Tamba Hali (1 Viewer)

I noticed Hali was ranked aaaallll the way down in the 50-somethings for DE's this week. Even the likes of D Tapp are ranked 30 players ahead of him at this point in the season.

As I understand it.... he was inserted at RDE to start the year. He was awful having lost J Allen to play across from. Then was it week 8 he went back to LDE against the Jets, had a sack and 5 tackles? Then he got hurt in week 10 against the

chargers, missed week 12, and was still dinged up and listed as questionable until last week when he was listed as probable and put up 5 T's and 1 asst against Denver?

Is Hali and the KC defense really that bad, or could he get a few tackles and forbid, even a sack or two against SD this week? I am toying with the idea of plugging him in as a sleeper this week. Just wondering if the mind meld that is the FBG's IDP forum think he might have some upside this week.

The Chargers don't give up many sacks -- I don't see any pass rush upside with either KC ends. Hali could definitely sneak through with 4-5 solos, though. If you're looking for big upside, I'd look elsewhere.

I should add...Jene's advice was sound, as usual. The smart money was on Hali putting up another dud performance with this matchup. But sometimes the best laid plans...pffffftt.

Agreed... I do however find it interesting how often I get these "gut feel" thingys... and when I ignore them, it usually costs me. I Started this thread because of one of those  moments.

Epilogue

Jene.... here is the kicker: I started Ellis instead of Hali, so it was not a costly benching at all. I should have benched M Montgomery instead. I won anyway, but I have to repeat... these gut feel things always seem to be the right move. FF simply cannot be predicted, I don't care how smart one is, no matter how much research... there will always be a sleeper starter out there, that much is predictable.

Which player that will be is impossible to predict. This week it was Hali. I once submitted an article to FBG on the "gut feel" consideration when making line up decisions. It was rejected. They like hard data points here. FF is more than hard data points. Data often ignores when a given player might have the hot week. I think "gut feel" is actually an individual's analog opinion based on an accumulation of facts, data, trends and probabilities, so it isn't possible to make a case for a player based on "gut feel", but it often proves more valuable than all the hard stats and data, line up denominators and projections one can use from the available arsenal of tangable measurables.

Goin to the Supe now, as the conference champ from FBG vs. the Huddle conference champ in a 16 team dynasty league. I will not discuss my playoff loses from last week, however!
