all over us. Can’t afford to spy him or those receivers will eat us alive. They’ll attack bland and have success. We’re undersized at LB and can be pushed around.

If the Eagles just stick to running the ball and can stop Dal from scoring TDs, something they struggle to do in the RZ, the Eagles will win.

30 rushing attempts they win. That’s the key to victory for the Eagles.

Dallas should start Dowdle and bring in Pollard in the second half.

It’s gonna be chippy out there and in here.

Gonna be a tough game. The Eagles should look at the tape of the Seahawks/Cowboys game. DK Metcalf was eating them alive. And AJ Brown is actually better. But whoever is getting covered by Bland, my take is to keep hammering him over the top and maybe a couple double moves. He is playing like Diggs did the 10 pick year he had. Very savvy intelligent player, but likes to play very aggressive and take risks. Gotta make him pay.

And I am wasting my breath hoping we run the ball. We won't so I am just hoping Dallas Goedert is back for a revenge game since the Cowboys broke him the last meeting.

Defensive wishful game plan: Cover CD and double him. No underneath stuff. If Ferguson gets his, so be it. Make Tolbert/Gallup/Turpin/Cooks beat you. Do not blitz. We can stop the run and lets be honest, Dallas hasn't been good at running at all this year. 4 man rushes, 7 man coverage. No Soft s*** I want to see some press. Whoever is getting blocked by Steele I want to see him beaten over and over. Just another guy in a long list of players the Cowboys extended that *immediately* regressed. Dak might scramble some, he probably will. Want to see him dumped again like he was last game, make him pay for trying to be a hero.

Offensive wishful game plan: Haha run the ball? Won't happen, but FFS Hurts better get rid of the ball instead of holding onto it for 30 seconds in the pocket. Devonta and AJ must each get double digit targets. We didn't go deep literally at all against SF, and like I said, Seattle showed you can do that. We need to do that. Would love to see RPO stuff reappear, but don't think that happens.

How we win: Ball control offense sustained drives, clean football, pressure on Dak all game long
How we lose: turnovers, letting Dak run all over us, allowing Eli Ricks to cover CD or just plainly letting CD run wild.

I obviously agree with a lot of the above. I've been posting about the absurdity of this team (that is built to run the ball) giving all their RBs 9 total carries last week. If they come out and literally run the ball on first and second every possession, they will win. If they continue with the slow developing routes where the WR's aren't even turning their heads for 5 seconds, we'll lose.

I think the jig is up w/r/t the bolded. Hurts, either by design, injury or front office mandate, is just not the runner he was last year. It takes a major feature of our offense (RPO) off the table and defenses have been aware of this for weeks. I think he is still playing hurt and is thinking that he will wait to run until he absolutely has to in the fourth quarter because they are down.

This game is a major measuring stick. SF kicked our asses. I'm willing to look at that as one game; they were rested-we were not; they played their best game-we played one of our worst, etc. If we can come out and handle Dallas, in Dallas, then my confidence in this team will be restored. If not, then I'll have to concede that something is rotten in Denmark.

I haven't thought enough about this game yet to really make a prediction. Just know that either way I'll probably lose my voice again for like the 5th week in a row.

I like a lot of points in this one with a defensive score or two, a few 4th down conversions, and Eagles having a chance late for a go-ahead drive...

Cowboys: 41
Eagles: 35

Should be a great game. I think it will actually go under the point total. Both teams have played uncharacteristically poor defense over the last few weeks.

funny you say this, I noticed this morning CBS is recommending I bench all my PHI and DAL players and your narrative is what I thought of immediately. Dallas D had a few more days off to rest and prepare, Eagles D gotta be hungry after last week performance, I hope, so could be a defensive brawl. Certainly will be chippy.

I see this game being played in the low 20s on both sides. The Dallas offense always eats against average and bottom feeder defenses, so the aggregate perception of elite as a unit is overstated. Philly will get their fair share of stops.

From a game management lens, McCarthy has underwhelmed, especially with clock management issues. The Cowboys also have a propensity for ill timed penalties, particularly mental mistakes. Be on the lookout for that to happen yet again.

Additionally, Dak is good for at least one bad turnover in a key situation. The Eagles have a very good front four, and if they can generate pressure without a high blitz rate, that’s a major cause for concern. I suspect CD will be doubled all game, forcing Cooks and Ferguson to win in one on one situations.

The final concern is level of attention to detail. There never seems to be a sense of calm and confidence with the Cowboys in crucial late-game situations, and they appear, from the outside, to be ill prepared for this. The Cowboys have won lots of blowouts, but, more often than not, have lost in recent years in tight games against good teams late in the year.

This is another measuring stick game for us. We have nearly universally failed in these spots over the past few years.

I’ll go 24-21 Eagles. At least one, and likely multiple, of the factors listed above will lead to our demise.

For some strange reason, this is always the week that the fans in here predict a loss for their team, and talk about how good the other team is.

I'll continue suit... Cowboys are rested and really really good at home.

Cowboys 31
Eagles 28

Eagles defensive #s

Points allowed: 24th
Points allowed per drive: 29th
First downs allowed: 28th
3rd down defense: 32nd
Red zone defense: 29th
Take aways: 26th
Sacks: 12th
Sack percentage: 22nd

Looking at these #s Dallas should have no trouble moving the ball. So naturally they’ll struggle. Dak will turn it over several times.

Eagles 30
Boys 23

No wonder why Purdy carved them up like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Our offense looked like 🗑️ and I can see that continuing. I see us losing this one then still beating them out for the division. Their schedule has been cake so far, changes now.

Should be a great game. Like most, will come down to turnovers and efficiency in the red zone. I've gone on record saying that the Cowboys are frauds only beating up on weak teams so I guess I need to back it up.
Eagles 31-27

It can go either way. It’ll be a one score game whoever wins.

I already know Brian Johnson is gonna come out calling 7 step drops and its gonna piss me off.
Dude, I swear to god if that happens I will lose my ****. Like I said earlier in the team thread, the combination of one of the best run blocking offensive lines, a top 2-3 rushing QB, a dynamic runner in Swift and a near-guaranteed conversion play from 2 yards and in (tush-push) should NECESSITATE a run on first and second down philosophy. Whatever the down and distance, remove two yards and call the plays based on that situation. 1st and ten should be looked at like 1st and 8; you have three plays to get 8 yards, because on 4th and 2 you can tush-push and start all over again. Its ridiculous that we abandon the run for long stretches so often.

Sunday night, if they come out going bombs away, I will probably throw my TV out the window.

Whenever they call an outside zone play it’s literally always like a 10+ yard pick up. It’s freaking money.

I’ve said it before but Johnson would do better at college where QBs routinely through for 400+ yards a game.
