CJGJ reminds me of T.O.: tons of talent, but a really challenging/difficult personality. Trading him was one of the biggest head-scratcher moves this off season.

I’ve heard some talk from guys who follow the team (not media personalities) that there was some kind of event that happened that they heard about from players on the team. They won’t spill the beans, or talk about what happened, but they said it made sense why he was traded after hearing about it.

I don’t know what happened, or how true it is, but I buy that CJGJ did something that caused the trade. I think we’ll miss his play on the field, but sometimes getting rid if a guy is addition by subtraction.

Drew Makuba will make us all forget about CJ pretty quickly this year. Its gonna be a fun time too.
 
It is Q's birthday today. Earlier in the week he was ranked 9th on a list of NFL Execs top corners in the league. He is just going to get better. He along with Coop. Makes me feel all nostalgic.

Super Bowl rings were unveiled last night. Details and cool video.

  • The bezel of the ring features 145 diamonds, which celebrates the Eagles' 145 points scored in the playoffs – the most in NFL postseason history. The remarkable feat includes 40 points against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, in addition to a conference-championship-record 55-point effort against the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
  • On top of the ring, "WORLD CHAMPIONS" consists of 40 points of diamonds, commemorating the Eagles' 40 points scored in the Super Bowl LIX victory.
  • Standing behind the Eagles logo on the top of the ring are two Vince Lombardi Trophies, highlighting the first two Super Bowl Championships in franchise history that were each achieved under Jeffrey Lurie's ownership (also Super Bowl LII).
  • One carat of marquise-shaped diamonds inside the Vince Lombardi Trophies honors the Eagles' top-ranked total defense (278.4 yards per game) and their rushing offense that set an NFL record with 3,866 rushing yards (including playoffs). The Eagles became the second team since the 1970 merger to feature the No. 1 total defense and the league's rushing champion – Saquon Barkley, who set an NFL record with 2,504 rushing yards (including playoffs), with a league-best 2,005 rushing yards in the regular season.
  • Encircling the top of the ring are 18 green stones, honoring the Eagles' NFL-record-tying 18 combined victories in the regular season and playoffs (fourth team in history). The Eagles tied a franchise record with 14 regular-season wins before winning three consecutive home playoff games and Super Bowl LIX in the postseason.
  • On the team side of the ring, the Super Bowl LIX logo is centered between the Eagles wordmark and the score of 40-22 from the game. Ten points of diamonds in the Super Bowl LIX logo signify the Eagles' franchise-record 10-game winning streak in the regular season, which put the team on path for a historic run towards the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
  • On the players' side of the ring, players' last names are featured with their jersey numbers, encrusted in diamonds, against the backdrop of Lincoln Financial Field, paying homage to the dedicated fan base that passionately supported the team throughout its Super Bowl LIX-winning campaign. Staff rings feature last names with the Eagles logo placed at the center of the design.
  • Bordering each side of the ring are wings that release from the bezel by pressing a special button feature that is located at the top of the ring – a first-of-its-kind element in a championship ring. When the opening mechanism releases the wings, the inscription of "YOU CAN'T BE GREAT WITHOUT THE GREATNESS OF OTHERS" becomes visible, honoring Nick Sirianni's message of unity and selflessness embraced by the team.
  • The 0.9 carats of diamonds on the wings represent the combined six sacks and three turnovers by the Eagles' defense in Super Bowl LIX, cherishing one of the most dominant defensive performances in Super Bowl history. Fantasy Football season started for me now. Had to do a Baseball Fantasy team this year and it just isn't the same. Time to get back to the real ****.

Things I’m looking forward to seeing/hearing out of camp this year:

What happens at CB? Ringo vs Adoree for starting CB? or Does Coop move outside when they play ‘base’ D? They’ll still be in Nickel >50%

Is Sydney Brown a legit starter at S? Does Mukuba have a Dejean-like surge week 5? Do they sign Simmons?

Can Trot Jr play at a high level? When will Campbell be ready? When does Nakobe see the field?

EDIT: Staying on the Defensive side of the ball: What happens at EDGE? Can Jalyx Hunt make the leap this year? Does Nolan Smith keep the late season momentum going? Do any of the FA signings give us aignificant enough production?

Who starts at RG? Is it Steen? or one of the FAs?

Can Jahan Dotson really become a legit, no-fooling WR3 in this offense?

