Tank Johnson? Whats he worth? (1 Viewer)

If you're looking for an answer specific to your team, scoring system and lineup requirements and league size would be helpful. Also, those team-specific advice requests should be posted in the Assistant Coach forum pinned above.

However, I can't see a situation in which Tank Johnson would have any value. He's a nose tackle in a 2-gap 3-4 front, and a part-time one at that. If you're in a 16+ team league that requires at least one DT in the starting lineup, he might have spot starting value. Realistically, though, he's probably a 25-30 solo, 0-1 sack type of player.

No team or league lineups just wondering an opinion in general, and especially from you Jean. I just got done listening to The Audible's 101 IDP to 401, and that question came to mind.

What do you mean by worth? The only thing that I translate worth into is draft pick value. That's the only currency we fantasy footballers have. There is pretty much no league format where this guys is draftable so he does not have any draft value in my opinion.

I thought that Dallas runs a 1 gap 3-4, but obviously they can use a combination of the two especially considering the Parcells footprint that is still there. Can you just elaborate a little more on this? Are you saying that when he's in the game it's going to be a 2 gap look?I don't think that it's a matter of Tank's skillset being limited. He's got some quickness and if I understand Chicago's T2 correctly he had a 1 gap assignment correct?I could be wrong, I'm just asking. I really enjoyed your posts about defensive schemes by the way. Do you have any plans for more of that kind of stuff with perhaps some pictures and/or videos?

 I calculate everything in draft pick terms too.

Oops. That's right. I'm an idiot, . There's probably some 2-gap responsibility at times, but it's a 1-gap 3-4 now. That gives Johnson a little more value, but he'll still be limited by the likely rotation with Jay Ratliff.I'm in the process of reworking those threads into a more formal article for the summer if I can squeeze it in. I'm going to try to include prettier diagrams (or actual in-game alignments) if I can, but there aren't a lot of all-22 and sideline videos available to show some of this stuff.I think I hit most of the major basic stuff in those threads, but I'm happy to take requests for things to add now and in the summer piece if anybody's got them.

Trade value and scoring value could also be discussed.

If we are talking dynasty, then you can also talk in terms of where a player would be drafted if the orginal draft were held again. I find that's the best indicator of current value.
