Sunday Ticket Includes HD This Year (1 Viewer)

just told them I was going to cancel Sunday Ticket because of rising costs, she offered $10 per payment, I asked if she could do any better, she said hold on.....she made me wait a minute while she looked, and came back with the $20/per payment

Looks like the internet version is extra this season. Yay that HD is free but the streaming version that was free last season isnt anymore. I guess they need to assrape you one way or the other.
Question....- Don't have DirecTV- Have an iPadAny way to just pay a certain amount for internet streaming so I can watch certain games on the iPad while my TV has on the regular cable games?

I am finally going to cut the cord with Sunday Ticket this year. The only way they can lure me to keep it is if they give it to me for free. It won't be pretty.

No. You need the full ticket to get the internet version.

Back when they were giving the $10 off for 24 months for HD, I asked what I could get off of Sunday Ticket and they told me since I was already getting the $10/month credit all they could give me was and additional $10/month for the 6 payments. I told them to cancel it because I've always gotten $20 off per payment. I expected them to come back with that offer, but they actually went ahead and cancelled it.

I figured I'd wait until just before the season and try again, but of course they went ahead and billed me for it anyway this month so I called back to complain that they charged me for it after I cancelled and they gave me the $20 off for 6 months plus free Showtime. It's so bizarre how inconsistent they are with their offers.

Called DTV today and reordered the Sunday Ticket by getting $20 a month off for 6 months. She said it was $299 and tried offering me to stay for only $10 a month but I told her to cancel, then she came back with $20. I am happy to get the ST plus all the games in HD for only $180.
Here's how to do this quickly and easily.Call the customer support number 1-800-531-5000. When asked for a reason say 'Customer Retention'. Give the automated lady your information and you'll go on hold. I started the timer. 5 minutes.Edmond came on the line and said "I see you've been a loyal customer since 1996, how can I help you?" "I just saw my July DirectTV bill - after my wife had a conniption about the $300 for Sunday Ticket". "What if I give you $20 off a month for 6 months?" "Great - that will get it back down to a reasonable fee""Anything else?""Yes - I don't want the Sunday Ticket to-go" (He made noises that me me think I could have gotten it for free - but I don't need it...)"Ok- done - hold one minute.""Anything else?""Yes sir, is it possible to get free Showtime for 3 months?""Let me check.............yes it is.""Is there anything else I can do for you?""No sir, you've made it very easy for me to go home tonight and tell my wife I saved $120 and got her free Showtime"(Chuckles) "You're welcome. Thank you for being a loyal DirecTV customer"Total Time - including 5 minutes of waiting" 15 minutes.

First call – the woman was not very receptive. Told me that ST went up because it now included SuperFan. Tried to tell me that could save money by bundling with my ATT internet service. Finally told me that she couldn’t do anything else for me since I had a $5 monthly credit related to a remote replacement. Hung up on her.

Second call – Bingo. Told me that she could give me a $120 instant credit to knock ST down from 299 to 179. Also said that she could give me a 10 dollar monthly credit for 24 months to offset HD charge as long as I kept AutoPay active (already on AutoPay). Also got Sunday Ticket To Go for free.

dude I would have given you $50 for your password, that is really all i want is the online version

First chick told me I couldnt have any more credits to my account and let me cancel the ST. She sucks.

Called back 10 minutes later. Offered To-Go for free and I passed as I will not use it. Showtime free for 3 months, OK. ST down from 45/mo to 30/mo and told him still too much. He then said he could credit me for $120 and take care of my next bill, which is only like 85, but yea OK. Then I said how about you let me pay my own bill, apply that 120 to the 180 price for the ST and I get the Ticket for 60. He said OK.

Crisis avoided and instead of 6 months of nonsense, my next months bill will have a one-time addon of 60 for ST. Woohoo

Good luck to the rest of the contestants that are gonna play this gameshow again this year.

I had canceled Sunday Ticket about a month ago and the rep then told me to call back in August because they would have good deals then, he just couldn't offer me any at the time.

