I could argue that if you are the actual home team (like the Rams are) the visitor designation is actually an advantage. You get to call the flips (particularly important in the OT).'Home team' in the Super Bowl means exactly nothing IMO

Of course statistically. But I think most people would rather be the one choosing than not.50/50

Of course....and when they do they are still 50/50 to get it right or wrong... so there is noreal advantage. When I get into a position where I make a call because I believe most people call heads..... while that seems like some sort of advantage in my warped headi ts still 50% and no amount of superstition is going to change that.Of course statistically. But I think most people would rather be the one choosing than not.
I wouldnt say it means nothing.... the Bengals did SUBSTANTIALLY better against playoff teams than the Rams did.... of course they still have to play the game.... 7-2 vs 5-5 isnt an inconsequential stat.Regular season and playoffs
Bengals vs AFC playoff teams were 7-0. Bengals against NFC playoff teams were 0-2
Rams against NFC playoff teams were 5-4. Rams against AFC playoff teams were 0-1
This means nothing, but I thought it was interesting.
It also means the Bengals lost 5 games to non playoff teams while the Rams lost none. So I'm not sure what to make of it.I wouldnt say it means nothing.... the Bengals did SUBSTANTIALLY better against playoff teams than the Rams did.... of course they still have to play the game.... 7-2 vs 5-5 isnt an inconsequential stat.
Bengals get to enjoy the cushy Rams locker room and Rams are relegated to what is surely a dank dungeonidentikit said:'Home team' in the Super Bowl means exactly nothing IMO
The Bengals losing to the Jets was one of the most random results in recent years. (And it knocked me and many others out of survivor pools.)kneeshooter said:It also means the Bengals lost 5 games to non playoff teams while the Rams lost none. So I'm not sure what to make of it.
Just to pick at your pretty glaring flaws.Timmay said:I love the fact that everyone is counting the Bengals out. A theme this entire season. Bengals have overcome and proved they belong but continue to not get the respect.
Here are my thoughts on the game (as a Bengals fan):
Rams D-line is great, however, they are not good against the run, Mixon and company can take advantage of that. Aaron Donald usually lines up inside as a DT and Von Miller lines up normally against the LT. These are the Bengals strengths on the O-line, which helps. It will likely be Floyd against Prince on the RT that has me worried. But the O-line was solid against KC.
Rams O-Line, solid, but the Bengals pass rush has been underrated all year. I am not scared of this matchup. Hendrickson, Hubbard, Reader and Hill have been great this year.
Chase v Ramsey, Personally I am not scared of Ramsey at all. I think he is not the same shut down corner he once was, he is getting beat routinely this year. I love his size, but he seems to have lost a step. Mike Evans made him look like JAG. I think the Bengals will line up Chase in the backfield like they did against KC to switch things up. I am confident in Boyd and Higgins to take advantage if they did double team Chase.
Stafford v Burrow. Stafford is solid but always makes an errant throw (kind of like Favre). Burrow is Joe Brrrr for a reason. Ice in his veins, not scared of anything. As long as the Bengals can catch the interception ball that Stafford throws, Ill take it.
Kupp v Awuzie: Kupp is a stud route runner and he is so fun to watch. I am nervous of this matchup, but look at what Kupp has done against every team this year. We have to limit him as best as we can. Awuzie has been a stud this year and one of the best FA signings. I just hope Awuzie is matched up on him and it isnt Apple or Hilton. Ill take my chances with OBJ v Hilton.
Higbee v Uzomah: Both have MCL sprains from the sound of it, both are questionable to play. I think both could play a big part in the game if healthy.
I think this game is going to come down to the mistakes. I will take Burrow and Mixon over Stafford and Cam Akers in this regard.
Bengals 34 Rams 28.
7 Joe's have WON a Super Bowl as a starting quarterback. (OK Montana is 4 of them)
NO Matthews.

You won't ever seen me defend Kroenke, but this isn't the first time Dickerson has had an issue with the Rams, making me think these issues are not one-sided. It's easy to blame the franchise, but Dickerson seems like a problem.
Dickerson (one of my favorite all time players) is no doubt a diva, but the rams offering arguably their greatest player basically nose bleeds in their home stadium with them playing is pretty ####ty imo.You won't ever seen me defend Kroenke, but this isn't the first time Dickerson has had an issue with the Rams, making me think these issues are not one-sided. That is pretty lame of them, but I have to chime in and ask what possible argument is there for Dickerson as their best ever player? He's not even top-5 in my opinion. I'd actually say the Rams greatest player of all-time is playing today.Dickerson (one of my favorite all time players) is no doubt a diva, but the rams offering arguably their greatest player basically nose bleeds in their home stadium with them playing is pretty ####ty imo.
Yeah, I thought he had a legitimate gripe here. I, too, would rather watch in the comfort of my home with a giant television rather than sit in seats that require oxygen masks.Dickerson (one of my favorite all time players) is no doubt a diva, but the rams offering arguably their greatest player basically nose bleeds in their home stadium with them playing is pretty ####ty imo.
I think there are plenty of good arguments for it, (all time Rushing record, one of the best RB’s of all time, face of the franchise for decades, etc etc ) but it’s certainly a subjective argument. AD is making a case no doubt. That is pretty lame of them, but I have to chime in and ask what possible argument is there for Dickerson as their best ever player? He's not even top-5 in my opinion. He’s their all-time rushing leader. He’s also a HOF running back, and holds the single season rushing record. That is pretty lame of them, but I have to chime in and ask what possible argument is there for Dickerson as their best ever player? I made that exact choice this year. I live here in So-Cal and had the opportunity for face value tickets. After a few days of thought I passed.Yeah, I thought he had a legitimate gripe here. That said, does ED not know a single luxury box owner who’d invite him to the game? One would think hosting a Box that ED + 1 (or more) would be something of a bragging right, so I’m not sure why no one reached out to him.
The baller move would have been to get the tickets at face value, then sell the tickets for a fortune, then watch at home.I made that exact choice this year. I live here in So-Cal and had the opportunity for face value tickets. After a few days of thought I passed.
I bet he ends up at the game in great seats. Someone steps up.
Actually in this case it would have been the ##### move. The tickets were offered by a friend who prior to him doing exactly this offered them to me at face value because he knows I’m a lifelong fan. But had they not been it’s exactly what I would have done. LolThe baller move would have been to get the tickets at face value, then sell the tickets for a fortune, then watch at home.![]()

I'm aware of his resume, but this is a franchise that in addition to Donald, had Deacon Jones, Jack Youngblood, and Merlin Olsen. Could make a case for Orlando Pace as well. Dickerson was elite, no question(he's my #6 RB of all-time) but he only played for the team for 4 years. He’s their all-time rushing leader. He’s also a HOF running back, and holds the single season rushing record.
There’s more on his resume, but he’s qualified, I assure you.
Mans should still be offered a decent seat for the game tho. C’mon.I'm aware of his resume, but this is a franchise that in addition to Donald, had Deacon Jones, Jack Youngblood, and Merlin Olsen.
