Talk to me about North Carolina (1 Viewer)

We’re counting down the days until we cut the ribbon on our new Chapel Hill location, set to open on February 24th, 2021! Our third Wegmans store in North Carolina, the supermarket will be located between US Interstate 40 and Highway 15-501 in Orange County. The 99,000 sq. ft. store will include a delicious array of food options including a Restaurant foods section, sushi bar, fresh produce and seafood and so much more for customers to enjoy while experiencing the great Wegmans service they know and love.
The best grocery chain

Trader Joe’s may be the latest grocery store to expand in the Triangle.

The store’s architect firm, Taylor Associates, filed a building permit application on Jan. 12 to make changes to the former Earth Fare location in Park West Village in Morrisville, according to town records.

Agreed.  Visit in-laws in Greensboro / Jamestown & the area needs renovation.... too congested and poor development efforts.
That doesn't sound like the Greensboro I live in. Downtown Greensboro was revitalized in the last few years, and just built a new performing arts center downtown. Jamestown is a small town connected to Greensboro and High Point. Main Street in Jamestown has a cluster of cool restaurants and an outdoor bar that has live entertainment in the summer. One of my favorite restaurants is in Jamestown called Southern Roots. There is always (before Covid) someone playing music on the weekend there too.

🤣 I thought he meant what cities have offered me work. I thought about Apex, Holly Springs or Durham.
A friend of mine that lives in Durham works in Chapel Hill, and his commute isn't bad. He lives on the outskirts of downtown Durham.

I admit I have not been downtown Greensboro recently, but only on the Wendover/I40 region where traffic and congestion are terrible.  My exposure to downtown is all related to Moses Cone hospital visits on North side of town.  Wendover is a nightmare near I40 for traffic and panhandlers.

Jamestown is a nice area & I agree there are some nice food places!

The North Durham area has really developed nicely.  The commute avoiding I40 would be a nice rural drive.  I would avoid I40 and spend the extra few min at traffic lights.

He doesn't take I40. He takes what I think is called Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. Foster's Market is on the road he travels on. That place has good breakfast.

I like going to museums and concerts
If you take the Chapel Hill job, there are lots of surrounding venues to see concerts once it is allowed again.  Chapel Hill has the Cats Cradle, Dean Dome, etc., Durham has DPAC, Motorco, The Blue Light Grill, etc., Raleigh has Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, Red Hat Amphitheatre, NC Museum of Art (small Amphitheatre), PNC, Lincoln Theater, The Ritz, etc. Cary has Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Saxapahaw has the Hall River Ballroom. There are also lots of music festivals in NC. My favorite is Merlefest by far. It is always the last weekend in April from Thursday to Sunday. It was cancelled last year for the first time ever, because of Covid. They have moved it to September for one time only this year, but depending on covid is if it will happen or not. Shakori Hills festivals are fun. I like any and all.

Are there any board game groups in the triangle area?
I say this with the utmost respect, but have you ever been outside of Boston or taken any classes, even in elementary school, with the geography of the US in them?

North Carolina is the 9th most populous state in the US. Even with Boston, there are almost 4 million more people in NC than Massachusetts. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from Charlotte to Raleigh and along that drive there are as many people as there are in the Boston metro area. Again, Raleigh isn’t Boston but I think it’s pretty safe to assume there’s almost everything you can imagine unless you’re into some weird #### and even then who knows.

Yes but we prefer urinating in the woods.

Yes but you can't buy in Graham county any time or Sunday is a no-no before noon.  Fortunately most of us have a still running running out back.
Sundays changed to 10 a.m. back in 2017.  You can buy it at 10, and restaurants can serve you drinks at 10. It's the "Brunch Bill."  ABC Stores are still closed on Sundays.

Yea, Raleigh and its surrounding area is a big, sprawling suburb with all kinds of... everything. A big plus is everything seems fairly new, too. I live in NY's Hudson Valley, about to move to Clayton NC, and it feels more modern there as opposed to here.

Gee thanks I was just curious if there were stores

Hey, you threw up a softball, can’t expect no one to swing. I grew up in NE, spent a ton of time in NYC and Boston. Lived in LA and spent a lot of time in other cities as well. While I’m more familiar with Charlotte, NC is definitely a lot more built up than people outside of the “South” think it is.

I’d be legitimately shocked if there is anything you can’t find around here. Might be a longer drive since it’s not as compact as Boston, but it should be here and you won’t have to walk/drive through snow.

Clayton has their own small annual music festival called The Shindig. It is usually in late October/early November during their Harvest Festival. It didn't happen last year, but I imagine in the future it will resume.

milwaukee has a very active board game black market underground it is mostly controlled by several board game cartels and when they play connect four trouble is all you will find trust me on this i am one of the few who got out and it took four assumed identities and a decade in board game protection take that to the bank brohans