Well yesterday I get an email saying ST has been auto renewed and added to my monthly bill, so I call to cancel again, and they offer me the $120 off over 6 months. I ask for free HBO, I get free Showtime for 3 months and free To-Go as well (I think he said 5 payments of 9.99 is the regular price for that). So overall not a bad deal, ST for $180 and some free stuff too. I wonder if I had waited a few weeks if it would have been a sweeter deal or not but I'm glad it's done with.

Good luck.

yea, from y conversation with him...part of the equation they look at is how many deals you currently have....less is better for you. So next time they offer 10 off for the next 12 months, try and get 20 off for 6 months instead....or similar stuff. I have decided after this year I am always paying ST all at once, they either get it low enough for me to do it or I am done. No more "over 6 months" paying.

Hopefully by doing it this way, next year when they look they will see no deals or discounts in the previous 1 year.

I called today. I am beginng the 2nd year of a two year contract due to adding new equipment last year.

Explained that I was cutting costs due to new baby coming soon (True) and asked if he could lower my ST bill.

He was very nice but he was hesitant at first. Talked about how much better it was this season and then offered the To Go for free. I stuck to my guns and said that while that was all well and good that I still needed them to lower the price if I was going to keep it.

He puts me on hold.

He comes back and says there is nothing he can do.

Very cordially I come back with how disappointed I am that I will have to cancel since the Sunday Ticket is the main reason I have Direct TV and that I get offers from Comcast and Dishnetwork all the time to change over but that I have always stayed with DTV for the Ticket. (All true btw.)

He puts me on hold.

He comes back with $100 instant credit.

I ask if he can try to do a little better.

He comes back with $120 instant credit but it's the best he can do.

I accept.

He is a Raiders fan and we discuss how relieved he is that the JRuss era is over and I sympathize by bringing up the Drew Henson, Ryan Leaf name your crappy QB here era of my Cowboys and tell him that his Tony Romo will come. I doubt it's Jason Campbell but who knows?

It took 15 minutes.

Thank you to all who contribute to this thread each year. It is very helpful.

BTW.

I called a couple of weeks ago and the guy said he couldn't do anything because I had a $10 credit still hanging around until August but that didn't come up in this situation. Maybe it only comes up if they are giving you monthly credits instead of instant credits. Don't know.

Made the annual call last night.

Got customer retention, did the whole "my wife flipped when she heard how much it was" routine. The woman checks my account and says that she shows no charge for it. So just to clarify I say "so I am getting this for free?". She said, "yes, it appears that way. It is renewed for this year and has a $0 balance." I ask about the mobile package and she again checked my account and she said that she could offer that free also. Wanting to push my luck I asked for anything else. She said she could do showtime free for 3 months.

I took down her ID number just because I have a feeling this could be too good to be true. I plan on calling back to verify that I'm getting it for free. I've gotten some good deals over the years, but getting the ticket completely free and free showtime is about as good as it gets.

For what its worth I've been with them for about 8 years and get one of the higher end packages. I also buy a lot of fights too.

Can't do much better than free! Congrats

So I called to cancel, not really want to cancel but to get it for $200 a a yr instead of $300. The ##### goes "oh OK no problem" never asking me a reason or anything. He puts me on hold, and i think maybe he comes back with the $20 off a month or whatever. He comes back and says OK all canceled I will remove it from your bill. I'm like o #### and just hang up on him.

Call back right away and said "cancel" and went straight to retentions center. I told the lady I just lost the call, but I had called to canceled and was offered $20 off a month, he put me on hold to do some work on the account and that's when I lost the call. She puts me on hold and says looks like you qualify no problem, I can't give you $20 off a month because you have another credit, so how is a one time credit of $120? So somehow she gave me an extra $20 off in there somewhere. She even gave me her badge number in case I have any questions later. I split the $120 up into two months the first $60 already appeared.

BWHAHAHAAHAHAH

ETA just got the auto renewal email from directv for the ticket they did 6 payments of $44.95 which is only $270 for it. Subtract the $120 and looks like I am getting the ticket for $150 this year, not bad less than $10 a month

I'm still skeptical, I haven't heard of anyone else getting this offer. The girl sounded new, so I plan on calling back just to be sure.