I still can't believe of all the teams we are starting the season with lol, its gonna be the team that has a terrible run defense and also not all of their presumed defensive starters *already* are all not going to play week 1.

Went a few years ago during the Chip Kelly years, awesome experience. I sat in the stands with the beat writers just listening to them gossip. Peter King was there doing a segment. Nate Allen signed autographs after practice.

Other things to report:

Ringo got plenty of reps with the 1st team defense, but didn’t impress.

Hurts looked perfectly in sync with AJ and DeVonta.

VanSumeren had FB carries.

NFL training camps are a hot bed of dudes openly marveling at other dudes thighs (AJ Dillon’s are as advertised.)

-First-round pick Jihaad Campbell was a limited participant, avoids PUP list after having offseason shoulder surgery.

-Nolan Smith was one of the first players on the field, worked on pass-rush moves before first practice, still wearing brace on left arm. Suffered torn triceps in Super Bowl.

-Jason Kelce was in attendance, was hanging out with new OC Kevin Patullo.

-DT Jalen Carter (shoulder), OL Kenyon Green (knee) didn't practice. Green was acquired in the CJGJ trade.

- WR/KR Avery Williams practices to start camp after missing the spring with an injury.

-CB Cooper DeJean was the starting safety next to Reed Blankenship in base defense. Vic Fangio said DeJean could get some safety snaps this season. Sydney Brown was the starting safety in nickel, Kelee Ringo was the starting CB opposite Quinyon Mitchell.

-Tyler Steen started at RG.

- Jeremiah Trotter Jr. started next to Zach Baun at LB.

-AJ Dillon got reps with the first-team offense before Will Shipley. Dillon signed with Eagles in FA.

-Jihaad Campbell and Smael Mondon Jr. were the second-team LBs.

-Drew Makuba got second-team reps at safety, was with first-team defense in 11-on-11.

-Kyle McCord got third-team reps before Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

-Quinyon Mitchell broke up a deep one-handed catch attempt by AJ Brown in 7-on-7.

-Tanner McKee connected deep with Terrance Marshall Jr in 7-on-7 with Ringo in coverage.

-Jalyx Hunt "sacked" Hurts in 11-on-11.

-Jihaad Campbell used his athleticism to break up a pass in coverage.

-Campbell blitzed Hurts and force him into an errant throw. Showing his versatility on defense.

-Ben VanSumeren got a RB carry with the third team offense.

-On a 4th down drill, Hurts completed a 20+ yard throw to AJ Brown with Ringo in coverage. Ringo in good position, better throw and catch. Ringo beaten twice deep today.

Recent scuttlebutt about the possibility of either a major Linc renovation or a brand new stadium, as the initial 30-year lease is up in 2032. Maybe even a dome, to possibly host a Super Bowl.

I received/completed both the renovation survey and the new stadium survey. Spent over an hour total taking them, as they were both very in-depth and focus-group-like. Also didn't help that I took a lot of screengrabs of the proposed scenarios and pricing options.

My takeaways:
  • Renovation options were typical refresh choices with newer this and that everywhere, but also roof options like extending the overhang to cover all the seats (but not the field) as well as a completely enclosed roof. However, adding a retractable roof was not ever a listed choice (for the reno or the new stadium.)
  • While they showed renderings of what the new things would look like in the Linc (or a new stadium) with Eagles logos, you could still see some of the photo renderings they used still had the Rams or Bears logos in them from their recent stadium builds/proposals that they were obviously using to show the same types of modern areas.
  • For the new stadium, everything seemed to point to the entire lower level being some kind of "premium seating" category with premium costs, even if it was just access to a certain concourse or amenity someone from the upper level would not have the same access to. Then there would be the suite and luxury box levels in the middle ring, and the "General Admission" season ticket holders in the upper bowl.
  • There was a lot of poking around in the questions that pertained to partial season ticket plan options, which are much more common in other sports because they play so many more home games in a season. My guess is they are thinking with the potential of making 50-70% of the seats in a new stadium "premium seats" that average fans won't be able to afford a full plan but might be willing to do a 2 or 4 game plan.
  • Seat Builder Licenses were part of the equation in every scenario, with some proposed prices being six figures per seat and some of the lowest priced scenarios were still a few thousand and were for seats in the equivalent sections of the Linc that didn't require an SBL in 2003.
  • On SBLs, there was also a proposed "it's not a payment, it's a deposit" option, which would mean you pay, say, a $10,000 SBL fee for each seat but you get that $10,000 back...in 50 years. No interest accrued, either. Putting aside the logistics of having to make sure that the refund transfers properly to your grand kids because most fans would probably be dead in 50 years, just using average inflation rates that $10,000 would only be "worth" ~$1,200 when you got it back. It seems more like a way to make it more palatable for someone to agree to pay the SBL. And they are probably even factoring in a hefty percent going to escheatment and finding its way back to the city in 2082.

