Sunday Ticket '23: YouTube TV signs deal. Stand alone option available (2 Viewers)

DirecTV was the best service around until AT&T bought them.
Yeah, I was fine with it. We would play the same game every year where I would threaten to cancel my service and they would give me Sunday Ticket/Red Zone for free. Then in 2017, they agreed again but cut it off after the first week. When I called in, they said it was only for the first week, which was BS. On principal, I cancelled DTV immediately. Of course, about 3 weeks later, they started calling and emailing me with offers of free Sunday ticket if I would come back. Just idiotic business. You have a longtime customer and you throw that away and then beg them to come back.

ATT sucks. Finally got an alternative internet service in our area and was able to dump them. They raised the price twice in a year and basically told me to F-off when I called to get a better deal. When I called to cancel, then they suddenly could offer a deal that they couldn't offer the day before. Jesus, just take care of your existing customers and they won't leave.

Exciting for Android users on all platforms.
FF sites are gonna flock to YouTube and those already established will make their shows better and...this is a lock to bring better tech into our lives

Youtubetv has a channel with a 4-box for the ncaa tourney that has audio on whichever game you choose and you can choose a game to maximize at any time. really hope they do they same thing with NFL sunday ticket.

Ha I was just commenting on how I like this a lot. I also just zoomed in on 16 N Kentucky vs 1 Houston 👀

In a blog post, YouTube said it will give YouTube TV subscribers a chance to add Sunday Ticket for $249 for the season, a savings of $100. The discount is available through June 6.

In addition to the $100 discount for YouTube TV subscribers, a bundle of NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL Redzone — a popular whip-around show featuring highlights of scoring plays across the league — will go for $289. On Primetime Channels, NFL Sunday Ticket is available during the presale at $349 for the season, which is $100 off the retail price of $449. The Sunday Ticket-Redzone bundle will cost $389 during the presale, compared the regular price of $489.

449 for non subscribers? LOL no thanks.

I'm curious if the old cancel Direct TV trick will work with Youtube - I have my doubts

would pay today.

I am a current youtubetv subscriber, but I wonder what will happen if I were to purchase the package and then cancel the regular youtubetv service.

Will be making the switch soon to Youtube TV and will get the package before June 6th. Have had the NFL package since 1999, not even sure what I've been paying but this way breaks down to $13.88 a week. That's a lot cheaper then going to a sports bar and most of the time I'd rather watch at home anyway.

Hello, exactly.

and my liver will be a lot happier.

Yeah, I've had the DirecTV and Sunday Ticket since 2005. I wanted to test out YouTube TV and did so during March Madness, just to see how it handled a bunch of simultaneous live sports. It was super easy to navigate and jump from game to game.

Thats my reasoning too, plus I can make my own food and watch the smoked meats more carefully as I watch the games from the comfort of my own home. I have been buying strictly the NFL Sunday Ticket a la carte the last couple years, hoping they let this happen that way too this year. Either way, I'll be in one way or another.

Apple TV works as well, yes, to stream youtubeTV if you don’t have a a smart TV?

I put off the cut the cord decision yet again last month when Comcast gave me a 2 year discount to make it “worth my while” to stick with my current cable/internet/landline + Ye Olde TiVo DVR that’s been working perfectly for me for years. I’m a home tech Luddite (I work in computer graphics for a living but want nothing to do with any complicated home computer setups, etc, so once I get something working solid at home, I tend to not touch it or upgrade til it breaks). Anyway, when I was looking into switching last month I was *this close* but was surprised to find that it wasn’t likely to be much of a price savings in my case as I thought it would be. I need to keep Comcast for internet and land line (no other options in my neighborhood) which is still something like $120/mo and then tack on youtubeTV with DVR + sports package, and it didn’t seem like the switch would actually save me much….so I stuck with the “change nothing” option.

I don't have a smart TV, so I can only watch on my computer?
You can buy a ROKU for about $35 and hook it up to your TV. Download the YouTube TV app and pay for the service. Good to go! I cut the cable cord a few years ago and never looked back. Tried FUBO TV, HULU, and two years ago switched to YouTube TV. It’s the best of the bunch for what I want.