Yeah, I called again and it is the To Go free, not the ticket. I knew something was up with that chick yesterday. They offered a one time credit of $150 off and 3 months of free showtime. I passed for now.

The last few replies confirm it for me....instant credits are great but any time they offer the monthly ones, you mine as well try and negotiate them into instant ones....since they monitor the last 6-12 months of the deals they give ya....I am annoyed/enjoying this yearly game and as long as it continues to go my way will keep playing I guess.

I have been doing my song and dance w/ directv since January...finally positioned my self for the coup de grace today:

First I got the 10 off for 24 months for free HD for a total of 240. Then I got 10 of for 12 months equaling 120 because they kept threatening to cancel my freehd even though I had already enrolled on autobill. Then 50 off one time credit because they continued to email/snail mail me regarding the autobill. Today I got a 44.99 one time credit since the premium department told me I was ineligible for the 6 payment plan renewal because I canceled auto renew back in February when I initially overplayed my hand. So all in all I'm getting the package free. Granted not totally free upfront but close enough.

I took the plunge. Only been with them since last year, never had ST before, had a few discounts already on the bill (just got a $10/24month hd access put on), and so I took the advice of the thread and went with the one time discount, will pay now angle. Agent took the renewal price of $299 (though I am a first timer) and dropped it $50 initially, I said thats not good enough, said will take $100 off. Said they would have done $120 off (as most of you got) but I don't have enough tenure and have too many monthly discounts. Asked for to-go for free and got it. So $199 for ST and to-go for 16 month customer - not too bad right?

I have had Sunday ticket for the past 7 years. I live outside my home area so I needed Sunday ticket to ensure I would get the Pats game every week. I still love having access to every game but decided on another approach. I not only want the Sunday Ticket but I want all Red Sox games, Celtics games and Bruins games. I was able to achieve this by putting a slingbox in my buddies house in Boston. Now I get all local boston sports. Since I am getting Patriots games for free couldnt justify spending the extra money on Sunday Ticket. The slingbox was $250 but is a one time cost and should have a lifespan of at least 5 years. I was also able to pick up a cable to links my laptop to my TV so I can watch all of the games on my laptop or TV.

So what your saying is that your buddy will hook us all up with Boston sport's shows if we put a $250 slingbox in his house? Thats great! ...Wait a second. ..how do I know this isn't some sort of scam to collect a bunch of slingboxes and sell them on craigslist? Well played sir but I see your plan. And what's more I don't even like the Patriots! Man you almost had me but I guess I am going to have to stick with the Sunday Ticket.

got this email from DTV. anyone else?

On July 26th we sent you an NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ auto-renewal confirmation with the incorrect price.

The email should have stated that your account will be charged six payments of $49.99 each instead of six payments of $44.99 each for the renewal of NFL SUNDAY TICKET™.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your understanding and we appreciate your business.

Made another call today. I'm already getting the free HD credit for 24 months and a $10 off per month for a year (expires next June). Said the best they could offer is a one time $150 credit and Showtime for 3 months. I asked for 6 months of Showtime (dexter), she put me on hold and came back with approval. Not the best deal I've ever received from them, but ST at $149 and free Showtime (would have ordered it for Dexter anyways) sounds like a fair deal to me.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with a buddy down in DC for the Redskins games, but I'd much rather watch the games in HD on my TV and with surround sound than huddled around my laptop. I guess it is better than nothing, but I think it is worth paying for. Also, you better hope that your buddy's SO doesn't come in and watch the Lifetime network on the receiver that the sling box is connected to.

got the best deal I've ever been offered today...first, I got this because I have AT&T for my phone and internet, so this was taking advantage of a bundle deal.

I got Sunday Ticket (with the online feature) and the Choice Extra package (210 channels) with HD free for life. Got 1 HD DVR and a 2nd regular HD receiver for free, and 5 months of HBO, Showtime, Stars, and Cinemax for $49.99 a month for 1 year (actually, its $54.99 since I got a 2nd receiver)

I had to do this as a new customer, so I just did this using my wife's name and info.