Uh oh, need to look at the wording for our SBL seats in the Linc now, wonder what happens to current SBL holders that want to keep them in a new venue?

Filled mine out too. My biggest question was getting a "like quality" seat in a new stadium. I don't want to go back near the 200 level.

Unfortunately, there's nothing that carries over. Our current SBLs are only for the Linc. No Linc = no seats. Not to say they won't do something like give current SBL holders the first chance to buy a completely new SBL, like they did for fans that had season tickets at the Vet.

But, if this does become official at some point that there will be a new stadium, current SBL values are going to tank since they will have a clear expiration date and supply will probably go up from people looking to get something for them before they are worthless that also know they aren't going to buy another SBL. Sort of like trading away an impending free agent at the trade deadline.

There could be some value, though, in some of the better sections for someone that might be willing to pay for an SBL now to get first shot at a similar seat in the new stadium. Of course, that's a gamble because you don't have any idea what a new SBL is going to cost in a desirable location. Quick example:

SBL cost in 2003 for 50 yard line, Eagles sideline, 5th row, each seat: $3,700 each for new season ticket members ($3,145 for existing STM in similar seats at the Vet)

Current re-sale value is ~$30,000 for that SBL. Let's say, after a new stadium is announced, that drops to $5,000. Could be a good investment to get in at the new stadium in a prime location.

But then the new stadium SBL pricing comes out and seats in that section are premium seats with exclusive lounges, free food and drinks, etc., and the price for an SBL is $75,000. You might get a better place in line for a different SBL if you decline the $75k one, but it still cost you $5k plus whatever the new SBL will be in a not-as-great location.

I think there will be many people in the lower level now that will balk at the SBL prices they will want for similar seats in the lower bowl. They will just want regular, no-frills seats to watch the game without all the extras that jack up the price of the SBL (and the per game cost of a ticket, which will also be shooting up, I'm sure.) It's going to be interesting to see how all of the plays out...if it even happens. I think it's 50/50 between a new stadium and a Linc makeover.

Moro Ojomo is/should break out this year. Seems like he has really taken the offseason and this opportunity seriously and is ready to play a big part of the DT rotation this year. All the advanced pass rushing metrics from last year show this guy "should" be ready to take the next step. All reports so far in camp is he is just killing it every day.

0 Career sacks, not even .5

That is definitely changing this year, playing next to Carter, he should have fun this year and parlay that into a solid contract for a guy taken very late in the draft.

Yup! Excited to see him play this year.

So far he has been tearing it up in camp (admittedly against Steen, mostly) but has been in the backfield disrupting all the time. The hope was that he could be 80% of Milton Williams’ production- he could very well be more than that. With Jordan Davis in “the best shape of his life”, Thomas Booker looking very solid and Gabe Hall and Ty Robinson, DT is the strength of the Defense.

At EDGE, Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt both look to have picked up where they left off last year and show improvement. I worry about depth behind them, though. Ojulari, Uche and Ogonkwo seem like JAGs, to me.

CB today showed maybe some slight movement towards Ringo being edged out in favor of Adoree Jackson. It’s waaaaay early, but today, after rotating every other day being first with the 1s and splitting reps 50:50, Jackson started and took about 70%. The Eagles want Ringo to win the job: he’s young and was drafted here. But Fangio dgaf about draft picks or contracts- better player wins. Woth watching what happens with the % split moving forward.

My bold prediction- if Mukuba’s shoulder injury isn’t serious or lingering, he is the starter Week 1. And if he isn’t ready to go, Justin Simmons gets signed after the 1st ore season game. Sydney Brown is a hard-hitting guy with a good motor, but he is too undisciplined and isn’t fluid enough of an athlete to be the starter.