Was just reading about this. They introduced this "multi-view" concept for the ncaa bball tourney. They hope to get feedback and kinks worked out and have it for other uses (hint: football)

Fron what I can gather, you can go Quad box, and choose the 4 games.

🔥

My then GF, now wife, got a job opp out of my team's territory and asked if I'd go. "as long as you buy me the nfl package I'm in" that was in the late 90s. That was pre local stations so you had to go to the bar to watch MNF. Between this and all the sub services we have I need to break out a spreadsheet to determine what we need to do.

So, my experience with streaming RedZone on Roku or related has been anywhere from a 3 to 30 second delay vs cable.
Not really material in the grand scheme, but can be maddening with phone alerts. The apps can be turned off on the phone but not really the big smack talk text chains with friends.

Can anyone comment on how YouTubeTV is for live sports?

It is usually a few seconds behind. It varies but generally about 5-10 seconds behind If I had to make a rough estimate.

I'll stick with illegal streaming. I'm not gonna get bent over to watch football.

man I have tried that streameast site and it is such a hassle to keep the stream alive and the quality is terrible.
i have a really nice fiber connection so its not that. are there better sites to use? I would love not to pay but probably will.

I have been a DTV and NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber for 25+ years. Planning to stay with DTV for a number of reasons but definitely interested in the standalone NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube. Since I am not familiar with YouTube TV been looking around trying to understand how it will work. Now, with DTV we watched the 4 and 8 game mix channels to keep up with my fantasy players. Of course you were forced into whatever games they had picked for those channels. Also, could easily go back and forth to local games not on the Sunday Ticket channels. We watched anywhere from 2-4 TVs at once and sometimes I go sit outside with my dog and watch one of the games on my iPad.

With YouTube, what I am seeing is that you can only view 2 streams of Sunday Ticket at once. Is that other's understanding? They do have a four game multi-view but not an eight game version. I do like being able to choose which 4 games to look at on multi-view although I will miss not being able to see more at once (six usually seemed to be the sweet spot for the early Sunday games).

The two stream limit sucks. We can make it work (our in laws live with us now) but definitely losing functionality in this change.

I agree. I typically watch on two TVs plus the 4-screen laptop app, for a total of 6 games at once (usually one is on RedZone). Guess I can watch a live feed on one TV and play the 4-screen youtube version on my big TV.

I use Voodoo Streams IPTV on my Firestick. I rarely if ever have a problem with streams.

Will other providers (specifically sling TV) still have their red zone channels? I was able to watch a local feed for one game and have a tv on slings red zone channel (part of their $11/month sports add on) and was very happy.

Looks like no stand alone Red Zone channel available
It sort of is. You can subscribe to their "sports add-on" for 10.99/month which includes the RZ channel.
Is there anything official saying this will still be an option? I haven't found anything dated in last few days saying youtube will still offer this option.
I just joined YT TV this past weekend. When I looked in the add-on section, there was a sports add-on and it showed the RZ channel.

I haven't heard anything about 2 streams for Sunday Ticket. Their service allows up to 3 streams at once. That was a one of the reasons I picked YTTV over Hulu. I would be surprised if they limited the ST viewing to just 2 streams.

YouTube and YouTube TV subscribers will also be able to watch up to four live streams simultaneously on one single screen with our multiview feature."

449 for non subscribers? LOL no thanks.

I'm curious if the old cancel Direct TV trick will work with Youtube - I have my doubts
That's a lot of $$$ if that's true. i thought about jumping in and subscribing, I like YouTube and spend a lot of time there.

You buy 2 tickets for 1 Home game and you almost spend as much as you do on the entire season for NFL access

But you're right Bell, lot of money and definitely makes me step back a minute.

We're going to get it but before the June date to save $100 ($349 total). Still waiting to see if there is any info about it being done in installments like DTV did it.

Thanks. Kind of a bummer, but might be ok with that multi-view thingy.

do we think this means individual game on screen 1, individual game on screen 2 plus multiview on screen 3?