I had been paying $40 each month for the crappy Family plan, and no ST, so I'm basically spending $15 more to get ST, about 100+ more channels, plus all the movies and a 2nd receiver!

Easiest phone call ever with DTV. I had Sunday Ticket for a long time, but not last year.

Offered credits of $240 and $42. Looks like I'll be getting Sunday Ticket again, but this year for only $40!

They must be very conscious of keeping their Sunday Ticket subscription #s up.

Our apartment is new to DirecTV (loving it compared to Time Warner), so we're under contract and have never had ST before.

Does anyone have experience negotiating from this position or should we expect to pay full price?

See my situation. $199 with to-go included.

Just call and say cancel.

Tell them you are looking at saving money this year on Sunday Ticket. I got $10 off for 6 months. Told them not enough. Got $20 off a month. I then asked if that included the internet access and that I loved it last year on my family trip. They say it cost $10 a month blah blah... what do you mean it costs money. Just cancel the Sunday Ticket for now and will call back after talking to Dish with the Redzone channel. My wife says its the same thing. How bout I give you it for free. I currently don't have HD so I ask for a discount for the first month. She comes back after being on hold repeats the deal and I say let's do it.

So i got $20 off a month for 6 months, to go for free and $70 off on my next bill. I also got Showtime for 3 months free starting today. She said it was something they could give me too. VERY HAPPY with the deal!

So whole package only costs $179.00-$70.00=$109.00 and get the to-go package and Showtime for 3 months. Life is Good. Can't Wait for Football!!!

I asked DTV today if they could offer only the Red Zone Channel, like everyone else, and she said I could for $9.95?? She wasn't the best rep I've ever had, so I'm going to call back later to confirm that's what I signed up for.

you should get an email shortly saying they changed your programming (if they did). Let us know what they say anyways.

Whoa, are they offering Redzone stand alone now??

I was surprised too. I've had the Ticket every year for a long time and canceled by auto-renew this season since the Skins play on nat'l tv Week 1 and I wasn't sure if I was willing to cough up all that $$ again when I mostly just watch the RZC that everyone else offers for about $50. Figured I'd just call back after Week 1 and see what kind of deal I could swing.

My call today was originally to just to get my $10 off per month for HD, but she saw that I canceled my Ticket and asked if I liked to renew. When I asked if I could just get the Redzone Channel (expecting a no) she said yes and that it was $9.95. This was a few hours ago, and no email yet, but I'll definitely post what I found out.

Bah............she signed me up for NFL to Go, for online access to watch the games. Beoytch........sorry to fire everyone up.

ETA: was 5 payments of $9.99, which she didn't mention either. Crazy.

Oh no, she signed me up for the entire Sunday Ticket + To Go = $350.00 even after I repeated "so, you're going to give me the Red Zone Channel for $9.99?". I'm glad I called back to confirm what she signed me up for because it wasn't even close to what she told me.

Wow, that isn't even close to what you were told you were getting. Good thing you double checked that. Being able to get the Redzone Channel or the To-Go package as separate things would be something a lot of us would be interested in, I'm guessing. But I realize that offering them stand alone could hurt their overall Sunday Ticket subscriptions.

I was told when I called for my deal that the Red Zone Channel IS an optional stand-alone option. I had agreed to the full ticket with the $120 discount, but just casually mentioned if he knew if DTV would ever get the stand-alone RZC. His response was "It already is." I told him not the Sunday Ticket version, but the NFL's RZC. He replied "It's already a retention offer." i didn't push the issue, but it sounds like it's possible...

I have a little more leverage because I have 12 active receivers, but I did receive a $20 credit for six months against the Sunday ticket. Also got $20 credit per month on my main programming package for six months, and free DVR service for 6 months ($10 per month). So all told, I saved $300, which basically paid for my entire package.

Asking for "customer retention" then saying "cancel" got me to a human very quickly and he was very helpful.
